Lydia, my artist, did a fantastic job with my tattoo and recommend subtle shading to make it pop, which I didn't even think to ask about. 1.5.25 Hubby got me a gift certificate as a Christmas gift to get a Tinkerbell tattoo done. I had an appointment with Danielle a.k.a. Deezie today. Upon arrival, I was given consent to tattoo procedure to complete. I was also informed that there was complementary bottled water if I'd like any. The studio is not what I imagined that it would look like. It looked trendier and upscale especially the lobby. Deezie asked for a photo of what I wanted and took a few minutes to do the stencil. When she was ready, she called me back. The tattoo took about 20 minutes to do. I have a low threshold for pain. The outline didn't hurt, but when she colored in Tinkerbell, that hurt, but she was sweet and kept checking to see how I was feeling. She is very personable and chitchatted with my husband and I, which helped to distract me. When we were done, she thoroughly went over the post care. She said if I had any questions that I could feel free to contact her. The studio is a member of Association of Professional Piercers (APP) which means they follow safety and sanitization requirements. They have displays of different types of earrings in the lobby. Well, initially I was happy with my tattoo and even went back and got 2 more from Kaitlin. But over time, as my skin fully healed, I noticed the tattoos aren't well done at all. Lots of hesitation mark, and the lines are uneven. The fine line work is trash. This is the case with 2 of the 3 tattoos I got. It may also be the case with the 3rd but that's on my back so I don't have the best perspective there. At any rate, if Kaitlin is the only artist available, wait for someone else. I got my second lobes done by Missy and she was wonderful! From the second I walked in I felt comfortable and she walked me through every step of the process and explained everything thoroughly. As an APP piercer, she was very knowledgeable and gave several recommendations for the best healing process as well as having me come back for a follow up appointment in a month to check on the piercing. Despite being super nervous and having a needle phobia she made the process super easy! The jewelry is a little pricey, but it is top tier quality and completely worth spending the money on. This place was, by far, the cleanest and fanciest studio I've ever been in. Everyone was polite and helpful, and it was all a far cry from my first experience way back in the 90s when a guy named Bear tatted my back while he and I both chain smoked Marlboro Reds. I had been admiring Kirsten Marsden's work from afar for a while, and was lucky to have my submission selected when her books opened in Nov '22. I was a little disappointed that her first available wasn't until Aug '23, but I suppose those long waits are a testament to her talent. She came up with a beautiful design based on my hodgepodge ideas. Ain't gonna lie - tattoos hurt, but Kirsten's technique and style hurt way less than I expected. In fact, the only thing that really made me squirrely was that I was getting a thigh tat, and the way I had to lie on my side for a while made my hip ache. Totally attributable to my old bones, though. Maybe I'll bring a mattress topper next time. LOL Anyway, great overall experience, and I hope to get on Kirsten's books for next year. read more

Came back to get another tattoo with Lydia. This was suppose to happen in early 2020, but the 'Rona closed down businesses for a minute. They have strict COVID rules in place (appointment only, call from your vehicle when you arrive, no visitors with you to your appointment, spacious lobby seating, hand sanitizer available and gloves upon request). I worked with Lydia once again on a back tattoo and she is a great! ALL of the artists are talented here and have their own niche, so go online and peruse their work to find one to your liking. I came to Lydia because she is an expert in cover up tattooing and I had her complete one on my arm. They also have a piercing gallery and they are top notch as well. One thing I should mention, check with the artist on their form of payment (some do credit/cash and some do cash only). You have to follow them on their IG page to see when their respective books open up to grab a spot for and let me tell you. They ALL go fast! Got a helix piercing by Missy at the Black Lotus Tattoo Gallery about 5 months ago. She was so great and explained the whole process along the way. The inside of the gallery is beautiful, super clean, and artistically decorated. On the piercing side, I wasn't sure of the whole process because this was my first piercing besides the basic lobe piercing I got in elementary school. First, an appointment needs to be set before having a procedure done. Then you meet to discuss what you are looking to have done. After everything has been discussed, you can browse through the jewelry gallery they have available and pick what you want. I do not think you can bring your own jewelry in. Once the jewelry is selected, you'll go in a room where you will be pierced. Again, Missy explained the whole process, healing time, cleaning, etc. In four weeks, you will get an email from them reminding you to make an appointment to make sure everything is healing properly. Overall, I am very happy with the piercing and placement. I plan to have another done in the near future. read more

