I'm apparently in a very positive mood- and in a 4-star kick right now. It's easy to give this sushi 'hut' such a great review because it deserves it. Here's my top favorite lists for sushi rolls: - Caterpillar Roll - And, why am I even making a list. Just select all the Chef Specials, and you won't be disappointed. Other dishes to try: - Bimbimbap - Pad Thai - Tempura Ice Cream **** (There is a reason why I highlight this. It's AMAZING!) read more

Mr. Sushi is a great looking sit down restaurant for such a cheap name. I went here after work for a birthday party and we were the only people there on a Sunday night. Our service was wonderful and our server didn't blink at our party of 17, no reservation. He was totally cool and joked around with us. He even did separate checks, no fuss. The place is a large room, really nicely decorated and cozy (think warm colors and no glaring lights, not slouchy coffeehouse vibe). I would definitely take a date here. The sushi is pretty tasty and if you spend more than $15 you get soup and a small salad. I'm a go with the flow kind of sushi eater so I just put checks by several rolls not knowing exactly what they'd be like. All four good choices. I would like to go back and try more of their menu, maybe on their happy hour; which is for both apps and booze. read more

I love this place. They have some delicious rolls, the quality is pretty consistent n matter who the sushi chef is at the time and the best part is 1/2 price sushi after 5pm all week!!!! They have had some under-staffing issues a few of the times we have been there, but they warn you ahead of time so that if you are in a rush you can go elsewhere before you commit. Our current favorites are the Volcano roll, the Airforce roll and the Dragon roll. They are the spine of any meal we have here and are usually complemented by some delicious Veggie Tempura ( all kinds of veggies, like sweet potato, pepper, onion and zucchini). Their gyoza are also quite good (the steamed dumplings are also nice, but you can't beat fried stuff ;) ) Sad part is that they only carry Pepsi and I am decidedly a Coke girl. read more

It's always confusing to me how to rate sushi restaurants in Cincinnati. I love sushi. I love good sushi. If you're going to New York, LA or Tokyo, let me know, and I will tell you where to get mindblowing sushi. However, there are no truly great sushi restaurants in Cincinnati, so this rating is relative... Mr. Sushi is fine for a quick lunch and their half-price promotion for dinner is in line with the other places around here (if it's mediocre, at least it's pretty cheap!) The location is great- right by my work. It's convenient, but I generally go to one of the places in Mt. Lookout or Hyde Park if I want better sushi. For some reason, Mr. Sushi just reminds me a little too much of something like Chipotle (or maybe Fusian) - fast-casual and very Americanized. read more

The taste for fresh fish comes in the nigiri. Got a few pieces of the salmon and I wasn't disappointed in the quality and quantity (esp for half price!) Who doesn't like the half price deals?? I ordered the Philly roll (staple) and a roll with spicy tuna and topped with scallops. I'd go back for a quick fix and try their other selections. read more

Every time I come to Cincinnati, which is twice a month, I eat at Mr. Sushi. Every single time I've ordered the food, it has been fantastic. Fresh. Flavorful. I've ordered for carry out for lunch - it's always been on time, and in the evening if I decide to order it for dinner and have it delivered, it's always fast, prompt and the quality remains the same. Two thumbs up. read more

Had a great experience and I highly recommend this place for some one with a sushi craving. Went after 4pm and ordered rolls off the half off menu. This menu had a big variety of options to choose from. The food was very good. read more

Wasn't the worst sushi I ever had, but I could have had the same quality sushi for a cheaper price elsewhere. Our waiter also wasn't the most attentive either, the busboy refilled our drinks more than our waiter. Not bad if you're in the area, but wouldn't drive downtown for it alone. read more

We came upon this restaurant after driving around Cincinnati. It was very clean and the servers were nice. The food was, for the most part, good. The chicken teriyaki my wife ordered was not great, but the spicy calamari my daughter ordered, the Chicken Fried Rice my mother-in-law ordered, and the beef Bibimbap I ordered were delicious. The sushi was well prepared and presentation was excellent. One bit of advice would be to make sure if you order something that is spicy, it WILL be spicy! The Hot Mama Roll lives up to its name! Overall, the food and service were great! read more

