Yes, stories of overcharging are accurate unfortunately. The plumber who came to my house was great, David. I think he was knowledgeable and his manner was excellent. He properly diagnosed that we needed a new pressure release valve (PRV) because pre-covid 2 other plumbers told me we needed that so I know it was accurate. When I asked how much the first estimate he gave was $1300 which I knew was way high. I couldn't remember the exact estimate the other plumber gave me in March for the same job but I knew it was around $350 to $500. When I balked David lowered the price to $995 and because I am so frazzled and stressed I said yes just do it. Then it turns out I need 2 PRV's so it would cost another $1000 and that's if he doesn't need to replace my shut off valve. I did an internet search for PRV replacements in my area and high end is $365. See screenshot below. I don't mind even paying high end $500 for a good job but $2000 for a job that top price should be $800 is unacceptable. I called Mr Plumber to talk to a manager about it and was told all the managers are "in a meeting, can I tell them what this is regarding". Code for we don't want to call you until we get a story down imo. I told them a manger can either call me back or read about it in my Yelp review so Voila. I do have more plumbers coming to give estimates tomorrow so in all fairness will let you Yelp readers know what I find out re: price. read more

Zero stars... this company just puts out a call to plumbers to see if someone can come, you could call around yourself and you'd likely be better off in a plumbing emergency. We called the 877-434-8447 phone number and someone said a tech would call us to schedule, that they "could get us in for an emergency service today". I got a text message from: 855-211-3662 that said: Your appt with Mr. Rooter Plumbing, a neighborly co is scheduled for today, to change, call: 720-642-7800, so I called to confirm the time and was told we are in fact confirmed, but no time yet. We had a burst pipe and waited all day on these folks, I called back and confirmed every two hours that we were in fact "confirmed" and advised how the water is off to the house and it's going to be freezing tonight and we're unable to turn the water on due to the flooding that occurs and was told again and again that "someone is on the way", "you are confirmed", one lady even told us, "your appt window is now, he should be arriving at any minute"...we sat anxiously watching out the window, waited for a call, ... nothing. I called another 2 hours after that and was told not to worry, you're still on the schedule for this afternoon, I called again 2 hours after that, now it is after 6pm and was told that no one was coming today, it would be tomorrow. She went on to say that they just request out to see if anyone can reply and that no one there should have told me anything was confirmed, that they just try to get someone out. By now it was too late to get anyone else for same day appt. I get it, it's short notice and everyone is busy right now but when there's an emergency, don't tell someone that they are confirmed when you are going to see IF a pro can respond...and especially don't continue lying to them advising someone's coming, especially in an emergency situation the day before a holiday. We certainly had another option to have someone else out who truly could make it same day but I regretfully put my faith in this company and their employees answering their phones, who continued to tell me that we were in fact: confirmed. If i could i would leave a 0 star review because they have done literally 0 work for me. I had a pipe freeze and break at 2 am so I called for an emergency fix. After calling I was told I had an appointment scheduled and that dispatch would call me "very shortly" once a technician was on the way. Because of this I opted to just stay awake/ doze off on the couch and wait for someone to show up "shortly". After falling asleep on the couch, I woke up at around 7 am then decided just to head to Home Depot and get the supplies and teach myself how to fix the problem. This forced me to go without water all Christmas Eve but I suppose I was forced to learn a new skill in return so silver lining. Thankfully I am capable of doing the work myself but cant help but think of if they are treating the elderly or disabled like this, forcing them to live without water. It has now been 48 hours since calling for an emergency fix and being told a technician would be sent out shortly and I haven't even been contacted by dispatch yet. I get that it is Christmas and most people aren't working but just tell me you don't have anyone available to come out so that I'm not waiting for you then forced to go with around 3 hours of sleep for the holiday while I wait for you to never come. Ultimately I'm thankful for such a poor representation of your company since I most likely saved hundreds of dollars by not giving it to such a poorly managed company. I will not be calling Mr Rooter for any future issues I may have and will be advising other to do so as well. read more

