Nice place…read more Extensive Tapas menu and not too pricey. I am reviewing this from a vegan perspective, though, so a majority of the menu is not applicable so I cannot comment on it. However, there is a fair range of menu items that are vegan suitable (much more than most restaurants, especially in Warrington). There were also plenty of menu items that could be 'veganized' upon request. The food was delicious and I certainly ate more than I should have! The really great thing about this place, for me anyway, was the service. Our waiter was very accomodating of my strange requests of vegan foods that couldn't be spicy or contain a host of other things that does my IBS no good. He (and the chefs, of course) went the extra mile(s) to make sure that I had a decent meal and an enjoyable time, which meant alot to me. Aswell as dining here, I have worked as a photographer for a local soul singer. Again, I found the staff very polite and conscientious, trying not to walk infront of me when I was about to take a shot. I, of course, told them not to worry about that. After dining closes (at around 10pm, I think), the bar stays open and the place turns into a bar lounge of sorts. Although this is not my usual 'night out' choice, I have to say that the atmosphere was most pleasant. Everyone just out for a good time and not even the threat of any trouble (which is unusual for Warrington). The aforementioned soul singer, by the name of Sebastian, has a regular slot at Mojo's. He performs during the latter hours of dining and stays until around midnight. He is always very well received and adds a great vibe to the place, as you would expect a chilled out soul singer to!

I'm afraid that after my visit last night I've had to add comments to my review…read more We took friends on my recommendation for a chilled out meal after a long weekend away expecting a nice chilled out eating experience. I like the idea of tapas because you spend an hour or so eating nibbles as and when they come out. We ordered 13 dishes between for of us expecting them to come out a few at a time when there where ready, nibble, nut, olive first then some of the quicker meals then the rest. Expecting to wait only a few minutes for the first dishes butting us on till some of the others came out. This didn't happen. the Restaurant was only at about 20% capacity and we gave our order and waited at least an hour for the food which all came out together with temperature varying from cold to just warm. I think the chef had been making them as and when and the serving staff fetched them all out when the last one was done. We complained about the cold dishes and was told they'd be replaced. 20 minutes after finishing the other dishes the replacements had not arrived. I told the waiter to forget it. I was thinking maybe they just messed up that night but looking at some other reviews it seems like a trend. None of the food I had was particularly nice. All just basic stuff not that well done. I really do not think I'l be returning. God knows what it'd be like on a busy night. I dread to think. PREVIOUS REVIEW This place was on my hit list for a while but didn't manage to get there. Then a few weeks ago I managed to get there 3 times in a week. I'm afraid that they mainly ended in a champagne haze of merryment so I can't really coment on the finer details or even the cost situation. I do know that I enjoyed each visit and the food, atmosphere and bubbly was good. It did empty my pockets of all the cash I took each time. Next time I go I shall try to be more restrained. It's a good place to go for a celebration and on the Friday we went it had good music playing and a party atmosphere. They have plenty of pricing offers on during the week. The Botanist have a growing number of locations, the big majority of them are in Northern England,…read morethis is one of their newer restaurants which opened towards the end of 2019 in Warrington. The decor inside is typical Botanist style, it does look good and the staff are pretty friendly (although some of them don't seem to be wearing a uniform which meant I didn't even realise someone worked there when I was waiting for a staff member!) It can get pretty busy at peak times, especially in the run up to Christmas, I did originally try to visit on a Sunday afternoon and this place was full, I do recommend making a booking if you can, they do require a credit/debit card for this but they only charge you if you fail to attend, which is a flat £5 (pretty fair, especially considering they can only run at limited capacity to follow government legislation). I was offered a free bottle of prosecco as part of their loyalty scheme which can be redeemed two weeks before (or after) one's birthday, I feel this is a nice gesture, I don't really like prosecco so it's a shame it couldn't be swapped for anything else other than a soft drink, especially considering most of their cocktails are much cheaper anyway - that is an issue with Head Office and it's still a nice gesture to offer something for free. I ordered the gluten-free chorizo and chicken kebab, it seems the recipe has been changed slightly, there seemed to be more garlic butter actually on the chicken rather than pouring it over (which has been replaced by a paprika oil to give it a slight kick), it gave it that extra flavour and tasted really good, the chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the chorizo was just OK, and the fries on the bottom were good. My friend, who ordered the fish and chips was also pleased with her dish, she mentioned: "It was almost perfect, however, the curry sauce was a little watery." I also like how they now have a digital bill, not only is this better for the environment but it means I can have a receipt emailed to me and also fill in feedback on the tablet which they serve it on. 4* - The food was really good, and this is one of my favourite locations in The Botanist chain and I will be returning. A couple of flaws mentioned but all in all a pretty good place to grab some food.

