Our wood floors were last refinished 18 years ago, when we first moved into our 1958 house. While…read moremany areas had only minor wear, the area under the dining table had suffered a lot of damage, with bare wood exposed in several places. We were looking for someone to do a general buff and finish on all the hardwood, but also with a specific focus on fixing the dining area. Of the five businesses I contacted, four said they would not do a partial sand/stain, but would only redo all of the flooring, sanding and restaining everything, which would have been far more than we were planning on spending for this project. Wilmer of Better Surfaces and Services was the only one willing to work with us on what we wanted. He was very upfront about the potential issue with a visual difference between the restained dining area and the existing stained flooring, but also discussed how he would do his best to mix the new stain so that it matched as close as possible, and work on the transition area to minimize any difference. I hope the pictures show what an amazing job Wilmer and his team did. The pictures were taken at different times of day, but they are all of the dining area, which needed the most work. In fact, one of my relatives was thoroughly confused upon seeing the final result: she knew we had planned on just refinishing, but upon seeing the floor, thought they must have instead replaced the dining area with all new hardwood! In addition to the great work, Wilmer was very good about addressing all of our concerns and keeping us up to date on the work, as we had to be out of town during all of it. His employees were very conscientious about locking up our house when they were done each day (my friend let them in every morning). He came to finish our new cabinets and it was a disaster. None of the holes were filled , seems we're not caulked, there were paint drips all over, parts of the cabinets were not painted , there was paint on our floor and ceiling, he painted our base boards, new ac vent cover, the ship lap wall next to our cabinets and half painted the wall in between the cabinets where the refrigerator goes. He did not properly seal off the kitchen as he said he would causing the adjacent living room and dining room to be covered in half an inch of dust including my grandkids toys and our Christmas tree /ornaments. The day that he first did the cabinets he left without cleaning up after himself, apparently our cabinet guy stopped him out in front of our house and told him that he could not leave a clients home that way. As my husband and I were standing there looking around trying to figure out how to clean up the mess , he came running in our back door furious saying "all you need to do is wipe it up with a wet cloth!" At the time we did not know why he came running back in so angry for. He was looking around saying" where is a towel!" and started walking towards the bathroom like he was going to get a towel from there. I stopped him and got him a rag, he then got down and was wiping furiously a small patch and said" see, that is all you have to do!" Then threw the rag in the kitchen sink and left. When our cabinet guy asked if he had cleaned up to our satisfaction, Arik told him that he did. When our cabinet guy called Arik to let him know that there was a problem with the cabinets, Arik fought with him, it took a fight to get him back to fix our cabinets. He came back three weeks later and painted the cabinets the wrong color!! He again fought with the cabinet guy saying that he didn't do anything wrong . The cabinets were the right color (white) the first time and the second time they were cream(yellowish) Took six weeks and a huge fight to get him back to paint with correct color. I will say that the cabinets finally turned out nicely. I wish that I would haven taken pictures the first time of all of the floors being covered in a mess of dust and debri. The picture of the floor is the last spot we had to clean when I thought of taking a picture. This was a terrible experience is all I can say
