This is my 3rd time being at this restaurant, and I have to say, the experience has always been spot on in every regard. I could not even wait to be finished eating to post this, seriously everyone needs to try this place. We got the orange chicken, the veggie spring rolls, and the chicken lettuce wraps and every single item was amazing. They actually have the best orange chicken I have ever had anywhere!!! Service was great even though we did stop in a little bit late. Very kind servers and food came out promptly with no issues! Also, I have to mention the atmosphere here is so peaceful and inviting. The open floor plan kind of feel makes it feel very roomy and comfortable. I just love this restaurant so much and it has been a staple for me for years. Always consistent and always amazing. My first time here and it was excellent. Their shrimp fried rice was great as were there lettuce chicken cups, and their drinks - which include freshly squeezed OJ, lemonade soda and passion fruit juice - were incredible. Also their steamed dumplings were very good as well. I believe you can also book this place for parties or karaoke. In addition I got a hot green tea and asked for honey, and the server brought one of those mini plastic containers of honey right away, so very impressive. I feel like the staff has literally watched my child grow up, we go here so much. They are always so friendly and welcoming each time. It's our go to for pho in SW OKC but everything else is delicious as well! If not in the mood for pho, the bun rieu is a great alternative. They also have a bun bo hue that is jam packed with flavor. The rice plates are always so hearty and the egg rolls are tasty. They have a lunch special that ends at 2 or 3 pm and it's a great portion for under $10. As for the space, there's so much room and their decor is pleasant. They always seem to have lively music playing when we go, although one time they had me in my feels playing all the sad break up songs. Pretty impressed with my recent meal. I use to love their grilled pork patty rolls, but the recipe has definitely changed. Both their meat and sauce are different. I changed it up this time and got a shaken beef flat noodle dish and combination rice platter. Both decent sizes and definitely tasty! The beef was tender, cooked well with the veggies, along with a slight wok taste to the noodles. The rice platter was a light meal with tender well marinated pork chop with all the sides. I came with my friend who ordered the vietnamese crepe which she enjoyed with fresh veggies. Definitely would like to try some desserts and other main dishes! read more

The noodle soup was one of the best we've had, recommend the noodle soup with bbq pork and wonton, great choice. Wife had the lunch orange chicken with fried rice; flavorful , robust and fresh. I had the broccoli & beef with fried rice; fresh veggies and tender skirt meat, fried rice was sticky. "Is....that what we ordered..?" There is a very high possibility that you will say this when eating at Bistro B and this is probably the best way I could summarize my experience here. Now for the full review.. This place is extremely huge. Like "50-60 tables in the restaurant" huge. I usually come during lunch time and they're never busy. They also have an area near the front register where you can get some of their packaged goodies, teas, ice cream, egg rolls, etc. Food has been hit or miss every time I've been here. On the good visits, I say, "Wow, this is some great tasting, authentic Vietnamese food!" Even my Asian friends approve of this place! On the bad visits, I say, "Wow, that looked nothing like the picture" or "Huh, that description did not match up at all." A lot of the menu is not in English, but there are some brief translations written on the items. I don't have an issue with that though because it just seems more authentic to have it written in Vietnamese. My issue is that the English translations aren't always accurate, and fail to mention certain items like blood, tendon, fish cake, etc. that some people might not be okay with. Also, one of the first things you notice is how big the menu is. Really cool to have that selection, especially with pictures for almost every item. But the issue is that so many of the meals I've ordered look nothing like the picture. When I'm feeling adventurous, it's fun to pick new things and see what my surprise is, but when I just need something good to eat before going to class, it isn't so fun. Most recent examples would be a soup (see pictures) that sounded pretty good from the description. Then when I got my meal, I got a soup with a big bone/tendon that almost looked like a foot or snout, blood chunks, and a soup that had a strong iron taste. My Vietnamese friend loves it, I don't. Similar thing happened with another