Good pho place, it is a chain FYI if you are not from OKC. Order a Pho with everything and a mango smoothie. Everything was on point, just it is pretty pricey for pho. The smoothie was $7.25 when I was there and it's not a particularly large size. But a decent amount of toppings included with the pho. Pho Lien Hoa served the best Pho I've had in Oklahoma so far. The experience wasn't perfect but the food genuinely made up for it. !!! Cash Only !!! Firstly, as stated in the previous line, this establishment is cash only. We didn't know that going in so it caused quite the hiccup when trying to pay. The employees were very nice and patient about it but it was still kind of embarrassing. There's an ATM available inside as well. Now onto the dining experience. PLH was very busy when we arrived. That did not stop them from seating us right away at a clean and stocked table. However, the ordering process did feel slightly rushed because of the volume of customers. They had a beautiful interior though with low music playing. The tables are all stocked with soy sauce, sriracha, hoisin, salt, pepper, and fish sauce. We had to request chili oil, which they happily obliged. The chili oil alone was a 10/10. Spicy, crunchy, well balanced. We started off with spring rolls (if you don't specify which ones they will automatically bring out the shrimp and pork ones) which came with a nice garlicky peanut sauce. The shrimp tasted fresh and the pork added a nice slight saltiness and texture. The noodles were cooked well and the veg was fresh and tightly wrapped even when dipped & bit. We both ordered the Pho Chin (lean brisket) one large and one small. Both portions were consistent with their descriptions. With the large I got more meat, broth AND noodles. I ended up taking half of mine home while my spouse finished theirs and felt comfortable. The broth was clear and delicious. I was worried that the broth would be sweet since that's been a common theme in OK, but that was not the case. Deliciously savory and balanced with spices. My only note would be that I would've liked two separate plates of side veg (jalapeños, lime, basil, bean sprouts) since we both enjoy these additions to our soups. Overall a good experience for the food alone. For the fact that we weren't told it was cash only from the start, we had to pay for water bottles instead of being offered cups, and the wait time for the check; this was not a GREAT experience. This was a super solid bowl of Pho! It's honestly one of the best I've ever had, and that's not an understatement. The broth was incredibly well-balanced, and it stays piping hot from the first bite until the end of your meal. They truly know how to make a great bowl of soup here. I was surprised to learn of the high-quality Vietnamese food in Oklahoma City. Naturally, I opted for a pho dinner on a cold night during my visit. The seating here is ample, and they have parking out front. I opted for the beef with., rare, beef, and fatty beef. I also opted for the small size. And I got a coconut smoothie. The pho comes in piping hot with an aroma that I simply can't describe. Soup is rich and textured with a flavor that only comes from slow cooking. The beef is delicious and melts in your mouth. The accompaniments of vegetables an extra to help to build the base soup in a way that complements the original flavoring. Absolutely wonderful! The coconut smoothie was great, but in hindsight, I should've just opted for water because the pho itself is so indulgent the flavor needs to be savored rather than competed with. read more

This is my favorite place for bbh in OKC! They also serve really good pho, bun thi nuong and other dishes are consistently really good. I come here way too often, both in person and via delivery. Even when I get delivery my food still taste so fresh and delicious! The only downside is they're cash-only, and I never have cash on me, so plan ahead. On a recent trip we ran across this place and because I love pho and hadn't had it for a while and was tremendously hungry, we stopped in. Pho Tai was good.. could use a bit more depth in the broth but the warmth as you slurp it cannot be beat. The shrimp rolls were just "meh" and the peanut sauce just had no flavor. Abstract: filled with non-Asians so lower your expectations Pho: our large pho bo vien had two meatballs cut up into 8 pieces. Our large pho tai had 5 slices of raw beef. The broth was basic with no depth so you know they don't have any real beef bones in that broth. Bun Bo hue: had the right toppings but it just tasted like pho broth with fish sauce it in. Again no depth and no authentic bun Bo hue taste. Bun mam: did not have squid as listed. It did not have any eggplant which is standard in bun mam. The catfish steak was fresh and tender though. The broth had too much msg and not enough mam taste. Service: the servers are attentive and accommodating. Ambiance: loud and obnoxious which makes you think it should be amazing but unfortunately it was a huge let down. They charged tip for our party of 7 which is fine since we're from California and used to the tip gauging but it was not displayed anywhere in the restaurants or on the menu. Payment is cash only but they have an atm for you to use. That way they make money from the atm machine and they can evade taxes. read more

