A casual authentic Korean restaurant where you are sure to find a comforting meal, great service in a homely setting. Stopped in for an early dinner and got the pork loin in spicy pepper sauce served with steaming sticky rice. Generous serving of thinly sliced pork with onions in spicy sauce cane out sizzling its enough for two to be honest and what I appreciated here is the fact they serve the pork on the bed of onions as my daughter doesn't like chunks of onions. Their complimentary starters include hot tea, edamame, kimchee, fish cakes and pickled cabbage without the chili. A truly delicious experience!

Pretty solid spot. I'm convinced Korean food is best when you have it in person vs. takeout. For complementary ban chan- you're able to make a second free order which we did for a couple ones we really loved. All of them were quite fresh! I ordered mushroom tofu stew/soondubu-kinda felt like I had to order tofu stew here given its name. They ask for your spice level and I felt like they took the cues well for mild spiciness. I will say that the amount of soup/broth was not as much as I would have liked? I can't say I've ever felt that way at other Korean restaurants, so that's the only qualm I have. Otherwise, a very enjoyable meal! Tables are spaced out apart with dividers so you have your own privates space to enjoy your meal with quietly with whomever you go with.

I am so happy I found a local Korean restaurant that's authentic and delicious! It's a small restaurant with limited menu, but plentiful with all of the popular dishes. We enjoyed every dish and the attentive service the staff provided. The atmosphere is casual and suitable for children (about 3 families including us). This is definitely be one of our favorite spots!

The food was really good and the owner is so sweet. The banchan they gave was tasty. I got the kimchi tofu soup with beef in regular spice. It wasn't as spicy as I expected but it still hit the spot

Located in a small shopping center. Friendly staff. For appetizer we ordered the Hae Mul Pajeon (Korean seafood & vegetable pancake) which was light and simple dish but very tasty. Ordered the bi bim bob entree, i really liked the mixture of everything together but it did need a bit more seasoning to it. Everything was good and next time i will be trying the soups.

Ordered: Mixed Soondubu (~$11): assorted seafood and beef tofu soup served with egg and white rice; mild spiciness level chosen. Complementary ban chan (side dishes) Aya's take: super friendly staff, quick service, and great prices! Delicious authentic tofu soup with plenty of tofu, seafood, and beef. Ban chan (side dishes) were fine, not my preferred but went well with the meal.

Many vegan options. The server was very knowledgeable about vegan options. Mild is very spicy. There are several levels of spice. Say on the plain side if unsure of spice tolerance. Kimchi is not vegan. Restaurant is very nice. Modern. Barriers between table. Able to accommodate large parties.

Good place to eat after work! Tried the Du Bu Jeon, which was amazing. I haven't tried pan fried tofu before. Loved it. Also had Bi Bim Bob with chicken. Really hit the spot with just the right amount of spice (sauce on the side but still). Would recommend.

Enjoyed all the dishes. Spice level hot is hot. Service was great. Cute place. We really enjoyed this place.

Had another great meal today at Mr. Tofu House in Wayne. This time I tried their Yukgaejang, which is spicy beef soup with shredded beef, scallions, bean sprouts, mushrooms and sweet potato noodles. If you like Kimchi-jjigae, definitely try this. It's incredibly satisfying on a cold winter day. Take my word on this tip though, when they ask you if you want it "spicy" or "regular", go with "regular". That is unless you really like your food very (and I mean VERY) spicy. I like spicy food, but the regular was making me sweat. That said, it was just at the prefect point where the spice didn't overwhelm the flavor. Some people have mentioned that this dish was sweet, but I didn't find it sweet at all. There was tremendous depth of savory flavors though, from the beef, mushrooms and chili. I do agree with the person who suggested adding some of the steamed rice that comes with it. Just don't dump in the whole bowl of rice. One spoonful of rice at a time is the way to go. As usual, they served four different banchan with the meal. My favorite today was the dried radish. A little spicy, a little sweet and very crunchy. Delicious. The service was just as friendly and welcoming as ever. I do wish the menu was a bit bigger, but I guess they're a small, family operation with a small staff, so they're probably doing the right thing by not overextending themselves. Still, I'd love to see Gimbap, which is great for take-out, or maybe Bibim Naengmyeon in the summer.

What a lovely surprise! When just driving through places, how you eat tends to be a crap shoot. You don't know what you're going to get. I'm happy to report Mr. Tofu House is a good spot to land. The food was all super fresh and really tasty. The place was clean, and the waitstaff was just delightful. If you want Korean food that tastes homemade, this is the place for you.

    Soondubu
    Steph Y.

Soondubu (Korean soft tofu soup) is one of my favorite Korean dishes to eat (and it doesn't matter if its 100 degrees out, I'll still eat this!) and I always go to another place around the area but wanted to try something new. Find this spot and decided to give it a shot and had dinner with a friend here. I ordered the Soondubu and she ordered the Ramen. I thought the food was just mediocre at best - I eat Korean food pretty often so my standards are pretty high. The Soondubu here is bit pricier than the other place that I go to and this location is further from me so unfortunately, I don't think I'll be visiting any time soon. My friend enjoyed her ramen but said she also had better ramen at a different Korean spot. Overall not that impressed but the service was good. Ambiance is alright.

