First time to a Mr. Burger! Have always seen them around and decided to have family dinner here. Friendly service, everyone liked the food, and I appreciate the nostalgia of the decor and menu signs. Fast casual before it was a concept. Check out the menu (they also serve breakfast!), grab a tray, order your food, grab a pie or dessert, order your drinks, pay, grab a table or booth, wait for your order to be called over the speaker, bring your food back to the table, and enjoy! When finished, leave everything at the table and they take care of it. Family really liked their hamburger and mushrooms and Swiss burger. Can come with lettuce, tomato, and/or chopped onion. Make it a meal with a side and a drink. I enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich and it was cooked great, tender, and flavorful with mayo and ketchup. I would have normally ordered it with lettuce and tomato but have been avoiding fresh veg everywhere. I would definitely order this again. The onion rings were great and the fries were refract to eat with our burgers and sandwiches. You can grab a ketchup bottle from the counter and have to ask for mustard. They carry Pepsi products, orange Crush and Dr. Pepper as fountain soda. They also have iced tea and use pellet sized ice. Pies - I was excited to see another review about the pies and had such a hard time decided between them all. Decided on the cherry pie and strawberry pie. The cherry pie was fine. Food is pretty good I went in for two chilidogs and the buns were stale I asked the people behind the counter if they had any that were not rock hard they said no. After some talking the boss finally came out and gave me a refund. If they had no deliveries that day they should not have been selling old food. The worst part may have been that no one acted like this was unusual!. read more

Oh, Mr. Burger. So much nostalgia walking in here with my daughter. I remember growing up in town and coming here with my grandparents. Don't come here expecting fancy, expect diner food that hasn't changed. You can order anything from the menu all day long, so breakfast for dinner is a favorite! The kids menu is simple and has a variety for kids. The portions of the kids items are perfect with 2 pieces of chicken and some fries. The staff seemed to be a bunch of young high school aged kids and they were all friendly and helpful. They were constantly cleaning the dining room which was great to see. The food took about 10-15min, which was reasonable because they were pretty busy. The fries were crispy and I enjoyed my chili dogs for what they are. I'd add cheese next time though because the girl taking my order wasn't sure what was included on it and I said to just make them how they normally do. read more

We eat out a fair amount but often get take out and find that Mr. Burger makes an excellent Olive Burger that we order with cheese and double meat. It's a burger where you can actually taste the beef and the buns they use are soft and yummy. They have nice soup choices too, like the Clam Chowder and Vegetable Beef. read more

Just realized I have never rated this place and I been here 10 times. They still have that Mr. Fables or Red Lion style of ordering. You order you food at one end, pass a bunch of desserts and cold sides on your way to get your drinks and pay. The you go to your seat and they will call your number. Then you go get it and head back to your seat. My wife always get the double olive burger and fries. ALWAYS. I've gotten this as well, but lately have been getting the hot turkey sandwich and potatoes. I have really enjoyed this meal. I have had the chili cheese fries as well. Very good. Price isn't bad and they usually have the tables cleared and wiped down. Needless to say, we will be back many times. read more

