We absolutely love the Golden Phoenix, and it has become a part of our regular rotation. We truly enjoy the dim sum, served every day until 3 PM, but also love to order entrées and have been delighted by everything we've tried. One of my favorites is the dumpling soup, and don't skip out on the jasmine tea either. A great restaurant with attentive servers and typically full of Chinese families, located right in the heart of the Asian district. read more

I have not been here for 4 months and I used to come to this restaurant monthly. The food quality went down, the beef rice noodle roll came with regular soy sauce instead of special soy sauce which made it difficult to eat. The steamed pork ribs have rice noodles rolls under it which used to be full of meat but anymore. The shumai is bigger but less shrimps with more corn starch, not very good anymore. Very sad about the change. read more

We ordered takeout for a special family occasion and it was a good experience. Food: Their menu is very extensive and descriptive. Love how it reads in English, Chinese, and Vietnamese. It's packed nicely if you order takeout and still tasted great at home. The Peking Duck was my favorite menu item. And their Walnut Shrimp was a hit for my other family members. The prices are fair and serving size is good for the price. White rice is included with the entrees. Service: I ordered by calling ahead right when they opened at 10:30 am. Our 12 item order was ready in about 30 minutes and the host was even kind enough to give us extra rice, chop sticks, and chili oil. They even offered to help take it to my car. Really kind people here. Ambiance: The inside of the restaurant is pretty standard with most traditional Chinese restaurants, but it was a little more modern than most, especially with their seafood tanks. The parking is limited at the front entrance and did not offer any takeout parking spots. But there is plenty of parking closer to the grocery store side of the building. In summary, my family enjoyed the large lunch we ordered for takeout and look forward to trying more of their menu items in the future. read more

Golden Phoenix is a staple and versatile restaurant in the Asian District. On the other side of the Chinatown supermarket, this Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant has just about everything you could want and need! They've got the roast meats, a large Chinese dinner menu, an equally large Vietnamese dinner menu, catering for events, and my favorite: their dimsum menu. For their regular menu, my family and I will frequently order to go and occasionally dine in. We often order off the Chinese menu when we're going family style (flat noodles, salt & pepper squid, egg noodle lo mein, and scallion chicken are some of our favorites), and we will order from the Viet menu for individual portions (we love their egg noodle soups, pho, broken rice platters). One of my favorite dishes is their lotus root summer salad, and I've not found another place that beats that dish here! I've found their service with regular dining in to be hit or miss. Most of the time we get great service but a few times here and there we have a hard time finding our server. Moving on to my favorite part of Golden Phoenix- the dimsum. They serve dimsum primarily on the weekends from opening to 3pm (I think), and they have really brought up the OKC dimsum game with their large and delicious dimsum menu! Their dumplings like the hargow and shiumai are large, filling, and delicious! I particularly love the fried shrimp and chives dumpling and their shrimp egg rolls. The service during dimsum is fantastic because they've got people pushing around carts and carrying plates of food out to you. Once you're ready for dessert, make sure you grab some egg tarts for the table! read more

Locally owned Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant specializing in authentic fresh Asian dishes. Servers pushing carts of delicious freshly made dim sums, this service is a hallmark of traditional dim sum restaurants (we saw this in San Francisco Chinatown, what a treat for OKC to have this traditional restaurant)! Dim Sum service is everyday 10:30-3:00, prices so reasonable $3.98-$5.98. My favorite is Shrimp Har Gow, delicate steamed dumpling filled with generous portion of fresh sweet shrimp. Another favorite- Pork Shumai, delicate handmade stuffed full of pork! If dim sum is not for you, they have a huge menu of fresh ingredient dishes. Friendly service, fresh food, reasonable prices! My go to Asian restaurant for a wonderful lunch! read more

I wouldn't suggest this place if you weren't Asian. I was sat and then no one ever came back. Although other Asian groups or individuals came and they were sat and orders taken immediately. Wow, I was surprised by the extensive menu covering classic Chinese, both homey comfort foods like congee to classic bbq rice to clay pot and family dinner gathering dishes including soups, to a range of Viet dishes similarly, from broken rice to hot pot and more. With the two of us, it took us some time to sort out our limited order (note to self...bring more people to share more dishes!). We opted for the Chef's Special Pepper Beef that was tender and glazed over a bed of iceberg lettuce. And the seafood tofu clay pot with fish, shrimp and squid. Both dishes were flavorful. Looking for more wok hei tofu pot but we enjoyed the meal. Since it's my first time in OKC, I was pleasantly surprised with the number of Asian families dining on a Wed evening! So that was a great measure of the place. Entrance was bright plus it was comfortable and relaxing in the dining rooms. Parking was easy. Service was attentive but we had to find someone to get the check at the end, as they didn't bother us talking the evening away, unlike the more common eat and go. I'll be back. Enjoy! read more

