I was a little skeptical coming in after reading some reviews, but we ended up going for a work birthday lunch and I'm glad we did. We were a group of 9 and got seated quickly, and the service was great the whole time. They brought out complimentary chips and salsa, and we ordered queso for the table. It wasn't the best queso ever, but definitely worth it for a group. We also ordered a spicier salsa that was actually really good. Most of us got burritos and everyone loved them. I ordered the steak mambo and it was a HUGE plate. It came with enchiladas, steak, shrimp, and rice. I saved the enchiladas for later but everything was delicious. The music was such a vibe too, I was singing along to almost every song. Super nostalgic for me. I'd recommend checking it out if you're in BA. read more

The chicken did have a good taste, but was drowning in the cheese sauce which did not taste good. The rice had no flavor. The corn tortillas were good. The chicken spinach plate was good, but, didn't follow directions. There was too much salt in the dish and spinach tasted like a spinach dip. The rice had no flavor. The sampler was good but the steak was tough. Overall Not very good. Considering all the reviews reporting the opposite. Its a nice atmosphere, but average to below average food. Disappointing. The sauce on my street tacos was mostly mayo. The meat was dry. The best thing I ordered was water and rice. Waiter never refilled our drinks that were empty half way through our meal. On a Saturday evening (May 4th, 2024) around 6pm, I stopped by this restaurant with 6 others while celebrating my cousin's birthday. We just finished the escape room / axe-throwing venue across the street. Apparently, this restaurant has been on her list to visit so we all figured why not. It was a good weather day but surprisingly the restaurant wasn't as busy as I would've expected. The interior was spacious and there were plenty of staff members available. I liked the upscale appeal of the interior - the tables were made of a marble-type surface with wooden edging, the chairs were fashionable yet comfortable, and there was great lighting throughout. It was windy so we decided to sit inside. Also, the staff were all dressed etiquette, all black presentation (which is something that many industries have done away with). We were sat toward the front, the hosts and server(s) added a table to one of the booths to seat us all. The service was immediate. As we sat, the server handed out waters and menus for the table while asking if we wanted drinks. As we browsed the large menu, we were nowhere near close to ordering but he checked back with us a couple of times until we ordered drinks. I ordered a large frozen mango margarita while three others ordered 3 similar drinks. After we finished scaling the menu, I initially wanted the Steak Don Jose but someone else ordered before me (and I'm a fan of trying different things) so I ended up asking for the Quesedilla Azteca, one with chicken and one with ground beef. When the food arrived, everything instantly looked fantastic. The plates themselves were huge and each had "devour me" written all over them. To my surprise, the two quesedillas were enormous, taking up most of the entire plate. They were barely closed as they were stuffed with cheese and meat then smothered with more cheese. Each bite was instantly satiating, filling me up but still wanting more. As much as I tried finishing both, I had to ask a to-go box for the rest. By the end, everyone was stuffed. The service was very consistent! When we were done, to-go boxes were brought as plates were being picked up. Though we were a party of 7, the checks were divided appropriately with no issue. I'm not normally in Broken Arrow but I was overwhelmed with joy that I was able to eat at Mr. Mambo's while I was there. The service was very attentive from start to finish. The drink was generous, almost never-ending. Great ambiance as well! But the food really is what you want from a Mexican restaurant. The portion size does not compromise the quality. I would enjoy visiting during sundown next time. I would highly recommend this establishment for a stop-in, with a friend or family, lunch or dinner. read more

This is my husband and I's go to Mexican spot because of the margaritas and the proximity to our house. We are probably here at least once a week. The blue margarita is my favorite margarita anywhere and is consistently strong and delicious. Service is quick, and food is consistent. Love their queso! read more

Today's container of salsa was less than 1/2 the size of what we were receiving earlier in the year... which, in turn, was only half the size of what Mambo was providing in their takeout bags 3 or 4 years ago. My favorite guacamole & the best chicken tortilla soup!! Refresh on exterior has improved your presence at 101st & Elm. However, please clean your interior. Do a deep clean. Windows & wall decor is covered in a layer of dust. Take a hard look at floor, menus and all interior presentations. Remove dead plants from patio. There are many Mexican food options in Broken Arrow, but this spot is just so easy to get from my neighborhood! It does sit on the busy corner of 101st and Elm which makes it super easy to get to really for anybody. So, the restaurant itself! From the outside it looks super cool and inviting. Given it's location it's kind of a good idea to do that! When you come inside though it looks a little dank and in need of some updates and repairs. It happens sometimes with local spots though right? The service I have had here is always spot on with the staff being friendly and attentive. On my last visit my server never let me run out of sweet tea and I was so thirsty that day but it kept on coming! I like that! The food options here are what you'd expect to find in Oklahoma. Clean friendly atmosphere. Chips were very good. I do not know for sure but they taste like local made or hi end chips either way. Same with the salsa. Very good. We both ordered burritos and the tortillas were also fresh and good tasting. To me they actually tasted creamy! They were good. We both enjoyed the meal. The Big Mambo is the real deal. One platter has an enchilada, a chile relleno, a tamale, a burrito and lots of white queso. The other platter contains a crispy taco, a chalupa and beans, rice and sour cream and guacamole. Poor service both times we were there. 1st time appetizer came out after food and not once was our glasses refilled. 2nd time 5 of our 6 meals were delivered and after asking 3 people the 6th meal was delivered. 6th meal was supposed to have left off shrimp due to allergy which I said. Love this place. It hard to eat at other Mexican places without comparing it to this joint, however today the salsa was Spicier than it has been. I love spicy things, but if it is t broke don't fix it. I love the chapala special is what the old Menu said but new menu said chapas.
