Came here for special event. Unfortunately just thought it was mediocre…read more In terms of service provided by the waitress, it wasn't bad. The menu was explained, and she gave us her preferences. However the real gripe about service was regarding that we brought our kid and the only item on the menu was buttered noodles. That is okay, but after a few bites, even my kid who doesn't know many words informed us it was too oily and stopped eating. We wanted to buy something nearby and bring it back so he could have food, as he wouldn't eat the other items that we ordered. However, after multiple attempts, we were denied outside food or drink, solely for the kid. The restaurant's inflexibility because of their own dish being too oily and buttery, resulting in our kid being mostly hungry for the duration of our dinner . In terms of the dishes we ordered, the taste was unique for some dishes and average for others. We ordered cabbage, beef tartare, seafood pasta, and halibut. Of those dishes, surprisingly, the cabbage was the most flavorful and unique, and we rated it an easy 5 out of 5, as we never knew cabbage could taste so unique and tender. The beef tartare was good, but nothing special, as I think other restaurants serving beef tartare would taste about the same. The seafood pasta was interesting, as it had a slight crisp to it, but other than that, there were just a few pieces of octopus, which made it unique but not overly so. The halibut was tender, I'll give it that, and they prepared it in a unique bean sauce, which was also good and light. But again, nothing that beats halibut that I've had at other restaurants. The ambiance was dimly lit, packed. Plenty of servers and managers walking around. People were obviously well dressed. We sat in a corner, a dark and very cold area, so much so that we needed to put on something heavier. It is not a small dining area. The kitchen you can see on the way to the restroom was bright, well-lit, and open, with plenty of workers and chefs. The plating was pretty good, the service was quick. The food came out pretty quickly as well. However, it is a 1 to 2-hour dining experience. I don't think I would come back, as I don't think the flavor profile, service, and ambiance matched my expectation of this commonly noted number one restaurant in Detroit.

We were nicely greeted and sat at the bar. We checked out…read morethe cocktail menu and knew that this was the right voice for dinner. We ordered the Last Sunrise in Tuscany and the 59 Barrera and Son. Both were absolutely delicious. We watched the bartender make the Last Sunrise in Tuscany and we had to ask about it. They make this with a house made syrup which isn't too far fetched for this restaurant. They try to make everything from scratch and it really shows in their offering. We were so hungry we had to order a couple things to share. But before we ordered we asked the bartenders (absolutely amazing) about what to order. Now when I say they gave the most elaborate explanation I could almost taste these dishes she was explaining them so well. She knows food and she knows good food. So we went with her recommendations based on what we were going for. We ordered the Duck, the Ravioli and the Rigatoni. When I'm telling you everything was perfect, it was PEFECT! The cook on everything, the favors that danced in my mouth. The filling of it all. I cannot wait to come back to try the rest of this menu. As dinner was winding down, I asked Kennedy to choose my last cocktail. She presented me with the most delightful white sangria and I was wowed by the flavor and lightness of it all. We then ordered a few lattes to go and we were talking about that dinner and restaurant for the rest of the week. Shea and Kennedy were absolutely amazing!

The bacon scone was absolutely outstanding, however you have to ask for butter for this, which is a must, but that was the only thing for a $325 brunch bill for 4 people. The entrees were cold when we received them, and one took so long to get that it was actually comped by the restaurant. The steak and egg benny was okay. The egg was overcooked and only jammy and not runny, and the croissant which had the steak on it was super oily and gross. There is a reason why a biscuit or english muffin is used in this dish, so whoever decided a croissant was a good idea is not smart, or eating the current weekend chef's food. The potato frites super greasy and oily as well as cold. Draining them on a paper towel would have been clutch. We had other entrees that no one finished because of the quality and taste of the food. It would have been helpful if the kitchen staff put the food under a salamander or heat light. If they have one of these, it certainly wasn't working that day in proper order. This is not a place I would ever go to brunch again. Maybe I would try dinner have one of their cheaper dinners as the $34 benny was overpriced and underperforming. I am giving this place three stars rather than one because the service was great unlike the food.