One of my favorite spots for weekend dim sum or an easy lunch or dinner. They offer a great mix of Chinese, Vietnamese, and fusion dishes. My friends and I always order family-style so we can try a little bit of everything. The restaurant is spacious, making it great for large groups, and you can also book in advance for private gatherings or events. They don't offer delivery yet as far as I know, but takeout and pickup are available. And thankfully, they're not cash-only, so you can use your card/apple play! read more

A true staple in Oklahoma City's Asian District! What began as a humble spot has grown into a spacious, inviting restaurant. Their beef flat noodles are unmatched in the area, and the menu offers everything from authentic Vietnamese specialties to familiar favorites like fried rice and orange chicken. As the saying goes, "Out of the ashes rises the phoenix" and nothing could be truer than dining at Golden Phoenix. Located along the busy corridor of North Classen Boulevard in the heart of Oklahoma City, Golden Phoenix blends traditional Cantonese dim sum with modern Vietnamese entrées. It's a perfect reflection of the city's evolving cultural landscape with two rich culinary traditions coming together in one continuously vibrant neighborhood. Many markets and restaurants in the area are now predominantly Asian-centric, Golden Phoenix fits in well with this local aesthetic. What brought our party of eleven to Golden Phoenix was its reputation as a longtime favorite among several of our guests, many of them locals who have been loyal patrons for years. They're fans of the restaurant's traditional dim sum, served daily from push carts laden with steaming baskets and small plates, inviting diners to pick and choose their favorites right at their table. The table we sat at was a square table not a round one, and it felt a little jarring with so many people crammed into a smaller space. It was crowded on the weekend afternoon when we visited Golden Phoenix but thankfully the dim sum options kept coming and we ordered a number of scintillating options from the lunch and dinner menu. With Vietnamese and Cantonese options, the menu at Golden Phoenix is separated into categories including Cold Plates and Appetizers; Chef Recommendations; Chef Special Soups; Golden Phoenix's Specials; BBQ & Marinated Specials; Seafood; Chicken; Beef; Pork; Vegetables; Soup; Clay Pot; Fried Rice; Dry Noodles; Rice Noodles; Egg Foo Yang; Congee; Vietnamese sections including Appetizers; Broken Rice Platters; Rare Beef Salads; Pork/ Fish/ Chicken; Clear Noodle Chicken Soup; Noodle Beef Soup; Soup Noodle & Dry Noodle; Self Prepare and Roll by Yourself; Side Order for Hot Pot; Rice Vermicelli Noodle; and of course dim sum items. It's been a while since I've seen a menu this expansive. We enjoyed traditional dim sum small plates such as Har Gow, Sui Mai, Beef Sui Mai, Flat Rice Noodles filled with Beef and Shrimp; Shrimp Rice Balls; Deep Fried Calamari; Baked BBQ Pork Buns; and Baked Egg Custard Tarts. Since our party was so large we also ordered additional entrées for our party to split between each other including two servings of Beef Flat Noodles or Beef Chow Fun as it is traditionally known as; one serving of Seafood Pan Fried Noodles; Grilled Korean Beef Short Ribs served with their Oven Rice Platter; Vietnamese Combination Pan Fried Flat Noodles w/ Shrimp, Squid & Beef; and two servings of their Chinese Broccoli With Oyster Sauce. Beyond the dim sum, the true stars of our meal were the Grilled Korean Beef Short Ribs and the Vietnamese Combination Pan-Fried Flat Noodles, both showcasing elevated Vietnamese flavors executed perfectly. Service, however, was a bit sluggish at times, particularly with refilling our water glasses and teapot, which is served and charged by the cup. Our total bill was $205.12, which for the amount of food we feasted on this afternoon visit was a real bargain. The phoenix is a mythical bird that regenerates from its own ashes now stands as a powerful symbol of resilience and hope, a reminder that something new and extraordinary can emerge from even the most difficult circumstances. At Golden Phoenix, it's the food that has risen to become the true star, serving a community that deeply values tradition and togetherness. read more

Very impressed with this place. So much so, that I went 2 days in a row but for different meals, their dinner and their dimsum. The dinner was amazing. Highly recommend the S&P squid and pork chops, the raw beef salad, the Peking duck, coconut shrimp, frog legs, and more lol, I just can't remember everything else we ordered. Dimsum was great too. The spare ribs, tripe, chicken feet, shredded pork floss buns, flat noodles, and more were delicious. Mad that I forgot to take pictures, but that's how you know it was really good that I couldn't stop stuffing my face haha. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. read more