I was quoted $99 for a promotional drain cleaning. When the man got here, the price was $350 because it was an inside clean that was needed (per the technician). Ultimately it was roots outside and should have had the outside clean. Then they tried to sell me a dig out of my sewer line. If I need this, I would never use them. Don't believe them. read more

Our main line was backed up. We were told that someone would be out within the next two hrs. Hadn't heard anything and then I was told that it needed to be reschedule. Finally someone came and cleared the drain but did not have the proper cap. Three different people have been out with "the cap" however it has not been fixed. Our floor is still covered in water and only one of the men wore covers on his shoes. There has been no communication between the three people they have sent out. One was a field supervisor and he left the house without saying anything to me. DO NOT USE THEM read more

Mr. Rooter was the only plumber available to come out after hours to repair my leak. A competitive plumbing company offered to send someone out in 5 days although they advertise 24/7. Mr. Rooter was responsive, polite, and reasonable in price for the service provided. I felt that I received great value for my money and the problem is fixed! read more

Worst plumbing company ever. They shouldn't even be in business. The plumbers were highly unprofessional and gave misinformation, trying to get way more money out of a simple fix. Then they just left the site without giving an update or saying anything, and when I called to see what was going on they just said they thought everything was gone and then cut me off and put me on hold for no reason. Everything was great. The crew that did my sewer line replacement were all very professional and very hard workers. They never wasted any time getting the job done. They cleaned up after each day of work which took 3 days to complete the project. Abe Aragon, the Project Manager that handled all of the communication and oversaw much of the project and always called me back with any questions that I had. Mr. Aragon is very professional and I would be glad to have any staff members from Mr. Rooter back to help with any future plumbing issues that I may have. I scheduled an appointment to have my sewer line snaked. First off, I've been a home owner for over 20 years, so I know what it means to have your line snaked. This guy walked around the outside of my house and didn't find some magical sewer port that would allow him to do the work from the exterior. Doesn't exist... I know that. Then he returns to my front door failing to find this magic exterior sewer access, and says this... (get this, this is rich...). "For me to snake your line, I'll have to go to my truck, get my machine, and bring it in your house, risk damaging your home... so that's gonna be $350." (they quoted me $99) My response was, "God forbid you have to do your job and bring your machine into my house!" Sorry dude... you have to bring your machine into the house... that's the way it works. This nitwit then had the nerve to give me a quote to have my sewer line "power washed" for $1400 instead. He did his best to talk himself up "I did the plumbing for most of Denver for the past seven years, so I know plumbing," and it was in my best interest to have my line power washed. He was so condescending, it was laughable. I sent him away, hoping he felt like his time was as wasted as mine was. I rushed home to meet this clown. This is the worst company ever. Clearly they're trying to take advantage of people who don't know any better. Do yourself a favor, see anyone besides Mr Rooter. read more

The person on the phone said I could use it for my kitchen drain clean out, which is what I made the appointment for. When the service guy came I was billed for $350, the small print on the coupon says "external access only". The receptionist should have pointed that out. RIP OFF FOR $250!!! I'm not surprised to see that other reviewers also complain about overcharging. Their website said they charged $99 for a drain cleaning. When Josh got here, he said he had to charge $490 because there was 'no outside access' to the pipes. I'm a senior, single woman; he saw that, and he saw that I was over a barrel and needed to fix the problem asap, and he took advantage of the situation. He "kindly" offered to give me a senior discount, reducing the price to $450, which I agreed to because the situation was desperate. He then gave me an estimate of approx $6000 to clear roots from pipes running to the street. I got two additional estimates: Both plumbing companies that gave me the estimates said a) they would have charged me less than $200 (not $450) for the initial pipe clearing, and b) the cost for clearing out the front yard pipes would be less than $2000.