I have been curious about going to Mr. Sushi's for a while and decided to try it. All in all, I was impressed with how modern the restaurant is on the inside, and busy. Normally, at a sushi restaurant, a person would order sushi. However, I'm practically near people every day, so fish-breath won't work. I ordered a bento box, and had a bit of sticker shock. Pros: The Chicken Katsu I ordered was really good, and along with the veggies plus the extra items (small chicken wingette and sticky rice). The food came out piping hot and was very good. Cons: Although the food was hot, there was a long wait for it, and no real place to wait. Also, if you're looking for a reasonably priced lunch, this is not the place, unless you order a roll. As I mentioned before, the Chicken Katsu was really good. The clear noodles they included, were not as good. Also, the person taking my order acted like I was an "inconvenience". When you have customers, it is important to make them feel as though they are welcome to come to your establishment. Otherwise, (like myself in this case), you'll begin going elsewhere. All in all, it's not a bad restaurant and the food is okay. But due to the prices and not-so-friendly staff, I think I'll keep my money away from there. read more

I live in the building where Mr. Sushi is so it's a good spot to go when I don't want to go too far. I would say the sushi is above average and the "half-off" deal they have after 4pm makes the prices reasonable. Three or four rolls usually fill me up and I usually end up spending $20-$25 for a filling meal. The service is hit or miss, it usually depends on how busy they are or which waiter/waitress you get. Overall a decent place for sushi downtown! read more

I went all out for carry out at my first Mr. Sushi experience. While walk up, carry out didn't seem like their thing they were so nice and accommodating. I sat at the bar and sipped water while they prepped my order. California Roll, Red Snapper and the Mango Roll were my selections and I had a salad to with their house dressing. Since my experience was a week ago, I don't want to attempt to recall the food too vividly. The size of the mango roll stuck with me, quite a portion. The sushi was solid and the prices were reasonable enough. I will say you pay for the environment to some extent so carry out may make a bit more sense elsewhere. read more

We stopped in Cinci on our way back to Kentucky and we were craving some great sushi. We were not let down. Mr. Sushi is an open and bright restaurant. We sat on the patio. Sarah, our server, was superb. She was friendly, informative, and fast. The sushi was super tasty and fresh. This venue also had a very extensive beer list for being a Japanese restaurant! I had the Tempura Roll and the Alaskan Roll. The Tempura Roll was salmon, cream cheese, and asparagus. It was deep fried and topped with eel sauce. The Alaskan Roll consisted of salmon, cucumber, and avocado. I would highly recommend both. Thanks for the hospitality Mr. Sushi! read more

Mr Sushi - Spicy California, Air Force, Alaskan, and Tempura Roll - Sushi Bars Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

Super bland and generic tasting. The lo mein tasted like nothing. The japanese noodle dish wasn't bad. But it wasn't good. The sushi rice in our Godzilla roll was mushy and it reminded me of sushi I've had from Costco...only not as good. As far as saying the rolls are half priced...that's damn trickery. They just double the normal price in the menu so you feel like getting a deal when they cut the price in half at the end. Nobody pays $20 for a cheap roll of sushi any where. Severely disappointing. I wouldn't go back. I just don't think the quality of ingredients being used leaves any room for improvement. Oh and the dumpling soup sucked. read more

Amazing sushi and the atmosphere was enjoyable. we will be regulars for sure and recommend this to anyone who loves amazing sushi.

I have only been here once so far after a show at the Aronoff. They are open late which was awesome! The place was empty. which wasn't surprising considering it was after 11pm. We were able to order quickly and our sushi came out fast and fresh. We split a few rolls, some specialty and some basic. The spicy tuna was great and the specialty with lobster was amazing. I would order this again in a heart beat. They do the classic Cincinnati half off sushi you see around town, and they do it well. I would definitely come back if we are downtown and are craving sushi. read more

Run of the mill sushi, nothing special. Fish slices on the nigiri are a bit thin, but thats the norm for a lot of sushi restaurants. Suspect the turnover is quite low given how empty I see the place. read more

Chef was very kind. Gave complimentary sample roll. They kept our H2o glasses full. Ginger salad was great. Dynamite, Bengal & Dragon rolls were amazing! The sushi here is definitely one of the best I've ever had. They have plenty of vegetarian and vegan friendly options which I really appreciate. Ordered Takout for the first time for lunch. Ordered the Rainbow Roll, California Roll and Green River Roll. All of it was really good, Rainbow and California were refreshing and the Green River Roll was probably our favorite. Definitely get the Green River roll! read more