soup that just ended up just looking like egg drop soup. What I do like about this place is their banh mi, egg rolls, and some other pho or noodle items. They don't skimp out with meat, and I appreciate that. I just have to be extra careful when ordering. Only problem I've noticed with the meat is that it isn't usually seasoned well. All the meat I've had in the banh mi is great, but for chicken, shrimp, and sometimes beef, it just tastes like they were cooked separately, and then thrown into the rice/noodles/broth. The shrimp always has an especially strong seafood taste. Also, their to-go eggrolls at the front counter are delicious and very affordable. I picked up 40 of them for $15 just a few weeks ago. Service is also hit or miss. I've had times where they bring my bill and take my payment, and times where they bring my bill and never return to take my payment, leaving me to sit there and wonder what to do. Fortunately, there is always a cashier up front so you can take it up to them. When it comes to asking questions about the menu, don't ask questions. I've been here 5 or 6 times now and everybody has been nice, but they either have no idea what the food/menu is, or they don't speak English. I will definitely be back here in the future, but I'll be returning with more caution after the last couple visits. read more

The menu is tremendously LARGE! Lots of options if you are a picky eater! They have about everything from noodles to rice dishes to soups and etc. it would be a Good place to go with your family or friends. The portions of the dishes are pretty big so that explains a little of why the prices are a little higher than your normal average Vietnamese restaurants. The service was eh. Typical Asian place! Lololol I felt like they are still adjusting to the restaurants system because it was still new so servers might just be a little out of place when it gets busy. Other then that, I did enjoy the food. There wasn't anything stood out to me really. I was slightly disappointed cause the desserts looked nothing like the picture. I've been here multiple times and the service has gotten worse over time. I'm not sure if it was because it was later at night and they had already let staff go home? A few of my friends were super excited Bistro B opened in OKC since the closest location is in Dallas. I've been here around 3 times with friends. The first time I purchased the chicken vermicelli bowl & it was pretty tasty. The serving size was HUGE & I had leftovers for the next day at work. :) My friend purchased bun bo hue & was super disappointed with the broth & flavor. I tried it too & found it to be very bland & not spicy at all. She does rave about their avocado smash (basically a Vietnamese desert called che), though. :) The boba is so-so. They probably have 60+ grams of sugar in a cup, though, bc they are uber sweet. o_O Thus, I definitely recommend asking for half the sugar. They sure do have a lot of flavors...so you have a lot of options depending on what you're craving. I've also tried their salty & spicy fried tofu (not as good as Golden Phoenix, but still a good fix if needed & you're in south OKC) and their spring rolls (standard, but tasty). I highly recommend giving this place a try if you're hoping to eat a quick bite or would like some food that is 'slightly above average' Asian takeout. :) 3/5 since the quality of food can vary (the menu is HUGE), yet the portion sizes are always ginormous (always a plus when needing food for a long, busy day at work). :) read more

I have been to Bistro B several times since they opened now and I plan on coming back this week with a group of American friends to introduce them to the extensive menu of Vietnamese cuisine Bistro B has to offer! As you can tell, I'm a huge fan. I have been ever since I discovered Bistro B in Dallas over ten years ago! OKC has had a Bistro B in the Asian District before but it was not the true Bistro B standard or quality and the business failed. I have a very good feeling about this franchise and I know this time it will be here to stay. Let me start by saying that the several times I have been here, service has been excellent! After talking to a waitress about the business she revealed they were trained on customer service by the original Bistro B and they planned on delivering the same quality of service. The chefs were also trained to deliver the same mouth watering dishes and selections as Bistro B has a giant menu to choose from! I am trying to try something new every time I come. I do have to add that while some items are quite yummy like the banh xeo, and noodles, some are not all that. As with any restaurant, Bistro B has dishes that they specialize in and you'll have to figure that out for yourself and Yelp about it! I, myself can not order and eat every single item on the menu. My favorite? I don't have one just yet, but I know it's out there and I'm the type that likes to order my favorite dish each time I come. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because since they are new, there are a lot of things that will need work and tweaking. There are some changes worth noting. For example, they don't have a wide selection of desserts and appetizers that is set out by the register as the Dallas location. Egg rolls are 4/$1 originally but they sell them 4/$1.50. (I was just at Bistro B in Dallas in 9/2016 for egg rolls). If the price has changed since, ignore my little tip there. They open until 9PM instead of like 1-2 AM like the original location. The pro: The food you get comes in a very generous portion for the price you pay. Great service! Lots of Vietnamese food to choose from and is a great place for a big family and group. Regardless of what I'm pointing out good and bad, I think they have a good potential and will attract many food lovers. Love it or hate it, you'll have to try it for yourself! read more

Incredibly broad and diverse menu of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, in an open modern space. We've gone several times over the past few months, and after initial hits and misses, the dishes have gotten really good. Service is friendly and fast. There are too many tasty dishes to single out, and we've just scratched the surface, from crispy cha gio (no. 16) or sizzling banh xeo (no. 23) for appetizers, to spicy and sour fish soup over flames (no. 501), to marinated grilled meats with rice or vermicelli, to generous bowls of flavorful noodle soups, such as classic pho to more adventurous (and spicy) regional fare like bun bo hue (no. 129). Favorite dish so far is a sizzling fish fillet on a hot plate with vermicelli and herbs (No. 114). There are two wildly different experiences you can have at Bistro B: ordering to go and dining in. If you order to go, you walk up to the counter and order your items. Simple dimple. I recommend getting a bánh mì and some egg rolls. I've never been disappointed with their bánh mì. The bread is crunchy and soft and they're not stingy with their ingredients. Then there's the egg rolls! Their egg rolls are delicious! They're not overly doughy or greasy and they're filled with a good amount of meat. You could walk in for lunch, get a bánh mì and four egg rolls, and pay less than $6. For a fast, tasty, and affordable lunch, you can't go wrong with Bistro B. However, you could easily go wrong if you dine in. You'll still be able to order bánh mì and egg rolls, but for whatever reason, the prices on egg rolls change when you sit down. When you walk up to the counter to order egg rolls, you'll pay $2.00 for four, but when you pick up the menu and order them, the price increases to $3.25 for four. What's up with that?! When I asked about why the egg rolls cost more, the server kind of shrugged and said that's the dine-in price. After the egg roll confusion, started to try to figure what to get. There are so many options to choose from and most of them aren't described very well. Don't order based on the pictures in the menu. I went with the Dry Chicken Rice Noodle. The picture made it look like it was well-seasoned and seared meat, but the picture was a lie. It didn't taste seasoned at all and tasted like Walmart rotisserie chicken. It came with a tiny bowl of broth, but that didn't help it too much. I guess that's why they called it dry. Looking back, I should've ordered something that I knew would taste good, like pho. Also, I wish I had brought a Vietnamese friend with me. That way I'd be able to navigate the menu without constantly pointing and asking, "and what's in this one?" Eating at Bistro B made me feel like less of an Asian. Granted, this place is a different kind of Asian, but still. I've figured out that dining in at Bistro B isn't for me, but that doesn't mean that I'm done with them. Their bánh mì and egg rolls are still the best I've had in Oklahoma City. read more

When trying to review this restaurant I couldn't decide how many stars to give it. Simply because this place is quite new, perhaps still in the training phase. This is reflected in the service: it takes a while for food to come out and our waitress was not very attentive to us. The menu is quite big. They have pretty much everything from pho to rice to vermicelli, you name it. I didn't know what to order or what is good on the menu. They need to do something about it. About the food, I tried 7 things from them. Out of the 7, only 2 were good, not exceptional: the salt and pepper spare ribs and the salad with vinegar beef or something like that. These were to go order as well. I like their dessert though and the options available for it. I guess it could be good after some more time and knowing what is good here and what is not.... I came back back the second time with a larger group of people in their reserved room and had one of their family dinner options. The service was much better this time around but the food has its hits and misses. 