This is the most legit place I've found in Norman for Chinese food that really hits the spot. I used to work off 23rd St in OKC and the Asian district was just down the way and how I missed that level of authenticity ever since making the move a little further south. You can get take out and it will run ya more than a cheap place but it's worth it and it's not basic Chinese food either, lotta dishes you don't find on Americanized Chinese take out menus. Got the orange chicken with lo mein, crab rangoons, and a side of fried rice. Came out to almost $30. Food was okay, not the best. Chicken was tough, lo mein was like rubber, crab rangoons were good, fried rice was fried rice. Worst part, however, was finding a hair in the lo mein. It was long and black, so it wasn't my girlfriend or I's hair (redhead and dirty blond). Pretty much ruined my appetite for the rest of the meal. Okay, so the actual restaurant is kinda dingy and strange. BUT they deliver with grub hub and the food is worth all five stars. it is seriously SO GOOD. Egg rolls? Bomb. Any noodles on the menu? SMACKS. Chicken fried rice? Beyoncé. This is my binge eating heaven. read more

Came here after a baseball game at OU because it was open until 10:30 on a Saturday night. Exceeded expectations by far! First and foremost I have no idea why this is an a full five-star restaurant it is bar none the best Chinese food I have had in Oklahoma since I left San Francisco 28 years ago. Really good new Chinese place that's housed in a building that had another Chinese place, Bashu Legends. I never tried Bashu, so I can't comment on whether the menu is better or worse at Mr. Hui's. But, I can say that Mr. Hui's is above average, particularly for Norman. I arrived at Mr. Hui's around 12:30. There were a few table seated. It's a very simple space, but the tables weren't jammed together, so you'd have some room even if it was completely packed. Additionally, it was clean, as was the restroom. The menu is large (see photographs) and contains no explanations. Some dishes need no explanation, but I wondered what a lot of them were. Although, I suppose if they added explanations for each dish would result in the menu being 20 pages long. I was approached immediately by a server. I decided to go with the braised pork for lunch and steamed buns for an appetizer. She informed me the steamed buns take 10 minutes, which I appreciated. I was fine with the wait, I'd heard they were worth it. Then, she came back to inform me that they were out of braised pork, and it would take at least a half hour. This wouldn't work since I was on my lunch hour, so I went with Hui's crazy spicy chicken. The server recommended the pork belly, which I will definitely try on my next visit. I added a side of fried rice for a buck. The food came out together after about 10-12 minutes or so. The dumplings were steaming hot, as they should be. I allowed them a minute or two to cool down, then ate one. It was an explosion of flavorful broth in my mouth. The dumplings were soft, but not gummy. Very good, absolute re-order. As much as I liked the dumplings, the crazy chicken was the star of the lunch. It's small, crispy fried pieces of chicken with peanuts, tofu, a few veggies, and lots of pepper. I asked for it to be spiced at an 8/10. It was certainly hot, but didn't cause pain. The dish is seasoned very well and the ingredients complement one another. Also, not greasy at all. Very crispy and tasty. I really enjoyed the tofu, which is no small feat with me. The fried rice was also fresh, contained the usual veggies and egg, and was likewise seasoned very well. For a dollar, it's a great deal. I'll definitely be back. There are several lunch specials that seem to be very reasonable, along with the pork belly I need to try. Hopefully Norman supports this place, it's definitely the kind of place I want in my town. read more

Been here twice now and each time was delicious. The first time when we went we ordered the chicken lo mein, general tso and Mongolian beef. All so delicious! The next time we went we ordered the orange chicken (which my two toddlers devoured) sichuan chicken and king pao. The king pao was good but was a little too dried out. Felt it would be better if it was saucier. Overall everything was so delicious. Highly recommend. Plus they are so nice and have great service. read more

I've ordered Mr. Hui several times and it's great every time. The first time I ordered it was a tofu dish (that made me fall in love with the place) as I was trying a plant based diet at the time. I've since ordered chicken dishes and they're good too. Really fresh and a lot of food. There are other Chinese food places closer to me but I'll stick with Mr. Hui's. This is my first time here and I'll definitely be eating from here again. The food was delicious! We had the clay pot seafood soup which was plenty for 4. We also had the crispy squid which was also delicious; it's salty but just make sure you eat it with rice. Entrees run over $10 at dinner, a bit higher than comparable places nearby. But food quality is pretty good here. General Tso's chicken tasty enough, lots of breading but the chicken was still pretty tender inside. Most customers do takeout here, but I rather enjoy the dining room. It is a proper restaurant unlike other takeout places. While it shows a little wear, it was updated at some point not too long ago, and it is very spacious and comfortable with large booths, large tables and chairs. But because dining in is less common here, it can feel very empty and quiet. It is no P.F. Chang's that's for sure. But for what it is and the value, with entrees large enough to feed two, it's a solid 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. Delicious! So glad there is a place that sells authentic Chinese food in Norman! It is located in the same place Bu Shu Legends was. The American Chinese food they served is good too. My husband really liked the sweet and sour chicken. The hot Ginger Milk Tea and the Peach Flower tea are delightful.