Pho Lien Hoa is still an excellent choice for Vietnamese pho noodle soup. It was my favorite Vietnamese restaurant to grab some pho for many years, but it's been overtaken by VII Asian Bistro by the time of this review. This is not to say that it's not good because it's still my go-to place for pho on days VII Asian Bistro closes (Sunday and annual 2 weeks family vacation). The difference maker ultimately boils down to the broth. While the broth at Pho Lien Hoa is umamic, it's on the lighter side; less savory, rich, and "meaty."What it lacks, it makes up for in abundance. Pho Lien Hoa got the pho noodles texture down, soft but "springy." They have the best meats, raw beef steaks and cooked meats. A side of the rare beef is worth the money. And their vegetables plate for the pho has more than at any other restaurants, guaranteed. The service is lightning quick, and I am using this word loosely at Pho Lien Hoa. They often forget your hot tea order and extra limes when asked. I also love their china set, very aesthetically pleasing. P.S. This is a cash only restaurant. Excellent Vietnamese restaurant with authentic and delicious Vietnamese dishes like pho, vermicelli, broken rice, Bahn mi at reasonable prices - my only gripe is that they still require cash (even though their other locations like PHL 2 and 3 have gotten with the times and take card). Well, that's maybe part of the charm of this place. Service is very attentive and prompt, so maybe they make up for the cash requirement in that way. The exterior is sort of interesting and puzzling in that it's all black and prevents you from looking inside with those inside being able to look out like a one-way mirror. Inside is also quite spacious with many tables and cool wall paintings as well as other decorations (including a compartmentalized cow). An OKC local favorite! Just modernize already!!! read more

Stay far away!!!! This place is CASH only hence why the ATM is right there by the cash register. They probably own the ATM and charge you a fee. Not only you have to pay cash but also get hit with an ATM fee just to pay. No sign anywhere that this is the establishment's only form of payment. Food was bland, serving portion minimally and over priced for what you get. They basically force you to buy a bottle of water if you want water not even a glass of water like most restaurants. I'm not the biggest pho fan, but I am a fan of other Vietnamese soups. So I was happy to go here specifically because they have a fairly expansive menu. I got "S1," with duck and blood cubes. The duck was served on the side rather than in the soup, but it was very flavorful, atop perfectly seasoned pickled cabbage with a great dipping sauce. The soup accompanying it was fine but nothing special--fairly standard broth (not duck-y) and thin noodles, blood cubes were good but not spectacular. I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. It was empty when we got there a little after 6 but it got pretty busy. I ordered pho with steak and brisket and it was really good! Meat was very tender and the soup was delicious. I also tried the avocado smoothie which was delicious. They do only accept cash and there is an ATM with a $2.35 fee. Let's talk about "bánh canh" soup & Fresh bánh canh noodles. It's my absolute favorite soup & they make a good one right here with UDON. I posted several photos of the bánh canh here over the years some inside photos & one fab one of the neon sign, I don't know what happened to them as they have just disappeared :( Anyhoo, if you don't know what "bánh canh" is you're missing out on the best viet soup on the planet. I know everyone loves Pho, but moi thinks bánh canh is better than Pho. bánh canh is a pork & seafood soup with a fresh made noodle kinda like the Japanese UDON. Most people just substitute UDON noodles for bánh canh but I like to make them homemade. They are usually referred to as the " viet tapioca noodle" as they are made with rice flour & tapioca starch. Anyhoo, there are many different variations, "banh canh tôm" is a shrimp flavored broth that is also mixed with coconut milk, it's my absolute favorite. I like to make it spicy. There is also "banh canh giò heo tôm thịt" pork knuckle & shrimp, "banh canh cua" is a rich, thick crab soup, "banh canh bột lọc" is a more translucent & chewy version of the bánh canh noodle & Southern viet "banh canh chả cá" made with fish cake my least favorite version. I also love "banh canh trảng bàng" Traditional bánh canh made in the southeastern Vietnamese town of Trảng Bàng, it's served with boiled pork & local herbs, as I love my all my soups herbaceous. Anyhoo, take a leap of faith, take a walk on the wild side, live a little & try something new next time you go to get Pho, like bánh canh. Highly Recommend. read more

It was just shrimp, pork, and noodle wrapped in rice paper. The sauce was ok. The bun bo hue was also lacking in the flavor area. Other than the initial chili taste, there was nothing. One of the older Pho joints in OKC. Funny story about this place over 32 years ago as a teenager I asked a friend about a good noodle shop and they told me about this place. I'm half Japanese and white so I came here to try it out, never having pho before. It was not what I was thinking way to tangy for me at the time and hated it. Years later i started to like Pho trying it here and there again. I even married a Vietnamese girl for over 10 years and been to Vietnam also with her. Now I'm with a Korean girl. Anyway to the food. The service when dead is great like this visit but when busy it's take some time to get feed. I got the beef ball Pho and a side of thin steak. Everything is great and fresh like it should be. The food was decent but I don't like that they charge 2.25 for meatballs with pho but then cut the meatball into 1/6 portions so you really only get like 2 or 3. It was our first time here and the guy who served the food acted like we should have memorized the menu he just kept repeating the number to see who it was p11,p19. The folks here are very nice and attentive , welcomed me in and gut my drink quickly. There not any "ambiance" to speak of, sort of boring and stark. I think they let their food impress you! I'm not the biggest fan of this particular type food, but I got the dry noodles/egg noodles and once the vermicelli and they were both really good with the paste-type extra sweet soy sauce combined with the normal soy sauce. My usual complaints of this place, it's still too hot in the summer, they really should see about fixing that. And they like to dictate where you sit, even when they're not busy.