I started this review around 5am and felt compelled to write this review. It's kinda long but all good. There are few places in this world that gives me the feeling of yesteryear as a 70's child. This place hits it and gets it! We ordered the Special Burger Combo and moved on down the line. Since we had never been there, we grabbed a tray. The next thing I saw was a dessert case of specially made pies (it was picture worthy). So many pies and desserts to choose from. There may have even been a couple of salads in the. I indulged in the biggest chocolate pie EVER! Place it on my tray, we paid and, kindly was given instructions. Have a seat and your number will be called. Oh and make sure you grab a ketchup bottle. :) A number was given to us and we found a seat. All of the tables were clean and seats had no bits of crumbs from the last person. I had to wash my hands before eating and I was dreading a smelly dirty bathroom. Nope! Not this one. Smelled like a bathroom should and you could tell it as well maintained. It did take some time for our order to be called and I may have ate all of my pie before my food was ready (by the way... THE PIE WAS AMMMMAAAZZZIIINNNNG!). When order 91 was called, I was expecting the usual, and get the "It doesn't look like the picture feeling". The cook neatly wrapped the the burger and the fries were all in it's paper container (there was no skimpping or fries falling out on to the tray). It felt like pride was put in to the presentation. I always start with the fries before the burger. It's a bit weird, I know. Lol It appears like they don't put salt on the fries and this is a good thing. Everyone has a different salt preference. I chose not to put salt on and no.. I don't have high blood pressure. Lol These fries are really good with ketchup (of course). :) Now I've eaten a lot of burgers over the years but never a Mr. Burger. I can't tell you how great this burger is but I'm gonna try. I opened up the neatly wrapped wrapper and honestly thought the goods were going to be all over the place. Litterally the most perfect burger I ever unwrapped. Kinda like a neat present without the bow. Now I'm expecting that up until this point, the shoe is going to drop (it has to, I get it) and this is how it's going down. I take my first bite.. Good Lord! This 2 patty burger with their "Special Sauce" hit it out of the dog park! At this point, I'm thinking that this is impossible! If this was Pulp Fiction, I would say "This is A Tasty Burger" per Samuel L. Jackson". Lol All jokes aside, from start to finish, this dining experience was bar none the best I've had in some time. Kudo's to Mr. Burger for getting it right and keeping it right all these years. I don't know how long they,ve been open but absolutely no disappointment here. Now I've worked in many restaurants in my younger years (I have name badges to prove it) and I've eaten at many restaurants that are not clean with employees that I can hear hating their job or chitchatting with each other about their personal life. I also have always have expectation of what I would like to see in a restaurant or an employee and leaving an establishment disappointed by something (cleanliness, staff and/or bad food). Sometimes it's the price that establishments that makes it impossible for some to pay for. I truely think I found the hidden gem right here that I litterally can't wait to come back to, so worth the hour and ten minute drive (but that's not what brought me to town). I would tell someone to take that McDonald money and take it to Mr. Burger. The food alone will be worth it. Here is the bottom line... The menu is easy to read, friendly establishment, and th most professional staff ever! Clean inside out and excellent food with extremely affordable prices. The night before, I ate out and spent $50 (no dessert), and walked away disappointed. Here I spent under $30 and I even was able to get dessert that was so good! A family of 4 could have eaten what I paid the night before at Mr. Burger. At the end of the day, it was truely the staff that made this dining experience a great pleasure to be a part of and I highly recommend it! I would give it more stars if I could. Thank you to the staff, keep up the great work, and know that on this night of September 23rd, 2023 was truely a blessing. I was raised on Mr Burger chili dogs and grilled cheese. So, writing a review based off of one visit is a little odd for me! However, this location is not our "home" Mr Burger.. We stopped in on a Saturday at 1030 for breakfast. No line to order, however, they did let us know they were running about 20 min behind for breakfast. The kitchen staff seemed frazzled and rushed- the restaurant was decently busy..but again, no line to order. Our food didn't take 20 minutes- morel like 10-12- so that was a nice surprise! Mr Burger's food always seems very consistent. Never surprised or disappoint, i feel like we know exactly what we are getting.. every time. I did order the omelette- which was advertised as a new breakfast item. It was pretty good, very cheesy! Pleasant surprise and different than their typical breakfast. it came with a side of home fries and I ordered bacon on the side. The two people i was with got a Super Breakfast and a Super #3- both typical and as expected. With Mr Burger.. they have consistently good food. It is hard to explain something you grew up with! lol Very simple but great food.. very "greasy spoon" type deal where they cook everything on a griddle or fry it. It's been a family staple and we will continue to frequent because... it's just good fast food that feels like home. read more

