I have no experience with the tattooing side of this, but the piercer is TERRIBLE. I got my nose piercing changed to a hoop there. Without telling me beforehand, the girl tried to use a 14g hoop. She only stopped after I was bleeding and crying. She went down to a 16g, but less than a week after the ball that kept it screwed together came loose. I tried to give the piercer a second chance this weekend because I wanted another ear piercing. The same girl was the one who pierced me. The earring posts were way too short and were easily a 16 or 14g. I had to take them out after less than a week because my ears were throbbing because the post was too short to accommodate for swelling. Honestly, I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Don't go here if you're looking for a legitimate piercing shop. :( read more

My daughter has wanted pierced ears for over a year now. After researching needles v. piercing guns, it was an easy decision to go with the needle. The hard part was finding a shop and piercer who was legally allowed and comfortable with children. My husband found a Baltimore Sun article about Al and Mr.B's piercing a child's ears so we decided to make a day of it. When I called, Mr. Al was very thorough and answered all my questions before I even asked them. He even wanted to know if she had asked to get her ears pierced. I felt very confident after speaking with Al. After a trip to the zoo (about 20 min away, so if you're coming from far away like us it's a fun day!) we went to Mr. B's. Al has a really great way with children, she got to pick gold or silver studs and we went right back to the chair. Everything was very clean, 2 single use needles, gloves, chair, etc. Al gave my daughter her own gloves so she could "help." He had her hold corks and things he might need to help take her mind off things. I can't say how great he was with kids! The actual piercing was very quick and Al measured to ensure everything was even. We were all done with no tears and a very happy, beautiful girl with new accessories. Al gave her a cup and sea salt for after care and made sure if we ever have any issues to come back. He will even change her earrings if we want him to. The price was much better than other shops we called too. Then to celebrate, we got ice cream across the street. It's been 3 days now and my daughter has not had a single complaint about her ears hurting. We are all so happy we got her ears pierced here! Now I think I'm ready my first tattoo! read more

Just to follow up with my review-I had to go today because part of my bottom piercing also fell out so I had to get it replaced. Unfortunately the terrible piercer is the one who had to fix it. While doing his thing he answered a call on his blue tooth where he them proceeded to talk to the person about how terrible triple helixes are and they never look good-which he NEVER said any of this to me before he charged me $150 for the stupid piercing that I have had to back twice for and one of the three piercings is now gone. He's awful. He's the worst. And I'm starting to doubt he even knows what he's doing. I REPEAT-DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE. Donna was AMAZING piercing my toddler's ears. My little one kept moving her head and Donna was so very patient and made sure marks were even. After the 2nd piercing my little one was getting very agitated and kept refusing to let Donna get the earring in and Donna didn't let it phase her a bit, she stayed completely calm and sweet. Finally I had to help my little one keep her head still and Donna got that earring in so quickly and my toddler was instantly happy and smiling again like nothing ever happened. read more

I can't say enough good things. I came here after getting my tragus done at another shop. The piercer put a curved barbell in...completely wrong jewelry for a tragus. I got bumps and I was in pain, the thing never would have healed properly. I suffered for about a month then wandered into Mr. B's hoping for some help. I was seen by Donna who confirmed what I already knew, the other shop used the wrong jewelry and I needed a stud. She was quick to offer cleaning and changing the jewelry for me. It hurt like hell, but she was still so gentle and quick. She gave me a bag of sea salt to soak my ear in, charged me ten bucks, and I was on my way. My ear is better already. While on vacation from Oregon, I swung in on Friday to see about getting a tattoo I had been debating on getting for a few months now. The place was clean and the two guys I spoke with were friendly, and without an appointment, the artist got me up on the table and deftly applied my wife's name on my left chest. On top of that, he also added two small lines to a scar tat I have... It took an additional two seconds, but he didn't mind and didn't charge anything more. Seems silly, but other artists have turned that request from me down in the past... so getting it done like it really wasn't a big deal was awesome. I told some of my friends who are relativity local to the area (Bel Air), and they hadn't heard of it before... but they will check it out now! I highly recommend coming here for a tattoo! I can't speak to the body piercing aspect, but given what I saw of the tattoo side, I would get pierced here with confidence! read more

