Coming from manhattan home of some of the best asian food outside of Asia, it was really hard to find somewhere that was even remotely close to being as good as our old chinese spot in the city. Mr Wangs though has been consistently delicious and it's the only chinese food we'll eat on long island! Very fresh tasting, good customer service (nothing missing in large take out order - all the sauces and chopsticks you expect but it seems something is usually missing!!) Scallion Pancakes among the best I've had with a great dipping sauce- General Tso and Kung Po chicken excellent, however despite asking for extremely spicy was not. There were no chilis in either. Great spring rolls, fried green beans had great flavor and crisp, my wife enjoyed her pad thai which had a very nice flavor. Forgot to add - great customer service - when my wife called they must have noticed the out of state area code and were very concerned we could find them - nice touch!! read more

It's old school Chinese food the way it should be. Fried wontons, crab rangoon, mei fun, spare ribs, etc. it's all delicious! My only complaint is the fried noodles for your soups & chow mein. Unfortunately they are a hit or miss because a lot of times they're stale. I crisp them up again in the microwave but I'd prefer if they used the ones in a sealed bag. Those ones are always crispy & consistently good tasting. If I can taste oil I can't eat it & sometimes Wangs fried noodles aren't very good. That is my only complaint. Other than that all of the food I have had has been very good. We travel 15 miles to get it so it's definitely worth it!! read more

My review is long overdue... I had given up on Chinese food all together until Mr. Wangs had opened. To save a long winded review, here are the takeaways: Clean food (white meat, not over oily, won't make you feel like sh*t after), good customer service (even when they're slammed), timely delivery (from oakdale to South Sayville they deliver in under 45 min), and the most important- CONSISTENCY! (I've been ordering pick up and delivery for about a year now, maybe once every couple of weeks and I haven't had a bad experience) If other Chinese takeout competitors are reading this, the formula isn't not that difficult: buy fresh food, loose the msg, be nice to customers and do it all the time. I think the only negative is that they don't take Amex but they did once use it when I only had my card and forgot my wallet. read more

I usually like the food here, except today. I ordered a Thai dish, Pineapple Chicken and it was way too sweet, but otherwise bland. Thai food is anything but bland. I figured a dish with pineapple would be a little sweet but I expected it to be balanced with spicy and have some heat too. Also, the dish contained lots of sliced onions - not a fan. This was a lunch special with soup. The wonton soup was very good. Love their egg rolls too. My son likes the deep fried chicken dishes. I don't like my savory dishes loaded with sugar and find this to be a problem in too many American-Asisn restaurants. read more

Oh no , all. About supporting my community but there was a problem putting sauce on side, grilling vs frying ny food selections. I have dietary issues and if you can't do what I need the place down the rd in sayville will.i don't need to be made to feel awkward bc it's a problem to prepare the food the way I need it. Also try to be nice. You are all on your cell phones then yelling at one another- try to be less upset when people frequent your shop. Maybe training is in order for better customer service here. It's taken me a while to write this review because I feel like I haven't had the time to do the place justice. Hell, I still don't, but figured at least I should get something started for the place we order from literally every other day of the week! This is Americanized Chinese take-out as it SHOULD be: big, hefty portions, reasonable prices, fast and friendly service, and classics executed with fresh ingredients you can taste. The chicken is always tender and generally in large quantity. The beef is also tender for quick stir-fry, and the shrimp are jumbo sized. If that's not enough, it's cheap to add more jumbo shrimp onto your order. The roast pork is a slightly sweet red version, usually lean and generously sliced. The boneless ribs are delicious, and you can't go wrong for 12 ounces (yep, this calorie counter weighed them!) in a small order. The regular ribs on the bone are super tasty as well, but since it's dependent on an actual whole animal, a bit more of a crapshoot since they can be thick and fatty, lean and long, or short and sad. The flavor is always spot-on despite the sizing inconsistency you get with any type of meat on a bone. The regular wonton soup is the thick-wrappered type with lightly sweetened lean pork meat in the middle. I love that it's usually tightly wrapped for a nice toothsomeness. The broth isn't too salty, but still plenty flavorful. Egg rolls are traditionally sized--none of that miniature JJ's Dynasty or Panda Express tiny-ass nonsense to waste your time with. They're usually not very greasy and are packed full inside. The basic fried rice is the yellow type, savory and rich with a good bit of roast pork in it, accented with crisp onions and bean sprouts. Brown rice is not extra to sub, so that's a big plus. The vegetables are always really crisp and fresh--never soggy. There's a good variety to be had in most of the dishes, and even Shanghai bok choy in the Hong Kong-style noodle soups. Dumplings are made fresh in-house, and the spicy sesame peanut sauce is a decadent, caloriffic treat. It's especially good with the shrimp dumplings. The Thai dishes are pretty well-rendered, too, even if they are loose interpretations. The pad thai is served with a fresh lime wedge and plenty of crushed peanuts, and thin-sliced peppers and onions add novelty, making it so you don't miss the marinated tofu at all. The pineapple chicken is sweet and delicious, and also served with plenty of peppers and onions. The chicken and broccoli is our default and it's perfect every time. The pepper steak with onions comes with a LOT of beef. And the shrimp with lobster sauce is excellent, with the addition of peas and carrots really beefing up the dish. And the boneless ribs? Reminiscent of China East in Selden, pre-new-ownership. Obviously, we love this place. Seriously, it's one of the reasons we don't want to leave our neighborhood, because finding a cheap, great, fast, friendly, and clean proper take-out like this has taken years ... but it was worth the wait for this one to open up. read more