Wow, just wow! Why can't this place be in London?!?…read more So I'm banished to Widnes for work, but all is well as I've found this lovely place in Warrington. Reasonably priced dim sum, although I don't know how it compares in price to other places in area to be fair, a good bar with proper cocktails, and live music at times if tonight is anything to go by. (Most dishes are between £3 and £4, with a "gourmet" selection on the back of the checklist that is closer to £7 a dish.) The star is admittedly the dim sum menu... it's a proper check the box dim sum menu that is luckily served at any hour... I've been to too many places that advertise as having dim sum that actually only have a dim sum starter, or worse have a good dim sum menu only available at restricted times. There's your standard fair, but also things a bit more exotics such as stuffed chillies, rib ends with garlic and chilli, asparagus with chilli and garlic, etc... and of course chicken feet, because one must. The place is clean, with a bit of a classy feel to it without being too over the top, and has a good atmosphere with really pleasant staff that do a good job of making you feel welcome. They do have a standard menu, but I doubt I'll ever be able to comment on it! :D If you're in the area for one reason or another and a fan of dim sum then you must make your way here... I already know I'll have an embarrassing amount of check-ins when I'm in town... watch this space.

I was visiting Blackburn from across the pond on business and decided to try a good British steak…read more When scrolling through the local offerings, I noted that the Hudson Smokehouse offered a stone cooked steak. Since I had never had one prepared that way, I thought I'd give it a try. I enjoyed the experience. The perfect size rib eye steak was brought out with beautiful grill marks, sizzling on a hot stone for me to finish the cooking to my preferred state of doneness (medium rare of course). I sprinkle on a little salt & pepper, flipped it over twice until it had a nice sear & was ready to go. The flavor of the meat was great, it was a perfect medium rare. The experience was worth it. If I had a choice though, I'd have preferred an option for a side other than 'chips' - mashed or baked would have been preferred. I give the Hudson Smokehouse a hearty thumbs up.

First visit to the Hudson smokehouse last night, this place is huge!…read more Brilliant if there is a group of you wanting an affordable meaty feast! I absolutely love the decor in this place it's very rustic. They have live music every Saturday night, there service was excellent all staff are extremely friendly and helpful - thank-you to the lady who looked after us last night, unfortunately I do not know your name. I had the "bourbon" burger last night and my partner had the "Bull & boar" we halved them so we could try both....both really nice (coleslaw and chunky chips delish too) they have a decent choice on the menu from chicken, pulled pork, burgers, ribs, and steaks, it's defiantly a mans meaty American style dream. Its a perfect place if you just fancy a lunch/tea with your family or friends that's not pricey and a drink or two after with some live music, without dressing up "to the nines" the cocktails sounded really nice but we didn't have any as we were driving, a sparkling water was as exciting as it got ha! And the milkshakes looked ace but the portions of our main were so generous we couldn't stomach anything else.

Again the toilets are upstairs and a little seculded, just to be cautious go with your children. They have now introduced a single disabled toilet downstairs, a key needs to be obtained from the tills to use it however. Due to its town centre location, it can get very busy at peak times and weekends. This does cause a few issues. - despite it having two large dining areas over two floors finding a table can be difficult. - You can sometimes wait in line longer than the time it takes to actually eat your food. - there may also be a further wait for your food after ordering as they don't always manage to keep up with the rush. - due to the disorganised queuing system (which involves customers forming a crowd around the tills) people who joined the Que after you may be served before you. So best to avoid weekends and between around 12 til 2. The food is exactly what you would expect from a macdonalds restaurant, quickly cooked and seemingly thrown together in a rush. The food temperature can vary, it can either be scalding hot, or lukewarm if it's been sitting a while. Either way the temperature drops rather quickly, so eat fast before it goes cold.