I was looking into a lot of places in and around Baltimore to get my first tattoo. I designed mine so I wanted to be sure I would get exactly what I had spent hours creating. Mr. B's was recommended by a friend who has gotten several tattoos with Ian so my boyfriend and I went to see the shop and price it. The staff was amazingly friendly and explained everything clearly, from pricing to procedure. They were also very calming and understanding about getting artwork done the first time. Ian was extremely patient and ended up re-sketching my design three times until it was perfect. He put on music per our request and made the whole experience very exciting and fun. He answered all my questions clearly and was overall a great experience to work with. The artists there are meticulously clean and all equipment was sterilized and single-use. My tattoo came out perfectly without much soreness or swelling at all. Ian was light-handed and I experienced minimal discomfort. I always come back to Mr. B's for any future artwork. So far I've been to Mr. B's 3 times and have gotten 5 piercings there. Every time was a great experience. The staff are kind, knowledgeable, and do a great job. BEWARE!!!!! Really expensive for work that looks mediocre at best. Have two tats from them and the most recent one (done a month ago) already looks patchy. Tried to get a touch up but the guy said he'd be "busy" for weeks. Touch up would take maybe ten minutes since the tat only took 20 the first time. Don't waste your time. So disappointed! I called earlier in the day to ask if someone could change out several piercings and a very young-sounding girl said, "That would be me." Asked for her name and gave her mine. Came in after work and she looked to be about 14. She said she was 18 and her dad owned the shop and she had been working there since 5th grade. She's a senior in high school. She couldn't remove a helix piercing that her uncle had put in and she couldn't add the captive bead to my rook piercing after trying for 15 minutes or more. I asked her if there was someone who could assist her, but she said that the only other people there were there were tattoo artists only and that I needed to come back tomorrow or Thursday. I gathered up my things and went down the block to Tattoos by Bee. They were awesome there (gave them 5 stars). Sadly, for Mr. B's, I won't be back for tattoos or piercings. read more

I decided to get my nose pierced on a whim today and I wanted to try somewhere close to where I live in downtown Baltimore. I walked into 2 different places nearby and at both, the piercer wasn't there and the prices were abnormally high. So I went ahead and drove a couple of extra miles for Mr. B's. Not only did Al do a fabulous job at making sure my piercing was exactly the way I wanted it and explaining the necessary after-care, but I was in and out super fast! I have gotten 3 piercings here on two separate occasions, one by Al and the other by someone else (I can't remember the name exactly), and have had two distinctly different but good experiences. The first time I went in was to get my nostril and tongue web pierced ($40 each, and probably not a good idea to do both in one day) and they took me in on walk in no problem. This piercer whose name I unfortunately do not remember was very good, if not overly friendly. Short and to the point was his style, but he did an excellent job with both. About a week later I had to go back because one of the balls for the tongue web piercing had fallen off and I couldn't get it back on. Al took me in and helped me free of charge, even though it was quite a complicated process as the area was still swollen and hard to reach. On whim, I decided to ask about "sensitive piercings", which are $80, and had my VCH pierced by Al during the same visit. I was a bit uncomfortable due to the location of the piercing, but he made me feel at ease and comfortable, and the piercing was over just like that! Overall a very good experience, I highly recommend Al for any kind of piercing! Good price, friendly staff, a clean and modern shop, and an amazing experience are all included in the $40 package. I hope to go back for more piercings and maybe my first tattoo quite soon :) read more

Went to get a rook, tragus, 2 cartilage, and conch piercings. I walked in one snowy Saturday morning and saw how clean and organized the shop was (there were a few people, but overall was not bustling). I was pierced by Donna, who's very nice and professional. She marked each location, making sure I was satisfied. She explained each step of the preparation (showing me sterile needles that haven't been taken out of the packages, explaining what soaps and solutions she was using, explaining why she was using certain piercings for certain areas) and made sure I was still comfortable while getting 5 piercings. I was there for about half an hour, but the actual piercing took around 10 minutes. She also explained the aftercare and stressed important parts (if you can't remember the aftercare steps, there are little cards with the directions). Each piercing is $40, which is fair, but you might get a discount like I did if you get a lot in one visit *wink wink*. It's been 4 months and the piercings still look great, some of them even feel fully healed. Will definitely come back for future piercings and tattoos! read more

