We ordered a meal bundle at 6pm. It showed online that it would be done at 6:22. We showed up a little late at 6:40 to the curbside pickup. We checked in and 5 minutes goes by and no one comes out. My wife called the location to make sure they saw that we checked in. The guy on the phone said it wasn't ready yet. A few minutes later he brings it out and it was stone cold. We opened up the food at home and there's was virtually no chicken! I measured it out and there was a half cup of chicken for each entree. I thought it was an entree not a snack. There was plenty of rice but the rice was super crunchy and inedible. We ordered lo mein as a side and we ended up with cold spaghetti noodles with veggies on top. The noodles had absolutely no sauce and no flavor. Literally just plain noodles with veggies. As far as the dessert, the Thai donuts were hard and sad. We are very upset and very disappointed. At Pei Wei my order was the grossest food I've ever seen, smelled, and touched. I opened my box waiting for a delicious spring roll. But inside my box was something that looked like a greasy t:rd. I set it aside thinking I'll just try the pad tai. The many red bell peppers made it look red bell pepper confetti. All of my food had slime coating, and WAY WAY WAY over cooked. For instance, I picked out a piece of chicken from the pad tai noodles. That's when the slime coated over heated chicken shot from my fingers like a rubbery canon ball it bounced from the floor before coming to a rest. I carefully removed the lid to the hot and sour soup in order avoid possible hot liquid splash back. Although it was HOT, the gelatinous mass of goo only bounced, jiggling like a blob of hot thick jello. It was Gross. I don't know but think it had carrots. It's not suppose to have carrots! So I don't how there is bright orange clumps floating on top. It's so sad that Pei Wei has changed? New owners? Lazy Staff? My food demonstrated how they seemingly no longer care about the quality of food they serve. I will avoid eating at this Pei Wei restaurant when There is another Chinese restaurant (panda) within 100 yards. I have always been an avid fan of pei wei. The food always tasted so fresh and the portion sizes were great for the price. However, the past few times I have gone, I have just been disappointed. I usually go to the Midwest City location, but I was running errands with my family and decided to hit the Norman location for lunch. Everything was great from ordering to sitting down. However, once our food arrived, the problem surfaced. I ordered my daughter the honey seared chicken kids meal to split with her brother. The minute the food was sat down at the table, I was overwhelmed by an acrid chemical smell. The only way I can describe it was the smell of propane. I took a bite of my daughters food and immediately had to spit it out into my napkin. It was an extremely overwhelming taste of propane. I told the manager, and she acted confused when I told her the way it tasted. However, she brought me another honey seared for my daughter. This one was perfect. The propane smell was completely gone. Problem solved, or so I thought. It turns out, my husband's sweet and sour chicken had the exact same issue. The smell and flavor of propane was even stronger in my husband's food. We were baffled. We told the manager again, and again she acted confused when I was describing the flavor. She said they would make another. Once they brought it out, it tasted the exact same way. At this point, my husband was losing his appetite from the smell. The manager came back and asked if the problem was fixed. I told her that unfortunately, the smell and flavor was still there. At this point in time, she tried to tell me the smell and flavor I was experiencing was vinegar. I'm sorry, but I cook with vinegar all the time. It has NEVER tasted or smelled like propane fumes. Not to mention the fact that I have ordered both of these dishes several times in the past with no problem. Thankfully, the manager took off my husband's chicken from the bill since it was inedible. But as far as returning to pei wei anytime soon, I don't know if I can. I have had this exact same thing happen at the Midwest City location. I'm not sure if it's the way they are preparing their food, but this never happened in the past. It seems to be a new problem surfacing within the Pei Wei kitchen. The textures and flavors are just not the same that they used to be. The rice tastes like that bagged rice that's precooked and you just have to reheat it for 30 seconds. I never thought I would leave a negative comment here but this visit was not that great. I got a regular chicken teriyaki with white rice and a kids honey seared chicken with white rice. Both meals had a bunch of white rice with hardly any vegetables and hardly any sauce. Ive never had that problem. I would had at least got the fried rice for more flavor if that was the case. The place was not that busy either so I think they could have focused on the meal a little better.