We had 2 couples and they customized the menu for us based on our likes and dislikes. We got 5 courses starting with appetizers, followed by pasta (which I forgot to get photos of), then sides, entrees and dessert. Plus a little aperitif to start the meal off. Zero complaints about any of the dishes. My favorite dish was probably the artichokes and the steak. So delicious! The atmosphere at the restaurant was very fun and modern. And our server was very knowledgeable and helpful when we had questions about the dishes. If you want an even more elevated experience, they have a sommelier that will come to your table and assist with picking wine to pair with your meal.

The meal continually went downhill from the first appetizers to the end. Started to go downhill when we had to pastas as a third course. They both tasted the same and were extremely salty. This was followed up by the smallest saddest toughest steak that I've ever seen in my life. Was extremely disappointed at this point in the menu. The dessert tasted worse than disappointment. We saw everyone by us getting pistachio ice cream other dessert that looked great. We got peach tomato ice cream, with a dry dusty cake that tasted like powder. Great service from the waitress though. Very knowledgeable and attentive so we still gave her a good tip. I think that the chef's tasting menu is just an angle to overcharge you for mediocre homemade Italian food. It's under the guys of they ask you questions to cater to you and the taste of the people at your table. The questions are so general and ambiguous. It doesn't really hone in on what your actual taste are. Haven't left a restaurant feeling like I've been robbed and wasted my money in a while. The main course made White Castle looks like a Michelin 2 Starr restaurant. Won't go back and would not recommend. To cap off the evening we took that weird raw steak thing that they gave us is our main course home in a doggy bag for our dogs. Our dogs usually go nuts about any meat whether it's lunchmeat, grilled ribs, or even the fat trimmed from the edge of the steak. This meat was so weird and bad that two of our dogs took it from her hand, went around the corner and poked at it and sniffed at it before trying to eat it. One of the two dogs spit it out and the other one left it. I've had steaks and beef at hundreds of restaurants over the years and can always identify what it is by how the piece of meat looks and how it is prepared. This was like mystery meat, very, very, very disappointed and feel robbed.

Even on a Monday night at 8:00pm, they were busy, which I think says a lot. The menu is small but intentional. Their staples are staples for a reason, and the servers are so personable that talking with them almost feels like running into an old friend. We each ordered a drink, the Brussels (always, we don't care what we get for a main), and shared the burger and campanelle. You're probably never going to be blown away by a burger, but you know a good burger from a bad one. This was a GOOD burger. The campanelle though... we could not stop talking about it. Genuinely addicting and easily the standout of the night. So happy this place exists in Detroit. We'll keep coming back.

We arrived on this misty evening around 8pm, into the dim, candlelit space with upbeat music playing. We were asked promptly if we had a reservation-- did not, so we were promptly seated at the counter, across from the bar-- which was actually less crowded than the section on the floor with tables. Onto the food, I had fries that were nicely salted, and covered in a curry spice. They were decent but nothing spectacular. I would also describe my burger this way. The best part of it was the perfectly toasted and buttery bun-- but I find it overconfident to serve a burger without any toppings-- just a sauce that was apparently blended with pickles that I couldn't really taste. The burger was seasoned well enough...plenty of pepper, but it was all one texture, I didn't pick up any searing or anything to make the texture less one note. I asked my server for extra sauce, mustard, and ketchup to make it better. My friend recommended this spot specifically for the burger so I'm willing to say, I just ordered the wrong thing maybe. Onto the desert, the corn tiramisu caught my eye as something unique to try and it was truly an experience. It made me laugh out loud cause it was strange unexpected food experience in both flavor and presentation, I enjoyed it, but wouldn't order it again persay. It came out in a little whipped pile covered in cornflakes with green jalapeño jelly. I appreciated the richness and that it wasn't too sweet-- but overall I'd enjoy it more if it was presented more neatly, and there was a bit more spice on the plate to cut through said richness, although to their the deep sweet and earthy flavored of jalapeños was captured perfectly in the gel.