I just had my 3rd tattoo done at Black Lotus and the 2nd done by Kirsten. She does amazing work and is super nice. I have gotten multiple compliments on it already. I also had my septum piercing done there as well. Always have a wonderful experience. Only thing is that they are fairly busy and it can take some time to get an appointment depending on the artist and how large the piece is you want done. I am writing to share my horrible experience at Black Lotus Tattoo. At the end of the tattoo session I expressed my displeasure with the tattoo and the artist arbitrarily changed the image without my consent. I asked him to fix it and he said he couldn't and I offered a compromise and when he did the compromise he said "that does look better". He said "my day ends at 6p". This being my 5th tattoo I was never in so much pain. Initially he was using the "shop needles" and then reported "I can't get use to them I am going to get the ones I use". The last hour he went back to the shop needles and I was in agonizing pain. My arm looks like a second degree burn. He told me to check out at the front and I was quoted a price for a 6 hour tattoo. I explained to the girl he arrived half hour late at 1030am and the next time I saw him was at 1230p for review of the picture. Then he went to lunch at 1p. This was not a 10a-6p tattoo: it was a 130p-6p tattoo. This person should not be tattooing: his heart wasn't in it. It appeared he took pleasure that he was late, and took pleasure in using the dull needles and took pleasure in over charging me for the time period he wasn't working. I felt violated and abused by this person with no one to help me. His lack of compassionate was evident on the way he treated me. I think he needs to avoid working until he does this to another customer that may result in serious infection and /or sepsis that could result in death. And I want to add: my son died in 2017 followed by my dad. Two years later my mom died followed by my sister and then my mother-in-law. My son in law lost his sister that left two young children age 4 and 5 without a mother. I go to work every day and give 100 % and if this person is going to be so callous he doesn't belong working with the public. read more

This studio is by far, one of the best in the area. From aesthetics of the studio itself, down to the cleanliness of it as well. I used to frequent a neighboring studio but I'm glad I've found this place. Each and every artist at the studio is amazing. The only downfall is that walk-ins are nearly impossible and booking an appointment for anyone is at least a couple months wait. With that being said, the wait is def worth; ESP for that unique, top quality art. The front desk person is SUPER nice and not intimidating. The studio also has an in-house piercer that is AMAZING. He's so knowledgeable and professional. He will look at any piercing, whether he did it or not, and assist with any of your needs. I've had a lot of my piercings go awry and he's basically fixed all of them. Ask about jewelry, gauges, metals, aftercare, pricing, custom orders, etc. basically, anything and everything, he will help you out. I am forever going to Black Lotus for any tattoo or piercing I want. I have never been more satisfied with my results from both sections. Missy is an amazing piercer. She puts a lot of effort and thought in how she pierces you. When she pierced my daith she wasn't happy with how it looked and offered to redo it. I of course allowed it because I was happy she was a perfectionist and wanted to make sure it healed beautifully. One month later and I couldn't be happier with that and my nose. Even came back my tattoo day and reopened my lobes because she was so great. I got to get tattooed by the amazing LD at the shop. If you're thinking about getting a piercing, you HAVE to go here. Matt is their main piercer and he was nothing but great to both my boyfriend and I. From walking in the door we were instantly greeted and shown jewelry for the septum piercings we wanted. They suggested a 14g piercing with the smallest balls they had; I chose the opal balls (they're absolutely beautiful and super flattering if you have pale/pinker skin). They use the finest jewelry possible, all titanium I believe. On top of that, the jewelry we got is internally threaded which is awesome! Sure, it's a little pricier than some places but it's definitely worth it to ensure your piercing heals properly. And honestly, the entire selection is so beautiful you won't be mad that you can't change it out for a few months. They have a LOT of options. They ensure EVERYTHING is completely sanitized before they pierce you. They have a little piece of paper that will show you if it's sanitized or not after it goes through their magic cleany thing. Not many places do that. They also schedule you to come back a month after your piercing to make sure everything is healing properly. Their customer service is top notch too, one of my balls fell out of my septum ring the night I got it, which understandably happens. I emailed him as he was out at a convention for the week and he immediately got back to me and let me know that he would replace the bead for free when he got back. My boyfriend liked mine so much and the hospitality of the Black Lotus staff that when we went back for the replacement balls he also got his done! Love everything about Black Lotus Tattoo! I got my nose pierced by Corina. She was extremely kind and professional. She took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. This place is super nice on the inside, very clean, and has such a cool, upscale vibe. Definitely not like some creepy hole in the wall tattoo shops... With that said, the piercing jewelry is definitely on the high end. Everything is real gold, diamonds, and other genuine stones. You get what you pay for though, and because everything is high quality I haven't experienced any problems with my piercing. No keloids, no nose piercing bumps. The after care has been painless and easy. I'm looking forward to my follow up appointment and will probably switch out my stud for a hoop. I've wanted to get my septum pierced for the last couple of years; and I've always been terrified of the pain and the actual process. After doing major research on different piercers around the area; I found Matt. He is amazing; the actual piercing took about 2 seconds and I didn't even feel anything.