3 of their entrees were so bad I didn't even eat them: the fried chicken wings, the fried flatfish, and the hot and sour soup (lau canh chua). My daughter ate here on a whim when she was meeting a friend at Cafe Bella, but their kitchen had already closed and she and her friend were starving. My daughter was particularly hungry because she had finally recovered from food poisoning she'd gotten at her workplace. She thought pho would ease her back into eating. Pho is such a healing soup. And she was super impressed with her pho. Coming off food poisoning, she couldn't eat much, so she ended up taking a lot home (2 to go containers worth!). So today, she was craving pho and I offered to take her there. She ordered a different pho from her first one and loved it (but needed a to go container, this time she was able to eat more, so only needed 1 container). Me, I ordered #80, the Queen Rice dish. I loved the omelet rolled across the top, it was delicious, moist and flavorful. It helped keep the rice underneath hot. I was only able to eat half of it, and the left overs filled the to go container. It was delicious - packed full of peas, carrots, onions, chicken, beef, pork, some weird beef stick type sausage, and shrimp. Everything was nicely put together and seasoned. The waiter was prompt, attentive, and helpful. We're low maintenance diners, not dreadfully fussy or demanding, so we didn't need a lot of assistance. I liked that the pho spoons and plates were already on the table, along with chopsticks. I liked that they assumed we were comfortable with chopsticks (we are). I liked that there was a napkin dispenser, and they still brought us napkins. I liked that the waiter brought us water while we waited for our beverages to be prepared since it was hot outside. That was a very thoughtful touch. The food came out hot and quick. I was almost surprised by the speed, but then I realized we'd ordered "fast" foods - pho takes a really long time to make the broth, but once it's made, the rest of it goes very quickly, and a stir fried rice, if all the ingredients are prepped and ready to go, is fast. So on second thought, it wasn't really amazing how fast it was, but it was delightful to be served that quickly. We don't get to the south side often, but when we plan to visit multiple places down there (The Chef Store, Game Headquarters, the health food store whose name I can never remember because they keep changing it...), we'll make time to eat at Bistro B, as there are several dishes I'd like to try. Bistro B in OKC, OK made some mmmmmmm mmmmm good food for my boys and I last week. Late post. At least I took the pictures . The food is scrumptious and very reasonably priced. The clam dish was SO good! I was very happy eating this dish at the Bistro and continued my happiness at home with my to go box. The chicken was moist and slightly crunchy outside. I just loved all of it. Fresh veggies and nicely steamed rice with my dishes. So good!!! My son order a rice combo plate. It had grilled pork, eggs quiche, shredded pork, shrimp patty wrapped in tofu skin, fresh veggies and pickled veggies. I also ordered 2 sandwiches for the hubby. But that came out later. I will ask him what he thought about it and revise this post later. So the menu is so long which worried me about freshness. But as I thought this one of the kitchen staff walked in with fresh bags of ingredients they had just purchased from Saigon Taipei, an asian super market, right next door. Typically I never try any place with less than 4 stars on yelp, but this had a very extensive Vietnamese menu and good looking pictures of VN food in the online menu. The 3 stars just given, should be a 2, except for their 'extensive' menu, makes me pull for them to improve. So I went to seek out their best Vietnamese dishes, thinking maybe their dozen 'Chinese' items, or 3, count them, 3 Korean dishes drug them down a bit, as far as quality. I didn't find any of those VN dishes worthy of the brochure photos, at this time. But I'll go back for the really exotic VN dishes, and see if they actually might take some care or pride with those. Then there's always the chance they might profile me and leave out all the 'stinky' stuff, that makes those dishes authentic, rarely served here - and delicious. Afraid to offend my Mer-can nose, or squeamishness. I hate to suspect them of this, but there was that one thing with the appetizer. This type of watering down was a constant nuisance with VN restaurants in Houston 15 years ago. "Ohh, the Mi Trang guy may puke