Maggie Mae’s - Steak Sandwich and Pasta Salad

This…read moreyear we're in town closer to New Year's and thankfully, we were able to try Maggie Mae's in downtown Brunswick. This definitely appears to be a popular place with locals because most people are greeted by name as they enter the restaurant. I was greeted with a smile and a good morning as soon as I entered the restaurant. They gave me a menu and told that I could sit anywhere I would like. The server was very friendly and relatively attentive. The dining room is adequately filled with six large larger tables and a number of smaller ones that are perfect for two people. They also have four picnic tables outside. They serve breakfast and lunch all day. Yelp shows that they're open until 3 PM, but the menu shows 7 AM to 2 PM Monday through Friday, and the grill is turned off at 1:30 PM. I decided to try their ham and cheese omelette. The menu shows a peace symbol next to the best selling items. The omelette comes with hashbrowns or grits and your choice of toast. The server suggested raisin toast or the biscuit. I typically do not order biscuits because they tend to be dry. Their biscuit was surprisingly good. It was sliced in half and grilled on both sides. It tasted soft and moist after applying butter and strawberry jam. Similar to the biscuit, the ham and cheese omelette was also really good. It was loaded with ham and there was possibly a little more ham than cheese. Overall, I had a positive experience. The food tasted great, and the service felt personable and exemplified southern hospitality. I would definitely consider returning, and I would recommend Maggie Mae's to others Cheers

Where else in the world can you bump into a colleague from three-plus decades ago by accident?…read more We stopped in after reviewing quick lunch spots after leaving Saint Simons. Maggie Mae's look fun and it was. Food: a unique, toasted Cuban sans mustard with a heap of tater tots. Also tasty egg salad with pasta salad. Both with water. All good. Ambiance: this is a local oasis with a wide breakfast and lunch menu, including soup of the day. Sandwiches are specialities but we hate to have missed breakfast. Not opulent but a hometown feel you can't import. Service. Perfect. From ordering to delivery to a quick "hey" from the boss. We'll go again when in the area.

We were greeted immediately upon entering. Everyone was nice. *Patio is cool with the large tree growing in the middle of it. * All 3 of us got a variation of the jerked chicken. * Jerked chicken tostadas were just flavorful and delicious. *Calypso nachos with the jerked chicken, the pineapple paired well and just good nachos. *Pac-rim salad with jerked chicken, big serving and a nice crunch with the cabbage Cole slaw paired with a peanut vinaigrette and the jerked chicken. Delicious. * Our serve was attentive but not over burdening. Checked in, was super pleasant, just darn right nice. *Chocolate bread pudding was recommend and it was moist and warm with a good scoop of vanilla ice cream. The caramel drizzle was the highlight for me. What could of been better: *A me thing for nachos, when piled high the bottom gets soggy before you can enjoy them. Great visit, want to come back and try some other items.

I actually ended up going there twice this week- once for lunch and once for dinner. For lunch I had their Bombay chicken salad where the chicken is curried and on top of a cabbage slaw with a bright citrus vinaigrette. 3 small pieces of flatbread accompanied the salad along with a Fruit chutney that tasted like apple pie. I ordered an additional side of flatbread which came warm and was quite good with the chutney. The curry chicken is outstanding so I was tempted to have it for dinner later that week but decided to try their Bahamian curry which was excellent- a bowl of rice with curried chicken, sweet potato and kale. My husband had the special which was Mahi mahi Marsala and he raved about it. If that is on the menu next time I will definitely get it. The restaurant knows how to spice their food so definitely check it out. They do not take reservations but turnover seems to be pretty quick particularly at lunch.

I had the ODB Brisket sandwich and the brisket was just divine! All the toppings- house pimento cheese, pickled red onion, and white BBQ sauce, blended well with the sliced brisket. My husband had the chicken sandwich and was very happy with how tender the chicken was. We each had a side and shared them. I had the Street corn esquite style and my husband chose the mac n cheese. Both were very tasty! We were enjoying eating our sandwiches so much that I forgot to take pictures of them! We were full (stuffed). BUT, Cora, who was running the place, making sure everything was in order and served promptly, told us about her specialty margaritas and made us one. Wow, was it DELICIOUS! We wanted it spicy so it came locked and loaded with jalapeño infused tequila and tajin on the rim. With the nice foam layer on the top and the combination of every ingredient in the cocktail, along with the presentation, just blew us away! 100% YUMMY! There are other variations to choose from too. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for those who love bbq and definitely recommend it to those who don't know yet if they like bbq but want to try and see what it's about. 6 stars out of 5 for a great lunch or dinner!

Tipsy McSway's is open until 10 PM and the kitchen stops taking orders at 9 PM. After looking over the menu, I decided to try the Brunswick stack sandwich. I had hoped to try the tomato bisque soup as my side, but unfortunately, they only serve chili, not soup, on Mondays. So instead, I ordered the fried potato salad as my side, and it was surprisingly delicious. It comes with small diced potatoes in a warm savory mustard sauce. When I originally asked the bartender what he recommended, he mentioned the Brunswick stack sandwich as well as the smash burgers. While the sandwich was good, I would probably try one of the burgers next time. Nevertheless, I would definitely get the fried potato salad again. The next time I'm in the area, I would definitely consider returning to Tipsy McSway's and I would recommend it to others as well. Cheers
