Good yum cha but unremarkable This is a pretty good spot for…read moreyum cha. We came here for lunch on a weekday. It was quiet and the staff were friendly and attentive. The dishes we ordered were good but we thought that the dumpling skins were a little bit glutinous, which makes the yum cha a bit stodgy and heavy! The egg tarts were quite right either - the filling was good but the pastry seemed undercooked and oily. Apr 28, 2016 We stopped here for yum cha with friends on the way from the airport to the CBD because this was the highest rated yum cha restaurant in Sydney. It was lunch time on a Saturday and the queue stretched out of the door and down the street. Luckily we had made a booking so we were able to go straight in as soon as a table became available. The restaurant is quite small so there is no room for the dumplings to be wheeled around on trolleys - instead the wait staff bring them around on trays. The food was good but not outstanding, the service was good and the prices were very reasonable.

Hung Cheung as with most Yum Cha might require a bit of a wait as it's teeming with business however it's worth it and at almost half the price of the other Yum Cha restaurants and the efficiency of service is a force to be reckoned with. Squeak.....Squeak...... Squeak that's the white noise in Heung Cheung as all the trolleys roll past. Paper lanterns hang from bright pink walls all the garish of cheap bling. We wait like animals crouching for prey and then we hit. Prawn dumplings, Yeow Chee, Sumei, Chinese broccoli, pork dumplings and custard tarts for the finale. Feel lucky to be part of a city that has so much diversity in cuisine. Verdict: For two people 8 dishes were $37.50, fantastic service and wonderful food.

I was lucky to find a park (even on a Sunday night) and my sat NAB said I was 50 meters away. Lucky, as I walked past the place and only recognized the neon sign. The window is covered by tanks of fish, crab etc. walked into a small restaurant and was concerned about the seating but realized they have another level. Food was very good. The puppies with xo sauce on fried noodles and the fresh fish with ginger and shallots were as good as any Chinese seafood restaurant. The other dishes, such as Peking duck, pork chops with plum sauce, mixed veg, salt and pepper crab and the usual traditional dishes were also surprisingly tasty. The reason I was surprised, is because the restaurant does not look like much. Outdated fitout and very unassuming. The service was reasonable and I did feel sorry for the other two tables with us upstairs, as we were a noisy group with kids and they were small tables of 3 and 4. I would recommend Eaton for their seafood and their pricing was reasonable. Certainly compared to the city/Chinatown Restaurants. Also heard they are open till 2am! So if you had a big night at the pub and are near Ashfield, skip the kebab and go for some quality Chinese. Your stomach will thank you (as well as your tastebuds)

Shredded pork with pickled vegetables - Someone was craving soup, I did not try, but they seemed to like it. Shanghai pan fried pork buns - My favorite. Good proportions with bread and filling. Shanghai salted pork and veg fried rice - Not good or bad, the dish did not stand out, fairly plain but good enough as a comfort dish. String beans with dried shrimp - Gotta have some veggies, same as above. Shanghai stir fried noodles - Another one of my favorite dishes, love those noodles. Tea from real tea leaves, see picture. Atmosphere - Medium size restaurant. Some portions of the restaurant sectioned off, potentially for private events. Open kitchen & open kitchen counter seating. Cool decor. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 8:30pm or 9pm; website hours differ. Direct competitor next door, you might be putting them out of business? Service - Okay, went out of our way to get the waitress and manager attention to let us pay. Our guests are aggressive, and we wanted to make sure we paid. The team was slightly confused, so I had to check with the waitress and manager several times to get their assurances that we were paying. Membership, loyalty program. See website. Price - After all that fighting for the bill, I signed the check in a hurry and did not even know what I paid. I'm guessing $150AUD, $100US...? Which I believe includes tax and tip? Sorry, can't remember. I just remembered being frazzled... Reasonable price for what we got. Owner Comment - Congrats on your 12 locations and growing! Oh, are you a franchise system? Just noticed it on your website.

There are some outstanding dishes (XLB) and the prices are quite reasonable for the portion size as compared to other restaurants in Sydney. + Really delicious XLB. Compared to Din Tai Fung's XLB (which I had in Seattle area), I think I enjoyed these more. Soup was good, the filling was nice and smooth. The skin was thin but not as fragile and I even enjoyed the thicker bit where the XLBs are sealed. + Weekday lunch specials are a great deal (~$9.80). + Dishes are prepared quickly without sacrificing quality and presentation. + Pastry with red bean paste was also very good as a dessert. The sesame seeds on top add a nice nuttiness to the flaky pastry.