Their food was very tasty and really good. My wife ordered the shrimp with eggplant it looked beautiful and tasted the way it looked. They used beautiful eggplant with a stunning garlic sauce and the shrimp was tender and delicious. My wife asked me to try the egg plant and believe me I'm not a real eggplant eater. Our new go-to Chinese place. After our original one changed owners and went downhill we decided to give Mr. Wang a try based on all the good reviews. Like always, our fellow helpers did not steer us wrong. The food is clearly fresh, the egg rolls have a perfectly golden crisp and the homemade dumplings are stuffed with flavor. Price is average. I just recently attended a bachelor party in Montauk and found myself at this establishment eyes crossed, reeking of stale cigarettes and cheap beer. The 2018 US Open Golf Tournament at Shinnecock Hills apparently created an East End traffic jam of biblical proportions, so, I found myself utilizing the free weekend parking at Oakdale Train Station and taking LIRR out east. After an evening of questionable decisions, my train pulled into the Oakdale station and I stumbled out into the mid afternoon sun. I looked up and was forced to shield my eyes from the suns judgmental rays shining it's angelic light on the sins I committed the night before. I disappointedly looked at my hands, marked with a patchwork of X's, Surfboards, Waves and Fish. The stamps were merit badges that I earned from bars that were playing 90s music until the wee hours of the morning. It was once a family friendly beachside community I thought to myself. Now it is littered with the trash from the city who urinate on any and every bush they can get their hands on. I was not innocent in all this, my hands still had the distinct smell of vanilla and lavender from the previous nights "entertainment." My wallet, once heavy with men with morals, dignity and restraint, seem to have have lost theirs, as I did mine, on the floor surrounding that girl enrolled in the 12 year program at Nassau Community College. I was lost on that train platform as I tried to remember which side of the tracks I left my vehicle. Suddenly, I saw my arc to save me and my hangover from the flood waters sent to cleanse my sins. It was my burning bush atop Mount Horeb. The glow of the sign speaking to me like a higher power. However the sign did not tell me I was to lead the Israelites out of Egypt but simply read . . . "Chinese Food Open" As approached there was a sea of cars speeding up and down montauk highway. Almost as if I was being guided by a divine power, I slam my empty cooler on the ground and the sea of cars parted allowing me to cross. As I reached the top of my Mount Sinai, I was given a menu written by the finger of god himself. The Ten Commandments read: Soup & Appetizers, Chow Mein, Lo Mein, Authentic Noodle, Homemade dumplings, Chef Specialty, Moo Shu, Mei Fun, Thai Dishes, Egg Foo Young. These commandments did not tell me to love thy neighbor, but, simply provided me scripture to lead me from the depths of hell. I had looked the horned beast in the eyes myself, so, I ordered enough food for this journey back to sanity. Dumplings, Chicken and Broccoli Combo, wontons in garlic sauce, a pork bun and a hot a sour soup to be exact. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; Mr. Wang. your dumplings and your chicken and broccoli, they comfort me. Very authentic Hong Kong style noodle soup. I had the roast pork, shrimp dumpling and traditional Cantonese noodles. The dumplings were excellent but I wanted one more dumpling (there were only 2) but it was delicious. Very fresh. At another Yelper's recommendation, I got the shrimp dumpling with spicy sesame sauce. OMG, so good. It tasted more like a peanut sauce but it was so yummy. Nice balance. I'll be back. It's a little far for me to get Chinese takeout but when I want real Hong Kong style noodle soup, it's nice to know I can get it at Mr Wang's. Highly recommend. Fair prices. Nice staff. read more