I have to say that this place is better than one would expect upon a casual glance at the exterior or interior. Unlike many here, I am a transplant to G.R. and did not grow up eating at Mr. Burger. Since moving to G.R., I've eaten here by myself a number of times, and then recently with my family. For those who aren't familiar with it, Mr. Burger is essentially a cafeteria-style restaurant. The food offerings are solid, if not spectacular. The burgers themselves contain a thin patty of meat on a soft, sesame seed bun. The sauces are arguably better than the actual burgers and tend to make the burgers what they are. For example, the olive burger would just be a typical little burger, but the olive sauce is insanely good. I found myself wanting to sneak into the kitchen and steal a bucket (or whatever container they keep it in) to take home. Just like Frank's hot sauce, I would put that sh*t on everything! Not to be outdone, the "Mr. Burger" burger features two skinny patties (together equaling 1/3 lb), cheese, lettuce and 'special sauce'. I would say this sauce is like the special sauce on a Big Mac - only better. The fries are decent, the prices fair and the service about what you would expect. A solid choice if you are in the area and in the mood for a decent burger. An extra 1/4 star for the logo, which is a burger wearing a bow-tie. Wow for the price and the service I like this place. We still are not comfortable to eat inside since Covid. We go through the drive thru and order and have great service. We can see it is clean and organized in the back kitchen ( you can see in the window at drive thru). Cleaner than any restaurant I have seen. The food was hot and enjoying. There is a Mr. Burger close to where I grew up and also close to my grandmas house, so I've pretty much been going to Mr. Burger since I learned how to chew. This place exemplifies "don't judge a book by its cover". Sure, the decor is reminiscent of a cafeteria at a retirement home, including creepy clown paintings they prolly pulled out of a dumpster, but that's part of the charm! Who cares what a place looks like if the food is awesome!?! I'd eat in a place that looks like a serial killers dark dingy lair if the food was off the chain! In my opinion Mr. Burger is the best cheap and greasy burgers around. There may be better burgers at fancy-shmancy sit down restaurants, but I'll take a Mr. Triple with cheese any day. The warm grease is like getting a hug from the inside. I just try to limit my Mr. Burger intake so my Mr. Triples don't lead to triple by-pass! read more

This is one store of a local chain that has been around for years. The do offer breakfast and although it is adequate, there is nothing remarkable here. Their burgers are what they are known for, and they are good. I like the deluxe version and they do it well here. I have tried their hot dogs and chili dogs and can't recommend them if you are seeking something special. The exterior is well maintained. The interior is in need of a remodel/redecorating. Definitely showing it's age. Plenty of parking outside and a drive thru if you are on the move. read more

Although I do love this place I just wanted to say I am disappointed that the past few times I have been here they have been giving less fries. 2 visits ago I literally had about 15 fries in my bag. I called and was told I could get a replacement within 2 weeks. When I went back in the cashier made me feel weird about the situation - as if I made it up to get free food. Yeah, so it's called "Mr Burger". We all know what we're in for when we eat at a place called "Mr Burger". It is just about one or two steps up from true fast food for pretty much the same price (you get ceramic plates!). The food is pretty decent, but again, it is called "Mr Burger". I think some of the charm is nostalgia for me. As some people have mentioned, it has a cafeteria/nursing home type feel. That seems a little harsh, but just a little. It reminds me of a lot of restaurants when I was younger. I actually did see "Mr Burger" himself (I sh$t you not!) eating at Mr Burger one day. I know because his picture was on the wall as part of a newspaper article, so I knew it was him. I'm assuming Mr Burger is fairly well off given his successful chain of restaurants. He was all dressed up with his wife and another older couple on a sunday morning. So, I ask you. If Mr Burger is good enough for Mr Burger, his special lady friend, and their friends....what's your problem? Surprisingly, the burgers are lacking in my opinion, considering the name of the place is "Mr Burger". The grilled cheese are perfect, it's one of the few places in Michigan you can find a breaded pork tenderloin which is good, and the chicken sandwiches are pretty decent. The grilled cheese are perfect. This place is good for a low-key, fast, inexpensive, bite to eat when you want diner food. You probably won't be seen by anybody, so sweat pants are fine. read more