Always a great meal! We've had the C5 almost every time, but recently have been trying some new things. We had the Kimchi Stew today and it was so good! A new favorite. Can't go wrong with anything you order!

Not so busy during weekdays or lunch time, but you may need to wait for a while for Saturday or Sunday dinner. Marinated Galbi and Rib-eye Steak are always solid choice, paired with lots of side dishes including doenjang/kimchi jjige and steamed egg. The service (specifically the larger dining area on the left) is superb. My family routinely has been visiting once a month for the past couple of years. Recently (Q1 in 2024), some meats were not as good as before, but I hope it was just one or two bad timing/ either not-enough marinated meat or quality of beef. Will visit again soon and I hope I can write a 5-star review next time.

That said, this restaurant is one of few decent Korean spots outside of Fort Lee and Palisades Park. As such, it's become a return spot for our family members who live fairly local. As soon as you sit down, the default beverage offered is warm barley tea (which is much appreciated during those colder winter visits). The banchan, or side dishes, are few but a little more robust here than other Korean restaurants. During my last visit, we were given plates of standard kimchi, sprouts, and seasoned broccoli. I was also surprised to find pumpkin-egg salad, soy marinated lotus root, and soy-marinated ribeye pieces. The offerings change a little from visit to visit, but they're always decent to downright delicious. While I've not been wowed by anything from the menu, I've found most of the meals to be predictable. Hot stone bibimbap is my regular order, and I love the different proteins they offer here for mixed rice dishes. For those curious about the barbecue but unwilling to pay the high sticker price for a full entree, you can try the galbi, bulgogi, and spicy pork atop a bibimbap. During my last visit, I was delighted by the salmon hot stone bibimbap, which came with a great teriyaki marinade. My regular complaint with Seoul Galbi's bibimbap is that the hot stone has never gotten hot enough for my rice to char and crisp (which is arguably the best part of ordering it on a hot stone. Otherwise, why else would one pay the elevated prices?). When it comes to decor and ambiance, the restaurant is fairly no frills. As far as service goes, the waitresses have always been quick - quick to order, quick to serve, and quick to refill glasses (or, when asked, the side dishes). I also appreciate how slow they are to deliver the check, allowing conversations to linger. When my family and I came with a cake for a family member, the auntie serving our table not only came by with extra plates and silverware, she clapped and sang the 'Happy Birthday' song as boisterously as we.

I've been to this chain at a few different locations, and it's good. This location offers a bento box, which I thought was a good deal. I ordered the beef bulgogi bento, and it was delicious. My other favorite dishes were the Japche (which had a sweet umami flavor) and the corn cheese (the sweet corn was balanced by the mozzarella cheese). My husband had the LA Kalbi bento, and the ribs were very flavorful. My brother in law had the pork cutlet, which was a big portion. My parents had the seafood bibimbap - they added the sauce already and there was a lot of it so it was pretty spicy. The other locations I've been to let you add the sauce on the side which I prefer. I also ordered the Tteokbokki appetizer with the fried dumplings and shrimp tempura. I saw this all over Instagram/Tiktok, but I think I'm just not a fan of the dish in general (not necessarily just this spot alone). The fried sides were also heavy and the shrimp tempura had a heavy breading instead of the panko I'm used to. I'd skip - but some of the table enjoyed it. This location is also BYOB. Service here was great, and they checked on us often. They also offer side dishes before your entrees came out and the fish cakes were my favorite. Overall, a really good restaurant and you can get good deals if you order the bento boxes! :)

The LA Galbi was absolutely amazing--tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal. Another must-order is the chicken with cheese, which consistently hits every time. It's rich, savory, and exactly what you're hoping for when you order it. That said, the soondubu (tofu stew) didn't quite live up to expectations. Even when ordered "very spicy," it was lacking both the heat and the depth of flavor you'd expect. It wasn't bad by any means, just a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the meal. Overall, SGD Tofu House is a dependable spot with some excellent dishes that keep you coming back--just a few tweaks on the stew would easily push this to a full 5 stars.

Anyway, Seoul Express is more like the newer casual type of KFood that's become very common in the NY metro. Geared towards takeout with just a couple of tables, the menu is paired down to bowl style meals with mainly Korean flavors, with a few other options thrown in--such as poke bowls. My husband and I got the Japchae (sweet translucent noodles with vegetables and bulgogi beef and the Dolsot (hot stone) Bibimbap which is an option if you eat in. Both were excellent. The Japchae was very much more of a commercial American taste than a traditional sit down old school K restaurant--if you've ever had it at a BonChon Chicken you know what I mean. But the hot stone bibimbap was amazing. Exactly like my favorite version of the dish ever at a small family Korean restaurant in a Parsippany strip mall that unfortunately didn't survive Covid. The accompanying goojujang (spicy red mixing sauce) comes in a small takeaway container but they're happy to give you more if you're the type who likes to squirt half the ketchup bottle of the stuff into your bibimbap (like me). Bergen county has amazing KFood options and we drive there all the time from Hunterdon County just to get some. Seoul Express just put Passaic County on the KFood map. And being casual, the prices are reasonable. You have no excuse not to try it.
