A couple of Saturdays ago, after I had landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport and fetched my car, I was driving home. I needed to grab a bite to eat.
I took an earlier flight back than usual. It was odd and nice. I had more options to grab takeout other than burgers once I was back in the GTA.
I felt like a sub. Markham has two Mr Sub locations. The one on Woodbine had closed for the day. This one on Highway 7 was open until 10 pm. Nice!
For years, I have known about this Mr Sub. I used to hang out in this area often. It's on the southwest corner of Highway 7 and Grandview Boulevard. Across the street, looking northbound, is a Jiffy Lube that I used to frequent. When you look across the street eastbound, there's a Petro-Canada that once was a Sunoco many moons ago.
Parking is interesting. There are a handful of spots in front of the store. There are more around the building that Mr Sub shares with Ca$h 4 You. I managed to park on the side closest to the latter. It brought out my parallel parking skills. All was great.
This store has a step before you hit the main entrance. There's another step to get you into the store. Accessibility isn't the main priority for both stores.
The eatery is cute once you are inside. It's branded with the Mr Sub logo, along with red and white colours.
I had the nicest man help me with my order. I essentially have two go-to subs that are my favourite at Mr Sub. I got a footlong assorted sub on mozza-cheddar bread. My first sub ever in my life was an assorted sub, so it's comfort food to me. Mozza-cheddar bread is new to me. I like getting whole wheat, but I changed things up.
I got my sub with cucumber slices and sub sauce. He was great adding them to my sub.
I paid with a debit card. It felt weird using it after it sat in my wallet for over a week. I tapped, tipped, and was done. He packed my sub in a paper bag sleeve. I thanked him and left.
I headed home in fog. How nice!
Once I got my luggage, backpack, sub, and me in my home, I sat down and ate. This sub hit the spot after a long travel day.
I frankly couldn't tell what cheese was on top of my bread. I felt that it was a shredded blend that tasted yummy. My sub was so good. I got a generous amount of deli meats, tomato slices, shredded lettuce, cucumber slices, and mozzarella cheese. The sub sauce made this sub perfect.
I'm so glad that I finally got to visit this Mr Sub location. Hours and staff are great. The food was yummy. I'm a fan.