Really enjoyed the food here. We did the a variety of things through dim sum & ordered Peking duck. Everything was really good. Lunch at Golden Phoenix with a friend. Golden Phoenix is one of my favorite restrauants in the Asian district. The restrauant is always buy, but I've never had to wait to be seated. Parking is sometimes a challenge. The venue was remodeled a few years ago with a modern twist to Asian decor. It's a lively scene. We orordered off the menu, that can be an exhausting experience. The menu is ginormous, and can be daunting for the inexperienced Asian diner. They also have service carts that come around with a variety of items that can be ordered a la carte, or you can mix menu items with a la carte items. Menu items are served family style. We orordered two menu items, Salt and pepper calamari and Walnut Shrimp. Both were excellent. The calamari comes with jalapeño peppers and I added red peppers. If you don't like spicy heat don't add the red peppers. The dish is mild without the red peppers. I was surprisrd how much I liked shrimp. I will be ordering it again. The prices are moderate, the service very good, the noise was surprisingly low for a busy restrauant. read more

We loved the Dim Sum Cart Service. They accommodated us despite being busy on Father's Day. Within 5 minutes, we got a table. It was spacious and family-friendly. The food was decent. Honestly, the pork soup dumpling and the shrimp dumpling were my least favorites. I was a little disappointed. The eggplant / shrimp combo was interesting. We enjoyed the coconut dessert cake, the sesame balls with sweet beans in it. The beef with flat noodles plate was excellent. We were definitely full and staff were hardworking. read more

I went in and asked my server, Phuc, if he could bring me some sauce. He told me it was in the kitchen and that he couldn't get it. I was confused because I get it all the time and I'm a regular customer, so I asked if he could please check. He then told me to ask someone else because he wasn't going to get it. Thinking I may have misunderstood him, I asked, "You want me to ask somebody else?" He replied, "Yes, I'm not getting it." At that point, I was preparing to leave because of the poor service. Fortunately, a lady pushing the pastry cart noticed something was wrong and asked if everything was okay. After I explained the situation, she quickly brought me the sauce I had requested. I was disappointed by the way my request was handled, especially since it was a simple item and something I have received many times before. The lady who helped me was professional and courteous, and I appreciate her assistance. read more

Short story: I am from the Bay Area. As a child, my dad will always bring me to a viet restaurant that served sweet and sour catfish soup. Ever since then, I could never find an establishment that sold viet sweet and sour catfish soup. Trust me, the only place I didn't look was Vietnam. Of course nobody in my family would or could cook it because we are Taiwanese. THEREFORE, I WAS SO FREAKING EXCITED that this place even had it on the menu!!! I had very low expectations. But when I took a bite...oh my gosh, it was everything I remembered as a kid. THANK YOU, Golden Phoenix. Another short story: I have no friends, no family, and I have never felt so alone in my life in Oklahoma. The only people that reached out to me were from OKC. However, I was always deadly afraid of an almost 3 hour drive. Friends I gathered from OKC highly recommended Golden Phoenix. But, I don't appreciate the crazy increase in price. I understand there are signs and of inflation, but a $4 increase... that's nuts. A small soup of sweet and sour catfish was $15.95 and now it's $19.95. However, I do appreciate that they included a side of a huge portion of rice as their sides usually average $2.50 (no idea if the price jump includes sides because their to go and online menus have yet to be updated). Ambiance: Asians! Definitely HUGE and a good place with large tanks to have a feast and conversations with family. Though, be aware, there are massive amounts of Hispanics working here. I have no idea what their actual Chinese food tastes like. Parking: There's a rather large side parking lot. It's attached to a Chinese supermarket. There's parking in front of the restaurant but there's no direction. It's obvious cars are parked as one direction but people enter and exit the other direction anyways. Additionally, people parallel park behind this parking making it extra tight. If this paragraph doesn't prepare you for the confusion, I don't know what will :) read more

First time at golden phoenix and I enjoyed the dim sum! It's an experience that I recommend everyone try. We received a tally sheet and the servers would mark the sheet after dropping off a dish. We tried many dishes but the custard biscuits were my favorite next to the custard tarts. I also wish I would've tried the spring rolls! They looked delish. We had about 8-10 dishes and we each paid about $23 a person. So it's definitely not an inexpensive experience but worth a try! Lots of people here on a Saturday afternoon, very lively but not too noisy where sound traveled and you couldn't hear people. read more

I was born in San Francisco's Chinatown. My parents were raised in China and Hong Kong. Golden Phoenix offers some of the VERY BEST Chinese food anywhere! I was not expecting very good Chinese food when visiting Oklahoma. I guess I was thinking biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, etc. Golden Phoenix gets an A+++ in food, service, and ambience! From the little things (tea and rice) to the big things (fried and braised entrees), this is 100% authentic delicious Chinese food.