We sat outside and the weather was great for it. We ordered the guacamole with totopos, enchiladas, arroz, papas bravas, aguachile verde, and pescado. Everything was seasoned well, especially the aguachile. The shrimp was cooked with the citrus very well and we liked the heat to it. The duck enchiladas have great flavor and the sauce cuts through the fattiness very well. The arroz was nice and soft and complimented the enchiladas well. My dates said the papas were cooked and mixed well. Finally, the star of the courses was the pescado. It was grilled to perfection and the salad goes well with it along with the lime. Now, the tortillas were next level and so so soft. Putting everything on the tortillas made it so much better because of the texture from them. The salsa they put on each side of the pescado each had their own notes, but I think roja was the table favorite. What I loved most is that everything was carefully seasoned and I didn't need to salt anything or need extra salsa. Since we did get to wait a bit for the table, we got to watch the kitchen while standing next to the ofrenda. The chefs all were working as a team and you could tell there was a lot of care put into the dishes they put out. Dessert was probably one of the prettiest tres leches I've ever seen. The coconut came through but didn't overpower anything. The ratio of the milk to cake was great and also there was a hint of something else I couldn't put my finger on. I hope the next time we're in Detroit that we can come back.

The restaurant was getting full by 6pm, so having a reservation is probably best. We finally got a chance to eat here and decided on the Tasting Menu ($95/pp, the whole table has to have it) because a lot of the dishes were items we were already looking at. We started off with some drinks, all the drinks were well balanced and not too sweet-perfect. For Tequila: Good Behavior & (Mezcal): Better Off Red were super delicious. Note for the tasting menu (for the 2 of us), they plated 1 dish per course so just note that you do not each get a separate plate so I'm assuming the portions are double (although I wonder what they do for a single person and the whole trout...). I guess it's nice to share a plate so my hubby could enjoy more food but seems like a lot of plates and silverware getting used/changed with each course so it makes me wonder why each person doesn't just get their own portion. Anyway, first course: I don't really like scallops, but these scallops was cool, refreshing with a very mild scallop flavor so I really enjoyed it! Second: tomato tart with goat cheese +heirloom tomatoes salad (very good), Third: Ricotta Gnocchi (YUM), a lot of pancetta pieces, Fourth: Whole trout (the chef removed 95% of the bones, yay, loved that. It was pretty mild taste which was overall good, I liked all the different mushrooms that came with it & Last: Banana Split- feels healthy with the banana there and wow, the cherries look like Luxardo ones. Honestly, this was a good amount of food (I wasn't overly stuffed thankfully but full). I would definitely recommend the Tasting Menu (note, no modifications/subs allowed) and was glad we ordered it. The pacing was not hurried (we were not in a rush), but they can definitely accommodate (bring 2 courses out at a time), if you need to be somewhere by a certain time for a show or game. They also have a free parking lot (fenced in)! We will most definitely be back, it was an amazing night at Bar Pigalle!

The food hits the spot, and the service adds to the overall experience. I appreciate being able to enjoy a good meal in an atmosphere that feels inviting and makes you want to sit back, relax, and enjoy your time there. One thing I've noticed is that they've made some improvements, and I have to give credit where it's due! They used to frequently seat me at those bar-style window seats, which weren't my preference. I personally don't like having all that foot traffic moving behind me while I'm trying to enjoy my food. I prefer a seating arrangement where I can relax without feeling like everyone is passing right behind me. Thankfully, it seems like things have improved in that department, and I appreciate seeing those changes! Overall, IMA Noodles continues to be a good option for a meal in the Wayne State area. Between the food, service, ambiance, and noticeable improvements, it's nice to see a restaurant paying attention to the overall dining experience.