I've had my ears pierced five times and all at different places. I decided to go to Mr. B's for my most recent two ear piercings. A young blond girl who looked to be just 18 did my double cartilage piercing. The piercing process itself was normal and what i was used to, but my piercings were infected just the day after i got them pierced. I continued to clean them and changed all other earrings in my ears to be sterling silver so that there was no reason for infection to occur. It has now been about a month since i got them pierced and they are both very sensitive. The upper piercing is forming a bump on the back and both are still infected. Given the fact that i have never had any complications with other piercings before and the fact that my friend also had trouble healing her piercings from Mr.B's, I am drawn to the conclusion that their piercings are unsterile or not truly sterling silver. I would not recommend Mr.B's for piercings unless you want to deal with issues. read more

I decided to try Mr. B's for my next tattoo because I wanted to go someplace local. This is right up the street. I walked in on a Sunday and Jay decided he would take me. Apparently they were rather booked, but he had a cancellation and squeezed me in, I just had to go back in about an hour. I was getting a small set of paw prints on my arm near my wrist. He quoted me $80-$120 depending on the size and I agreed. I showed up an hour later and admittedly had a rather long wait time. He finally showed me the prints, I agreed on a smaller size and we were set. I should have confirmed price before he actually started tattooing, but it slipped my mind. He finished my tattoo in 20 minutes and I was thrilled. Until I walked up to the counter and he charged me $150. I was so caught off guard, I just stood there for a second and couldn't even think straight. Rather than getting into a confrontation, I just paid it. Four months later this still bothers me. My tattoo was so small (and all black) that I expected it to be closer to the $80 I was quoted - instead I paid nearly double. The size I agreed on was even SMALLER than what he had originally drawn up for me. Live and learn - ALWAYS confirm price after design is agreed on and before tattooing starts. This was my fifth tattoo though and I'd never had the price nearly double after being quoted something, so I just thought he'd stick to his original price. I honestly am still undecided if I will return here for my next tattoo. My husband already said he will not as he felt I was ripped off. read more

Went here on a whim a few years ago for a tattoo. I have a lot of tattoos (10 or 11) and this is the only shop I've been to where my skin/tattoo has welted after the tattoo. I'm not sure if the artist I went to had a heavier hand than the other artists I've seen, but my tattoo was really small and I've never had that happen to me before. Josh was very nice and knowledgeable he fixed my dermal and pierced my philtrum (ouch!!!)He was very thorough on what to expect after and how to take care of it. Walked in right when it opened for a tragus piercing. I was pierced by Al, the older guy at the shop. He was very friendly and seemed very experienced. I've only had my piercing for a week, but his suggested aftercare has worked like a charm! It was pricier than I was expecting ($50), but the quality of the jewelry he used is excellent and I'm glad he chose a curved barbell over a ring. I would break out in rashes during my earliest flare ups, scratching and picking to the point of being left with brown scarring all over- I was crushed- each day I looked at myself depressed feeling took over me - I can't recall what prompted me to look for an artist but Mr B's was top on my list - I heard about them randomly and it stuck- so it was my luck to walk thru the doors and meet Jon - he's just cool to start- he listened to my story- he never made me feel ashamed- he kept my session private- I was pretty fragile at the time and he never just did any old thing- I didn't want just some Random tattoo- I wanted coverage- I wanted shape - I didn't want to lose my femininity- I didn't want a lot of color do to the hyper pigmentation and I wasn't sure If color would make the work look trashy so we decided to do a lot of grey - black shading - I've been working with Jon over 3 years now- as I said he's more like family and I'm beyond happy that I found him at Mr B's read more
