It's been a while since I've been back to Pho B&B. A friend of mine loves this pho restaurant. The restaurant hasn't really changed much over the years. What is truly impeccable about the restaurant would be the service, absolutely outstanding. The young male server was exceptional. Well spoken, well mannered, and actually greeted and talked to all of his customers. I was truly impressed. The pho at Pho B&B was reminiscent of the pho in Tulsa in terms of the taste. The broth was on the sweeter side, but sugary sweet. If it was in Tulsa, it would have gotten a 4 stars. I think this type of broth style is more suitable for S. OKC but may not fair well in N. OKC. The other great thing about Pho B&B is how roomy the place is. There are lots of spaces between each table and the place is spacious, never overcrowded. Good for meet and greet type of conversation. Busy pho restaurants on north side may not be suitable due to the high noise level. read more

Absolutely terrible service. I ordered a smoothie at the very beginning of my meal, then I ordered my food. My food came out, no drink. As I was eating my meal, I reminded my server about my drink. I completely finished my meal, watched 3 other people get their smoothies, 2 other groups be served at the front counter where they make the smoothies, and then watched the staff chitchat behind the counter. Only after I finished my ENTIRE meal, did the staff come over to tell me they didn't have the items to make my drink. Horrible service. We walked in and we didn't get greeted or anything. We sat down at 6:50pm and didn't even get a menu until 7:10, 20 minutes for a menu is insane. I would also like to mention that a lady walked in before us, got a menu instantly, was served immediately and we were still waiting to even get our food. When the waiter finally did come to our table she threw the menu at us and she also threw our silverware and was extremely rude. We ended up walking out at the almost 40 minute mark because we felt like 30 minutes was even enough to get an order out. I went to eat pho on 04/28/23 for lunch with my boyfriend and while we were eating our food, a MOUSE was running in the middle section of the restaurant which we happen to sit by there. I immediately raised my legs and put them on a chair. One of the waiter's (young man) came after the mouse with a broom and dustpan and got it and proceed to tell us "We got Jerry" (reference to Tom & Jerry) and laughed and walked away. Take in mind I was freaking out, 36 weeks pregnant but I had no words to say, I was just in shock that this all happened while I was eating. I did not finish my food at all and just told my boyfriend we need to leave asap. The manager or owner whatever he is and his waiter still charged us for the food and they never once apologized for what had just happened. I will never eat here again. I've been going to this place every few months for the past 3 years and it has never disappointed. I've been to a few other pho places, and this one is consistently best in my opinion. For $8, you get one of the larger bowls you'll see in the city and you're pretty much guaranteed to leave stuffed, something that is important to me when rating restaurants. I usually get the P3 which is the round steak and meatballs. What are those meatballs made of? I don't know and dare not question it as they are delicious in the broth. Never been one for tripe or tendon but all those options along with seafood are available. They also have many other dishes such as rice, vermicelli noodle bowls, soups, etc. I've tried one of their rice dishes and it was nothing special; just plain rice with some pretty well marinated meat. Nothing a generous squirt of sriracha and hoisin can't fix. As far as appetizers go, I've tried their cheese rolls (crab rangoon) which is like 6 of them for around $3.50, shrimp spring rolls (nothing too special), and their pot stickers (again, nothing too special). I have my favorite Vietnamese dishes, yes, and (even though this place is known for its ph) I go for the Bánh xèo. (Never had Bánh xèo? Imagine a beautifully goldend (turmeric-infused) rice batter that's fried into crispy little crêpes and then wrapped around hot bean sprouts, chopped green onions, roast pork, pork fat, shrimp, and (sometimes) other savory fillings. The dish is traditionally served with lettuce leaves (for wrapping up the Bánh xèo burrito-style), fresh basil, fresh cilantro, and (sliced) fresh jalapeños. BEST VIETNAMESE DISH IN THE WORLD. (Well at least in THIS bald guy's humble opinion.) The Bánh xèo served here? Generous portions -- to say the least. Perfect consistency. Perfect flavor. Just, well . . . PERFECT ALL AROUND. Friendly, prompt service. There's a lot of hilariously tacky kitsch in here insofar as the, uh, "décor" goes, yes. But, that said, I'm here for insanely good meals -- not a crash course in interior freakin' design. I won't lie to you -- I absolutely detest the very idea of having to drive this far south to have a perfect (and very traditionally Vietnamese) lunch or dinner of Bánh xèo, but I'll do it again and again when it's made so perfectly and served with such consistent smiles. The restrooms here are kept clean, and the parking here is ample. I really want to try the Bún bò Hu (spicy beef soup) next time I return to B & B, but (at least for my palate) that's a dish best served in chilly weather. Vietnamese grocery store just around the corner, too. (That is ALWAYS a nice little perk for me and mine when we're in this part of town, as most of the Vietnamese markets and restaurants in the Oklahoma City metroplex are up in NW OKC in the Asian District/"Little Saigon" area on and around Classen Boulevard. When we're in south OKC, rare as that might be, it's always nice to have the options we like to see.) Another perk? There's a pretty decent little Thai place that's just steps away from B & B. I've never had Pho before but I've heard good things. Zach G. wanted to take me out to lunch so I let him pick the place. We get seated and look at the menu for a little bit. Zach essentially tells me what to get, and I get it. The service was okay. They did what was expected. I wouldn't call it horrible or exemplary. I think we had to ask for refills once. The food came in and I looked at Zach for what to do. He started adding Sriracha, so I added Sriracha. He added Hoisin Sauce, I added Hoisin Sauce. Zach didn't add fish sauce, I did. I had never smelled fish sauce before, so I was unprepared for what was about to hit my nose. I don't know how to describe it other than...potent. I mixed it all together and then started slurping up the noodles. It tasted...fine. I'm sure many of the pho purists will be upset when I say that it tasted kind of like homemade ramen noodles. Portion size is great. I'm a big guy, and I struggled with my bowl once I hit the 1/3 mark, but the Indian in me refused to let food go wasted. We then got our check, and departed from Pho B&B. One week later, I found out that I ate the Pho completely wrong. I copied Zach because that's how he likes his pho. I didn't try the broth before adding anything. I had the P5 (Brisket pho) and it had a great tasting broth. The brisket was lean just like I like it. I felt like they added too many noodles and but it was still good. I have to say this pho hit the spot. I went with two of my girlfriends and they agreed that this was a great spot to eat. The service was good and the price was perfect. The small pho was about $7 and I couldn't even eat it all. I would come here again just for the egg rolls. I specifically love vietnamese style egg rolls and they did a good job here. SO DELICIOUS!!