Mr. Sushi seems to be one of the few places for less "industrialized" (I'm looking at you, Fusian) places for Asian cuisine. I stopped by for takeout, ordered two rolls (Futo Maki and Salmon), spectated the chefs making my sushi for a brief 5-10 minutes, and walked back with some decent sushi. The order came with a side of miso soup, some ho-hum iceberg lettuce salad, and...nine packets of soy sauce!!! (to bathe the sushi in???). In my opinion, the best part about the place is the plum/peach/lychee-flavored candy featured at the counter. I enjoyed one while waiting for my meal and could not resist taking a few for the road. As someone with an advanced degree in candy informatics and an undergrad background in sweet tooth studies, I definitely recommend it. TL;DR: Fast service, decent sushi, fruity candy. read more

Like many visitors I was thrown off by the restaurant's playful name, but upon arrival I was immediately impressed by the sophisticated and modern decorations and atmosphere. The wait staff was prompt and cheerful. The menu is expansive but not overwhelming. Their sushi selection hits all the must haves with a few unique additions. We tried a house specialty appetizer with thin rice noodles, spiced tuna, cucumber, jalapenos and a few other ingredients. It was amazing and a new must for future visits. The sushi rolls were bigger than expected and tasted very fresh. Overall the best sushi I've had in Cincy! read more

We eat here probably once a week since the foods good and they're in our building lobby so that's convenient. Everything is always fresh I've never had any sushi with off flavors and staff is helpful and nice. I usually get the chirashi lunch, its sashimi fish on sushi rice bed. Tons of food and great combinations depending on what's good that day. It's not super expensive, but nor cheap either but good sushi never is. I recommend this to all my sushi eating friends. read more

Mr Sushi - The Chirashi dinner. Outstanding! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

This place can't seem to decide what it wants to be. It's a little too upscale-looking inside to be advertising half price sushi 7 days a week, karaoke, and cheap shots. It would be more palatable if this place was a bit more like Drunken Bento in Clifton (i.e. More casual.) No complaints about service. It was empty at dinner time on a pretty busy Saturday night. That being said, the sushi *is* half price after 4pm - I can't think of a better deal in the downtown area. read more

I just ate lunch here with my wife, and it was our first time here. Even with the busy lunch rush we were able to be seated at the bar right away, and our server was very prompt, friendly and attentive. Our food, I had Tempura Udon and my wife had Yokisoba, came out right when we were ready, everything was very delicious, and the portions were quite large so we also have leftovers. I look forward to going back again soon to try their sushi. read more

Great location. Food and service are top notch. Prices are amazing. After 4pm half priced sushi

Visited for the second time yesterday. Both times the food has been very good but the service has been terrible. The location is excellent, the environment is great, the manager who is usually perched by the entrance was welcoming and friendly. Was seated almost immediately but spent ten minutes waiting to be acknowledged. I was ready to walk out when I asked the server who had walked by me a dozen times already if I was going to be taken care of. He insisted he would rush things, but nothing was rushed and everything still seemed slow for only having a handful of guests in the restaurant at the time. I likely won't be back because I'd rather give other sushi places a chance before heading for more disappointing service. read more

So I have to admit that I'm pretty new to the sushi world but as far as I can tell, this place is the bomb! I've eaten there probably a dozen times and have not once been disappointed. The last time my fiancé and I ate at Mr. Sushi we sat at the bar and chatted with one of the employees. He was so nice and was amazing at rolling sushi! (I've tried it myself a few times... Not so easy!) He even gave us a free sample of something AMAZING... I can't even tell you what it was but it was delish! It was completely unexpected but a super cool gesture as he was pretty dang busy but took the time to make us some free yummies! Our experience at Mr. Sushi is always exceptional and the fact that all rolls are half off after 4pm is amazing. Great food, great prices. What more could you ask for?! Oh yeah, don't forget to order a salad with house dressing to start your dinner off... It's to die for! read more

Came here at 6:30 before a 7:30 show at the Aronoff on a Tuesday. There were maybe 5 other tables of patrons in the entire restaurant. My husband and I ordered water and a couple of sushi rolls. The waiter never apologized. We won't be back. read more

Sit at the bar, watch the Sushi chefs work their magic. This is my favorite place in Cincy to get sushi, it's very close to my heart.

