This place was right next to our hotel in a little strip mall. What a nice surprise! The staff here was so kind and had great recommendations! We will forever be indebted to them for telling us about the double maple bar! (Maple frosted donut filled with maple cream) Holy cow where has that been all our life? Removing a star. Very poor customer service today. The lady behind the counter didn't greet us when we walked up to the counter. She just looked at us and didn't say anything. Kind of odd. Then I realized she was talking on her phone through her bluetooth. She was speaking Spanish under her breath to someone on the phone. She spoke on the phone throughout our entire transaction. Give this place a try! I waited so long for this location to open up as it's right next to my work. Located in the Andresen plaza, it can be a little bit hard to miss, but keep your eye out because stopping at Mr. Maples is worth it! The donuts we tried were chocolate, chocolate coconut, butter nut, and a maple cream. The chocolates and butter nut were delicious, moist and and fluffy. The real treat was the maple cream though. In my humble opinion, most cream filled donuts are super sugary sweet to the point of a bellyache, Mr Maples' however are PERFECT. So light, and every bite is a subtle treat that leaves you wanting more. These guys obviously know what they're doing. As of right now they are open until 5 pm everyday offering takeout. I have been wanting to try this new donut shop and stopped in and saw they had bear claws(my favorite). I also got an old fashioned and a Carmel latte. Now, don't get me wrong, the donuts were very good, just not what I had expected for a "classic" donut shop. The bearclaw was a donut you would normally use with a cream filling & not a flaky puff pastry as is standard with Bearclaws. It was also filled with an apple filling and not an almond paste. I wouldn't have ordered these had I known the deviation of the traditional bearclaw. The Carmel Latte was also a traditional donut you would expect to have a filling, but there was none. Just cream frosting. The old fashioned was your traditional style donut. Again, the donuts were good, just not traditional in what you would normally expect from our beloved donuts. read more

A little new to the Vancouver scene and craving for some donuts. The only wife-approved shop we go to is Sesame Donuts but only the Hillsboro location where we were previously located. We ordered half dozen donuts and 4 donut holes. Love the fluffy texture on their donuts (even though we came in near the end of the day). Although I have only tried to Bavarian Creme and the donut holes so far (the rest for the next day), the quality is excellent and not overly sweet. Very inconsistent at the Andreson location. We are monthly or more customers, and always purchase a dozen plus. We are disappointed to find that, the last few months it seems of every 12 donuts we have purchased we get 4 or 5 burnt or donuts that are missing their filling. Today for example, our chocolate cake donut was so hard and burnt it was inedible. 2 of our filled donuts, had no filling. At first, I thought I had wrongly assumed the donuts in question the were supposed to be filled. However, after intentionally questioning every donut purchased and only purchasing the ones I've vetted and know to be filled yet still finding them unfilled leads me to believe that it's the workers. read more

I really liked Mr. Maple Donuts! It kind of reminds me of Dunkin Donuts. I don't know if that sounds like a good or bad thing to some people. It's a great thing in my opinion! I don't usually care for stuffed powdered donuts, but I got a little nostalgic for Dunkin Donuts' upon seeing Mr. Maple's Oreo frosting stuffed powdered donuts. Delicious! The sugar melted quickly in my veins, I was happy--until I ate a quarter of 4 different donuts--all good and then got hit hard by the sugar coma. Was it worth it? Yes.
