Some background- I do A LOT of antiquing, some for resale, but primarily for personal collection. When I come across jewelry, I usually come here and sell it or just verify and decide depending on its value whether to sell. For the last almost year, I usually dealt with Johnny or another gentleman. They were both very nice and always tested my jewelry without ruining it (inconspicuous places like the bottom of the ring bank etc). Yesterday, a girl I had seen once before took my jewelry and tested it. One item tested gold but low karat and another as bronze. That was all fine except when I looked at the rings she had rubbed and tested the front of the ring. Both rings now have dents/scratches and the designs are ruined (one is a signet, so the shape isn't rounded anymore since she rubbed a corner of the front). The second ring was tested in multiple areas along the band and on the front of the ring, it just looks terrible. Resale value and personal value is affected and I am devastated. I didn't say anything on the spot because I honestly have never encountered this issue. I'm really happy I didn't bring a bag of rings I was unsure about. Who knows if she would've used the prongs or some other part of the ring for testing. Whoever is training the newer employees really needs to teach her to test expensive items with more care. If you care about your items or are on the fence about selling, please for the love of god go to a jeweler. I didn't think I had to ask for them not to ruin my jewelry, but here we are.

I've visited this Long Jewelers location on 2 occasions - once to have my watch battery replaced;…read morethe second time to have a necklace fixed. The watch I brought in has become sort of an heirloom. It belonged to my maternal uncle, and since he has no children, I was given the watch when he passed away in 2020. Long took a look at it and was able to replace the battery on the spot. I waited maybe 5 minutes, so that transaction was quick and easy. I dealt with 2 employees that day, and both of them were kind, courteous, helpful and 100% professional. That was enough for me to bring in my necklace later on for repair. My necklace was a birthday gift from my mom years ago, but the latch broke, so I wasn't able to wear it without it falling off. The latch broke about a year ago, so I obviously wasn't in a rush to get it fixed. But as I mentioned earlier, Long took care of my watch, so I figured they could fix this. In this situation, the latch was kind of a loss - it would cost more to repair it than replace it. They were able to find an exact duplicate latch for the necklace, and after asking my permission to replace it, they had the necklace ready for me in roughly 2 business days. They called me to let me know it was ready. When I came in, they had me inspect the necklace to confirm I was satisfied, and I paid for that service afterwards. I dealt with a different employee for this transaction, but she was also kind, courteous and professional. I felt like everyone I've encountered at this Long Jewelers location was excellent. Problem is, about 6 months ago, I came looking to buy a firearm & I was next in line & and the guy in front of me had a rifle in his hand and was clearly intoxicated. I kept my mouth shut & then asked the staff about a particular gun, & the very intoxicated guy was saying how he could do this or that before I ever had a chance to get the gun out & I'm just like, yeah whatever dude. And I'm not sure if he's the owner or manager but he was sitting behind the counter as this was going on, & I just felt like maybe he just didn't want to say anything to the guy & I just personally feel alcohol and firearms don't mix. It sucks that Google only allows you to make 1 review, because again I may rate a restaurant highly 1 day, but my next visit could suck. Well I ended up walking out purely because of this customer. I left a negative review, purely because of this customer. The staff had never been anything but friendly to me, & that day was no different, but again, I had a negative experience because of that customer & just don't feel it's safe to have an intoxicated customer dealing with firearms. And I made that very clear in my post. Well a few days ago I go in there, and everything is fine, the staff was polite but then the manager walked by and said "what's up man" And I said hi. And he said "what's your name?" And I told him. And like a little child he said "you're the motherfucker that left 1 star talking about intoxicated customers & that you had a better experience that day at Superior Pawn. Why don't you carry your ass to Superior" I tried to explain myself, as I didn't think he was actually kicking me out but just upset about a review, and he walked over and said "get the fuck out of my store" Now I should have walked out but I was literally trying to explain things and he said you know what, "here let me help you get out" And he put his hands on me, and shoved me to towards the door" And I said what are you doing, you are literally going to assault me, I know where you work, and before I could finish my sentence that I know where you work & could have the police up here " he said oh you know where I live. I will fucking kill you." I turned around & just went to leave and he ran at me and went to hit me from behind and the whole staff was screaming at him and grabbed him. A nice guy walked me to the door, and apologized for what happened. I'm going to let the situation go, but it's just absolutely insane and bad, bad, bad business. To put your hands on a customer because of a negative review when I literally even mentioned it had nothing to do with the staff but a customer, and to act that way. Absolutely insane to me. Never experienced anything like it in my life. I think the staff is very friendly, at least the ones I've interacted with and I thought the same about this guy as well until this happened. I just think it's crazy unprofessional, obviously illegal, and if they don't delete the camera footage, it would entirely back up what I'm saying, but I'm letting the situation go, and just moving on but to say it bothered me, would be an understatement.
