More like 4 1/2 stars! This is a very casual eatery. You order and pay at the counter. They call your ticket number when your food is ready for pickup. They do a lot of takeout, but we decided to "dine in". Food is served in takeout containers. It's located behind the gas station but not far off the interstate (I-95). We were hungry when we stopped so everything sounded great and we couldn't decide what to order. We wound up getting their 3-item platter. The items we chose were chicken livers, fish, and fried oysters. We got the fried flounder (a dollar more) although we'd wanted snapper -- it's too expensive now and not included per the gal taking our order. It didn't take long for our food to be ready. It came out in a big aluminum tray. And we requested tartar and cocktail sauces. They also gave us some ranch and blue cheese. The portion was huge!!! The only problem was that they gave us scallops instead of oysters. When we pointed that out, they gave us a side of fried oysters in addition. My husband said the oysters were some of the best he'd had. The fried flounder fish -- there were two large fillets -- was so light and flaky. The fish was my favorite. The chicken livers were good also. And the plate also came with a ton of crinkle cut fries. We did have leftovers. And we said we'd certainly stop here again. Prices were reasonable for the quantities and quality. Just don't stand on ceremony -- it's a down home, very basic, local kind of place.

We walked in and were greeted right away. The cashier was super friendly and bet helpful. The restaurant was clean and the food was very good!! Food was fresh and hot. Wish there was one closer to home!!

Friendly counter service. The gentleman helped me choose the best fish for my meal and asked before putting the normal lemon pepper seasoning on the fish and chips. It is made to order so it took a few min. - worth it! I only gave 3 stars for atmosphere so people realize it is more of a takeout vs date night spot. Although the quality of the food could stand up to that level.

Fresh fish, needs more seasoning, sketchy location. Saw signs on the way and decided to stop here to eat some fish. We got the large catfish nuggets. It's a great amount for $12.99. The fish was crunchy, perfect inside, and tasted fresh but there's no flavor other than salt (that you can see in the photo, lots of salt on top). They have potential, just need to add some seasonings to the fish because it's a little bland. Fries were ok, regular ones. The area is sketchy. Abandoned gas station with a lot of birds eating trash outside. Not their fault . We parked real quick to pick up our food. It didn't take too long. Overall a great road side stop. I would come back, I'll just have some old bay or canjun seasoning on the side.

The place is very small inside but clean. The staff are friendly but be patient and prepare for a wait. The food here is amazing. Season two perfection.

We wanted to make a quick lunch stop. This is next to a truck stop in a building with a closed convenience store. The food here is cooked fresh and fast. I had the fish and shrimp lunch special for $9.99. The fish was super hot, the french fries were crisp. It was served with hot sauce and I had to ask for cocktail and tartar sauce but that was OK. The store could use an update but the food and service were very good. I would go back if I was in the area agian.

The menu and my entree - VIP Conch and fried oysters...

OK - It's all fried.... My fried conch and fried oysters were a surprise. They were prepared very well and were tasty... yeah they have conch... My wife had the Shrimp and Wings which were tasty as well. We ordered at the counter and our order taker greeted us with a smile and a positive attitude'. The ambiance is not fancy but it does have the old gas station chic look...

We were looking for a place to stop for lunch while traveling and found this place on Yelp. After seeing the reviews, we figured we needed to check it out. It seemed pretty busy, but we didn't have to wait long to place our order. We waited maybe 10 minutes or so, but everything was made fresh. Here's the breakdown of the food. Fish nugget meal with fries - My son devoured this meal! I mean, he's a talker, but we didn't hear anything coming from the backseat of the car for about 15 minutes. Chicken Wing and fish nugget meal - I was also very quiet in the front passenger seat! The serving sizes are big, and everything was so fresh. I will say the fish nuggets could've used a bit more seasoning, but I almost think maybe it wasn't included by accident since everything else was seasoned so we'll. Chicken wings and shrimp meal - My husband had no complaints. He loved everything! Conch - this was for my husband, and he loved it. We will likely make a special trip out this way again to order more food!

We stopped here heading to Savanah and I honestly didn't know what I wanted I just knew I was tired of fried chicken, so I opted for some simple corn nuggets with ranch. The woman at the counter was amazing, answering everyone's questions, packing food, ringing up customers and never missing a beat. The nuggets were fresh, everything I needed was in the bag and her customer service was on POINT!!!!!