This one of the best sushi places I've been too! Now granted I'm no sushi expert but I've been to a few. The staff was super friendly and very prompt! We did not wait long at all! I would highly recommend this place if your in the area and want some good sushi rolls! read more

This place is pretty good. The portions were larger than typical sushi places that I've been to so don't order too many things. I got the tempura udon which was really good. It came with a salad that they drenched with dressing so it was okay. We got the mango tango roll and a dragon roll which my boyfriend really enjoyed. I would have given this place a 4 star rating but the waiter was kind of shitty. read more

I've only been here once and had a mediocre dinner and even worse service. The sushi looked alright, but as far as taste goes I prefer the artistry of Maki in Clifton Heights. The seafood pancake was greasy and overcooked. I ordered sake and it came to the table without being opened. The server was inattentive. A positive however was the decor - nicely done there. I hope that my experience there was isolated or can be chalked up to the newness of the business. read more

As far as sushi palates go, I may not have an expert one, but I know what I like. Mr. Sushi fits the bill. I've had a number of their rolls and have not been disappointed in presentation or taste. I always start snacking on the edamame. The perfect complement to their rolls is the miso soup and their house salad which has amazing dressing on it, that I've never been able to recreate but always enjoy. They have My favorite item is the Spicy Roll combo which consists of spicy California roll, spicy shrimp roll and spicy tuna roll. I'm also a fan of their pad thai which, although not spicy, has good flavor and abundance of whatever you choose- chicken, shrimp or beef. If you go for lunch, try one of the bento boxes. It's a lot of food for a reasonable price and has a little bit of everything. Don't plan on doing a lot of work afterward, though, because you're more likely to just want to take a nap after such filling a meal. The service was good during lunch; didn't have to hunt someone down for the check. During dinner, the service was good, as well, even with our more specific orderers. The atmosphere was very contemporary and the space large enough so when they have a good crowd, you don't feel packed in. With their extensive selection of rolls at a reasonable price, Mr. Sushi is a must. read more

Visited the "New" Mr. Sushi last night after a long absence because of customer service issues with the "old" place, where I was regular and spent quite a bit of money--- I was, to say the least, not impressed-- first, I noticed right away that the new proprietor seems to have replaced the existing Sushi Bar with a higher, "bar-height" Sushi bar, which now makes it impossible for me, a wheelchair user to sit there and interact with the Sushi chef, which USED to be half the draw of going to Mr. Sushi-- THEN, as if the new, less accessible environment wasn't bad enough, I discovered their new so-called "half-priced" Sushi menu, which includes a limited selection of maki rolls and no sashimi dinners-- you have to purchase sashimi a la carte, by the piece now-- but that wasn't the best part. As a veteran of the previous incarnation of the place, I knew the menu and prices very well-- and quickly saw that while they did cut some prices in half, they first raised the FULL prices first-- just another "bait and switch". I started adding up their new prices for sashimi by the piece and quickly found out that buying the equivalent of their old "Sashimi regular" or "Sashimi deluxe" plates would be more expensive-- MUCH more expensive. I pointed this out to the waiter, who first insisted that it was cheaper until I started adding it up for him. They then begrudgingly offered to make me up the "sashimi deluxe" plate, but having seen a couple of really skimpy sashimi plates go by me, I cautiously refused, and opted instead for the Rainbow Roll and a glass of Persecco. When the roll arrived, I discovered how they're able to offer it half-priced now. Much smaller roll, and covered with more thinly sliced sashimi-- that's where they get ya, as the saying goes. Even though I had my issues with the original Mr. Sushi, I can honestly say that they gave you a respectably generous plate of sushi and sashimi for a good price. Oh, how I long for them now... RIP to the old AND the "new" Mr. Sushi-- with things as they are, they'll go down the tubes really fast... read more

Sushi here is decent - I mostly go for the half price for dinner sometimes eating with others or by myself. I understand that being a waiter is not the easiest job but the wait staff here seems to never be around or available when you want them. My last experience was me waiting for almost 15 min after my table was cleared off just to get the check to pay - I wasn't hanging around to socialize I was waiting for the waiter to show up. I think it was clear that he was not around when the only other table he was serving walked their checks with payment over to him as soon as he came up to our table (instead of waiting for him to come over) because they were tired of waiting for him to come back to take their payment. read more
