You walk into a room with huge black chandeliers, gold Rococco mirrors and divine zebra striped chairs and all around there are clothes galore. Where to start? Well, Bee Chic stocks everything from floaty Nina Scimento frocks and cocktail dresses to jumper dresses, over-sized printed t-shirts and white linen jackets. Ladies shopping can be a mean fete and this is one place you can go to with your mum, niece, teenage daughter or friends and no one will be bored, loitering around the door, dying to escape or fiddling with their mobile phone as though their life depended on it. Prices here are so diverse it is confusing. There are satin dresses fit for a ball costing £199, jumper dresses at £29 and jackets being sold for £40. Bee Chic is a market full of wares. It stocks a range of well made costume jewellery and I particularly love those liitle diamante earings and necklaces inspired by Chanel and Vivienne Westwood designs. There are watches full of bling, miniature mirrors, candlesticks and Marilyn Monroe shopper bags- tres chic. This shop also specialises in quality leather goods and I defy you not to discover a clutch or bag you want to skip away with. I ventured into the rear changing area where there are two cubicles hidden behind thick, luxurious black and white fleur de lys curtains. Cheryl the assistant is a real diamond of a lady and cannot do enough for you. She works as part of a team with the owner Barbara who is responsible for sourcing all these products. As it happened, the bride and groom insisted on some formalities. We were told about Felicity's by the bride's mother and I was taken along (under protest) to help with the choice. In the event, I quite enjoyed the experience as the service we got was excellent. I am presuming that it is Felicity who served us, as I have only seen the one woman in there. She was wonderful and spent a long time selecting lots of possibilities, based on the clothing to be worn and my wife's hair colouring. I was asked my opinion, and listened to, even though she didn't know I spent twenty years as a fine arts teacher and actually do have some idea of aesthetics. In the end we agreed on a hat which really did suit, painlessly paid for it and departed with the hat carefully wrapped and in an impressive hat-box. On return, I was given a receipt to say that it had been returned in good condition and the lady was genuinely interested in how the wedding had gone. All-in-all, I would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a beautiful hat whatever the occasion; there are a surprising variety of styles and colours, as well as other accessories available in a relatively tiny shop.

When we eventually tried Matalan, they not only had a choice, they were £7 a pair for reasonable quality. When I was asked about a card, I thought it may come in useful at some time, filled in the information, was given a temporary card and got £1 off the trainers immediately! Definite points for the store there! What I was impressed by was that, although the prices are ridiculously low, most of the products are good quality - at least as good as most normal shops. I couldn't give five stars, however, due to the long wait to get served. There was a snake of people all waiting patiently and two tills in operation, every time I have been in, no matter what time of day. I still recommend Matalan to everyone for whatever clothing they need.

This Warrington store has had a recent refurbishment, and now looks bigger than it did previously. The shop is really spacious, and there are no problems shopping with a pram. The shop has a great selection of everyday clothes. You can pick up tops for £2.50, and leather shoes for a tenner. They also have regular offers, and 3 for 2's on gifts, especially around Christmas time. Most of the staff are really friendly, and car parking is usually fine. Be aware, however that the store does get busy. Weekends can be a nightmare, and even with all the checkouts open, be prepared to queue!

However much like Wigan we found this store quite small in comparison to some of the others we've visited in places like Liverpool, Manchester and Blackpool. Happily for me neither found anything they hadn't already seen in other branches so my wallet remained unopened and intact. If you're in Warrington then have a look but if you really want the full Primani experience then head for Liverpool or Manchester instead.
