The food was barely ok, but my gosh, doesn't the health department ever visit? Very dirty. The "tablecloths" (if you can call them that) were literally random shredded-edge pieces of stained beige cloth, all mish-mosh sizes on the tables. The place was filled with boxes, Styrofoam containers, and just "stuff" everywhere. Bathroom dirty. Surfaces dirty. Why is my fried rice orange? Why was it even called fried rice to begin with? Bland "fried" rice to start, no flavor. The hot and spicy beef wasn't spicy, and the 4 pieces of beef that were in there took forever to chew. Should be called bland bell pepper with a side of beef. Nice staff took my order on the phone and did fantastic. I was in the area passing through on way home I was craving Chinese. I did a carryout / drive through my food and it was piping hot. Food was good and fresh! Could be a little cleaner and up to date, but it was takeout so didn't really matter.

The late hours here were very much appreciated when we were recently forced off of the highway by a wicked summer squall. Service was also very friendly and helpful over the phone. And the drive-thru was a convenient bonus during the downpour. But, they have yet to open the dining room, even after 7 months of Covid vaccination in our state. As for the food, it was pretty good, a bit up and down. We all liked the flavor of their saucy General Tso's, but it was over breaded and a little tough. The vegetable lo mein badly needed some salt/seasoning. Hot & sour soup was served at an edible heat level, but broth was on the thin side and sparse on ingredients. I liked the mushrooms in it, but why were the handful of them all floating on the top? The rest of the ingredients were all on the bottom, so the thin viscosity was causing a lack of homogeny that I found annoying, fishing for ingredients with every bite. Still, it's a pretty good neighborhood spot for American-Chinese takeout. Sure, maybe food is only a 3, but I upped it to 4 thanks to their patience over the phone and convenient hours. read more

A Wednesday, noon, I've been here once, on a whim, when I was new in town. I remembered it was good and the homemade mustard sauce was spicy. Today, I ordered the beef with garlic sauce, lunch special and then I ordered just a single order of pork lo mein. The beef with garlic sauce came with delicious fresh veggies of plump mushrooms, crisp broccoli, thick carrots, and perfectly cooked green bell peppers. The sauce that came in was not sticky. It was thick and rich, savory, and not gelatinous at all. It was absolutely delicious. I must warn you about the mustard sauce. It is homemade and it is incredibly spicy but in a horseradish way, you can only really dip your fork into it. You can't glop it onto a bite of meat you'll just cough to, but it is worth the extra little bit you get it is so delicious. This entire meal was $16, I think. It has also came with an absolutely amazing eggroll. That was the size of the soy sauce packet, but let me tell you was not dry was not overly fried was not overly greasy, it was absolutely perfect. You must try this place. You must stop by the outside is not impressive to look at the inside is not impressive to look at. So, apparently there was a kitchen fire and they were closed for renovations for a good period of time. They are now open and I couldn't wait to get some great Happy House food. Except that I didn't. I order from Happy House at least twice a month. They have great food more often than not. Sometimes they have bad food. Like when I ordered Seafood Soup for two. Very bad. Tastless watery broth, fake crab meat, three pieces of small shrimp and the rest are veggies. Yesterday, 02/26/2022, I ordered a Chicken With Cashews combo, Chicken Chow Mein combo, Egg rolls and Hot and Sour Soup. The Hot and Sour soup wasn't that good but tolerable. The problem, huge problem, was with the Chicken With Cashew Nuts and the Chicken Chow Mein. The Chicken Cashew has 3 pieces of small chicken and 3 cashew nuts. "Yes, three". The Chicken Chow Mein had no chicken meat a all. I do not knoe if they forgot to include the chicken or if they were out. I wrote them twice at their website but no response. The food was delivered within 25 minutes instead of the 35 minutes stated. The food was extradinarily hot!! The rangoons were good. Ordered sweet and sour chicken. The sauce was separate and we loved it. The chicken were small one inch pieces. They were so good that we didn't want to eat them with the sauce. They were not over breaded and perfectly sized. Loved it! The general Tao was good, too. Small bites and tasty sauce. The egg rolls were smaller than we are used to, but were good. The rice does not appear to be that good, but once you start eating it, it was good. I'm just not too fond of the peas, though. Personal preference. read more

I braced myself as I walked in the door and placed my order with the cashier guy on the phone. I ordered General Tao chicken combo, which came with roast pork fried rice and an egg roll for $7.25. My order was ready in about 7 minutes and I took it home. It took a total of 5 minutes to get home, grab a fork, and have a seat. When I opened my container, the food was still piping hot.