We had been on the road all day and we were really ready for dinner. It was after 9p which tends to limit your options. Found this place on Yelp and discovered it was practically across the street from our hotel. It's not in the truck stop but is next door to the truck stop and behind a row of gas pumps. The girl working the counter was great (and very patient as my wife studied the large menu. I had the shrimp po boy which was excellent. It came with a generous portion of really good crinkle fries. My wife settled on the tilapia and shrimp dinner. Her dinner included generous portions of tilapia, shrimp and fries. She said her tilapia was about the best she had ever had. The place is not much to look at but the food was exceptional. Thanks to Yelp for finding this place.

Stopped in for lunch based on the reviews and was so glad we did! The food was amazing- from the tenders to the shrimp to the tilapia, I'd order it all again. The place itself is right off the highway and the perfect place to stop!

Fried tilapia and wings.

Food was good and you can tell the frying oil is clean unlike some places. Located at a gas station right off the highway so a bit busy with truckers. Food is nice and hot when you get it. Downside is fries were soggy in most of our meals and the Ranch taste like mayonnaise.

5pc chicken wings

Why are the Chipotle ranch tacos so delicious??…read more First time trying Zaxby's. Stopped here after striking out on finding anything southern and affordable in historic Savannah. This wasn't really the fried chicken experience we were hoping for, but we were so hot, tired, and angry after our trip into the city that we settled for fast food. At least it was something new for us. The crinkle cut seasoned fries were surprisingly delicious. I usually don't like seasoned fries, but something about Zaxby's seasoning blend hit vaguely of home. It must share a couple of spices with Old Bay. I had the Kickin' Chicken Sandwich because the Texas toast style bread looked full of carbs and comforting. It was a fine sandwich. I wouldn't get it again, but the half I took back to the hotel with me still hit at room temperature, so there's that. Jeremy had the garlic Buffalo wings. The woman behind the counter told him it was third on their spice level, but they weren't spicy at all. They weren't overly garlicky either. I'm glad he liked them. They didn't appeal to me, but I don't like Buffalo flavor. He also got some chicken sandwich, which he has no recollection of two days later, as I write this. He does remember those tacos, though. I'm not sure we would return to Zaxbys. We were warmly greeted, and the service was excellent, but you can get better chicken sandwiches elsewhere. Maybe for the tacos.

Everything was fresh and hot. Got order in a timely manner. The restaurant was clean.read more

Because the restaurant is downtown there is plenty of free street parking spaces right outside the door. There is a bar, with bar seating, The other seating consisted of normal table with hard back chairs, and couches that ran down the side of the wall with tables, and hard back chairs on the other side. Overall, the service was adequate, not good, and certainly not great, but good enough not to stop us from enjoying our night out. I started with what was supposed to be a cup of Tomato Bisque but received and paid for a bowl. Somewhat my fault for not realizing that my serving and what I paid for was large and more expensive than the cup I ordered. With that said, I thought the flavor of the bisque served with, Garlic Buttered Crostini, and grated Smoked Gouda was outstanding. The temperature could have been a bit warmer, but again the flavor was sport on. The wife and I split a very large bowl of PEI Mussels. The Mussels were served in a white wine broth with Shallots, Garlic, Roasted Tomatoes, and Bacon. Honestly, I could and did finish the broth off as a soup. There were quite a few Mussels that did not open, but the bowl was so large, we wouldn't have eaten them anyway. The wife's main dish was the Pan Seared Sea Scallops, with peach and bacon risotto, and fresh Spinach. The dish was finished with an amazing Bourbon Peach Brown Butter Reduction. The scallops were large, the Risotto was great, but the brown butter reduction was the absolute star of the dish. For my main dish I had the Curried Lamb Lollipops, served over Cilantro Basmati Rice, and roasted Tomatoes with an excellent curry sauce. The chops were of good size and cooked to perfection. And please don't even get me started on the fired Garlic Butter Paratha which is some of the best bread I have ever had. My mistake was ordering a side of the Peach and Bacon Risotto similar to what was served with the scallop dish. Without the Bourbon Peach Brown Butter Reduction however, the risotto ate a little dry and had little to no peach flavor. I finished my meal with a bourbon , Mascarpone, bread pudding, which was amazing. The dish was loaded with bourbon which both my wife and I agreed was not completely cooked off. Great dish to finish an outstanding meal. Even with a few minor missteps, the overall flavor of the dishes were so good, I still must give it an overall 5.