It was amazing. We were riding motorcycles and have never been in the area. As I was passing by, I thought would be a good place as I wanted a burger. The ordering staff was excellent. The young gal who took the money was absolutely beautiful. She was very kind and understanding as we had some confusion. Normally in an establishment like this, you sit and they come and take your order. However, was a great place to eat, very relaxing and the food was excellent. I saw a tuna melt and that is what I ordered. YUMMY. My friend had a burger and it was gone in a heartbeat. I recommend fully!! read more

This place was outside the norm and the food was decent; I figure I will be back sometime. The general appearance (from outside or in) won't persuade you to swing in - but you never know until you try and I have had some of my best meals I'm less than stellar looking restaurants. It is a cafeteria feel set up with how you order, rack your dishes and utensils, etc. almost reminiscent of how the old Ponderosa's used to be. What I like is you can see them making the food on the line and it adds the perception of general freshness to the order. I had the Olive Burger which was satisfyingly good. I hadn't had one in a long time and they are not always easy to find. The burger its self was not unique or out of this world but they have a great sauce from my take. My kids had breakfast items and the pancakes had a bit of a unique twist on the batter. They weren't just those generic flop cakes you get at a Denny's or somewhere. The sausages the same - more unique than generic. My mom was visiting and had the Fish and said it was tasty. For the price (about $20for four of us) it was worth the stop. This isn't going to win awards - let's be clear. But, for honest food at a decent price. Good - quick service; this is an average place to frequent and I suspect you won't go terribly wrong. When I lived in Rockford, MI decades ago I used to hit up Mr Burger at least twice a week there on Plainfield/East Beltline. My cousin and I would order 3 olive burgers (extra olives) and 3 chili dogs each. We'd have freshly bought cokes in the car. We'd switch off, one olive burger then chili dog, and alternate till gone. I occasionally will get near a Mr Burger nowadays, just don't order as much...but, still fantastic Olive Burgers :) read more

As I'm making my way across Michigan, I'm in search for the BEST Olive Burger in the state. I would give the Olive Burger here a "meh" - it's not bad, but it's not great. The place is very Denny's meets joint/dive/diner, which is a little better than Denny's, but not by much. I do LOVE the cold glass cabinets that allow you to take your own piece of pie - that rocks. And, while I am not a fan of Mince Meat, I did spy a slice or two of this pie in the case - making this undoubtably one of the few places you can order this little retro treat. I think I'd come back for breakfast and give it another shot. read more

With a name like Mr. Burger, I thought I should stick to what they do best and get what they are well-known for, the Olive Burger. I found the patty flavorsome, the sesame seed bun was soft, and with a generous helping of olives mixed in with the mayo sauce, I scarfed my burger down quickly. The consistently of the olive-mayo sauce was a bit runny, proving to be difficult to eat but was otherwise tasty, with just a slight zing to it. Other reviewers have raved about the fries. Sadly, I can't share in the love; my unsalted fries were dry and overly crispy. I went through the drive- thru and found the service to be speedy. When I have more time, I'll dine in to get a feeling of what that experience is like. read more

I had a combo and as reviews said previously the sausage links were really good and so were the pancakes....nice - light and buttery. I would order the cakes and sausage asva combo next time. Love their super breakfast. Only problem is they can't seem to be able to cook it as ordered. I order toast dry & light. The last three times it has been fully toasted with a little black. I know it sounds picky, but it's the only special thing asked for. The other issue is the sausage patties - today's visit good, but last two time they have been over done on one side. Crusty on one side and not flipped once to other side. Come on guys pay attention, would you eat it this way? I never spend my time writing a review, I just stop going, but like I said love the food if it's done right. I have been a long-time patron of the 44th Street SE restaurant, for the olive burger combo. The hamburger itself is blah, but the olive sauce is great. The last two times in a row I got soggy fries. Today when I asked if the fries were crispy, I was told they are always the same. Yeah, right. So, he asked me if I wanted extra-crispy, I agreed (was at the drive thru). When I get home, I see they are the same stale fries, just dunked back in the oil for a minute. Awful! I think I have finally reached my limit with them. read more