if we put the chunks of savory duck blood pudding in the duck soup." Which is like leaving the onions out of onion soup, or the bullion, something like that, but better than making someone puke. It's closer than you think. But hopefully I'm living in the past. There was THAT one thing they did this time that might make me expect this behavior, though. I'm getting there. But after all, Dim Sum places all got over trying to wrestle the stewed chicken feet out of non Asian hands at least 20 years ago. There was this one time when it came down to an actual tug of war with this young dim sum waiter, in Seattle. The floor manager had to pry his hands off the steamer basket of chicken feet so I could have it. Back to my order, and that one thing. So I ordered my favorite appetizer, the rice paper spring roll with a dark savory sausage bar, tiny bit of rice noodles, and crunchy bits like cucumber slivers and/or tightly rolled fried rice paper stick. It didn't look right when I got it, the sausage in it was light colored not dark red. Sure enough, it was the fried fatty peppered pork Jaa sausage, fried baloney basically, not the firm longhanisa style dark sweet/savory pork sausage as advertised. They fry the peppered pork fat Jaa, in large thick patties, you can see in the stores. They also make a peppered fish 'balogna' the same way, and they're difficult to tell apart. Those can be good snack foods when cut into thick slices and eaten with a spicy cucumber sauce, but not to be made into rice paper wrap appetizers. Back to the appetizer, so it was as if ordering chorizo, and getting fried baloney. Not bad, bad, but not at all what you wanted. This is where I thought, they may have thought, that I wouldn't know the difference. That's the thing. Sorry, I know the difference between Jaa Heo and Nem Noung. Next time, if they're out of Nem Noung, I hope they ask me to order something else. I'll make sure. The service would be good, if it weren't for the complicity in the switcheroo. I confronted the one waitress about it and she still tried to bluff me. I also had the Bahn Xao; the VN saffron rice flour crepe filled with bean sprouts, pork bits, shrimp, green onions, and pan fried to a golden crisp and served piping hot - or so I thought. Nah - limp, soggy, cool, with vey few crisp areas on the crepe. I scooped out the filling and the few crisp bits of crepe, and wrapped those with the lettuce leaves, and few kinds of weak herbs offered. Then poured over the spicy fish sauce (Nouc Mam) that turned out to be mostly water, and a very little bit of chilli paste, no discernible lime juice, not much sugar, and damn little salty pungent fermented fish sauce. It should be about a 5 to 1 water to fish sauce. This was like 40 to 1. There was no Thai basil in the plate of herbs. Only some very weak tasting mint, and the other herb that's supposed to be a bit bitter. Just a weak showing all around. Better luck next time. Maybe I'll try the VN hot pots, cooked in small clay pots, or the 'stinky' cat fish soup. They'd better cook those right, and not try any Mi Trang subs or deletions. Oh, hell, I may just go try the highly rated places first. Even their VN coffee was terrible, tasting like they used an instant mix. The other waitress, my main one, made a face when I ordered the coffee hot not iced. I can't fault her for that, she gave me a hint. She knew you need fresh coffee and condensed milk to pull off the hot drink, not this powdered coffee mix crap. I really liked this place. The food was good. The pho was huge. The taste was ok, not the best but it was still good. The Korean short rib rice plate was really good! The drinks were good too. The congee was good. The annoying thing was our waitress. I don't want to go into detail because I don't want to be mean in my comments. Let's just say, she made my rating go to a 4 instead of 5. The menu is very large, so if you are dining with picky eaters, its' hard to find something you wouldn't like on the menu. They have a variety of food from Vietnamese to Chinese. They also have a breakfast menu which I found interesting. The service is okay.. I've been here twice and both times services were meh. The first time I went with my family and they brought out my dad's food, but didn't bring out my mom or my food until 30 minutes after. Apparently the order never got rang in and they brought us out egg rolls to makeup for the wait, which was nice, but didn't make up for the fact they didn't even notice we never got our food until we told them. I ordered the bo luc lac, which was pretty good. The beef was tender and the rice complemented the beef well. It also came with a side of vegetables, but they weren't flavored so it was bland. I'll probably still continuing going here to try their other menu items, but don't expect much. read more
