For my first time ever getting a tattoo, this shop really solidified the experience for me. I called the shop soon after they opened & after hearing that they take walk ins, I sent my inspiration photos, calmed myself (because my nervous excitement was very real I found myself on the cobblestone streets where Saints & Sinners is. Dwaine greeted me & gave me a concise rundown of the process. Upon hearing it was my first time, he was very warm and reassured me that I was in good hands. Waited while my design was drawn up by Dave (who is also the resident landscaper) & took in all the inspiration on the walls. There were frames and books a-plenty. About 10 minutes later, Dave tells me to come upstairs - it's getting real now! From the time he laid the stencil down to the last swipe took all of a solid 20 minutes; I hadn't even got to the juicy part of the podcast I was listening to. After my tears (happy & bittersweet ones for personal reasons) and my payment, I left the shop with my tattoo wrapped well & with stickers, pins and lollipops in my aftercare kit. Sweet. This place is the best tattoo shop that I've had the pleasure of getting some amazing awesome work done at. Everyone here is super friend and willing to help bring your ideas to life. Prices are phenomenal. The shop itself smells like walking into a doctors office as clean as it is. The mass amount of flash art on the walls, I could just spend time observing it and taking in the beautiful work. Even with covid they were extremely on point in the cleanliness and procedures in place to keep everyone safe. Parking is the only thing I could say anything negative about and really isn't the shops fault because of how the city has the streets partially blocked off for outdoor dining at local restaurants but I found reasonably priced parking just up the street. read more

Always a fantastic experience. Have gone to see Monica for each of my appointments, usually with Austin on the assist for the welcome and for the station cleanup! Shop is super diligent about following safety guidelines during the pandemic, not to mention general shop standards, which they exceed! I feel safer there than anywhere else these days. Have been for seven tattoos and each time is better than the last. I dunno if it's the science of tattooing and how it's always evolving, or if it's just that this shop (and Monica especially) are top of the tops, but I've never had a better tattoo experience during inking, or during healing. No joke. Machines are great, inks are gorgeous, and saniderm bandages are incredible. Sorcery I tell you! Every tattooer there is so so talented!! As someone who's gotten his first tattoo here, it was a great first experience. When walking in you will be greeted by a front desk person on your right, and to your left are various colorful art pieces hanging on the wall. The shop is well kept and very clean. The staff is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable in their craft. My artist Jim is really nice and a very chill, down-to-earth guy (I highly recommend him if you are thinking about getting a biomech piece). During my session he would periodically ask me if I'm doing alright before continuing. Overall, a great tattoo place to go to if you are in the Baltimore area. So today I got my first tattoo, no I got my first three at the same time. I had Christian. He was very friendly and afterwards he took the time to talk to me about aftercare and answer my questions. The guy at the front desk was nice. I love the staff. At first I didn't know it was all male but it didn't make a difference. They all seem to get along. The shop is epic. And I love the artist cards. Even stated if I have any trouble just call and ask. So I'll be back for my back and wrist. Oh and the Netflix they have hooked up makes time waiting go by faster. The first two were to get my piercing temporarily removed for an MRI and subsequently replaced a few days later. The third time was to replace my jewelry since my previous nose stud had become unscrewed and fallen out. Each time, the service has left something to be desired. At first I thought I just came in on an off day, but I've remained disappointed. My first two experiences with the piercer were unremarkable -- not bad but not outstanding either. This last time, I had a new nose stud put in, only to find it fully unscrewed the next day because it had not been properly secured. My fiancée and I are really big into tattoos. I'd say between the 2 of us we have over 40 tattoos. Quality work is very important because we all know it will be on your skin forever. They are by far the best tattoo shop that I have been to. They take a very professional and consultative approach with their clients. On top of it, they make you feel extremely comfortable and treat you like family. As soon as I walk in, shop manager, Shawn will be there smiling and joking around with me. He will ask how my English Bulldog is doing and so on. It's sincere and not robotic. Shop owner Jim does the same. He did my first tattoo at the shop. I just happened to stop in today and he had little time. He made some time and amplified an existing piece. He is very down to earth, focused and does amazing work. He doesn't walk around like he's "the boss". His operations run smoothly and effectively. Then there is my my guy...Jon. We've spent hours together! He is extremely creative, funny and takes his work very seriously. I can't even count how many tattoos I've got from him. I have his work hanging on the walls of my home! I give him an idea and he goes to work. I trust him that much because I know that it will end up awesome....not to mention I get compliments on my work a lot. That speaks for itself. I already have 2 appointments set up with him for the next couple months. Tattoos are a huge deal. It's art that stays on your body forever. It also has a lot of meaning to some. Based off of other reviews I am very confused and upset by my experience here... I went in to get a septum piercing. The piercer (I think it was Shane ? Idk I don't even remember him introducing himself to me) was immediately condescending when I asked my first question about jewelry options and then told me I could go to another shop down the road. I said I wanted to think about it and so when he came back he proceeded to be rude, condescending, and frankly insulting explaining his personal opinions on the aesthetics of the jewelry I originally wanted. I left Bc I didn't want the dude touching me and ruining what should be a fun experience. Not sure if he was just having a bad day or just judged me as soon as I walked in the door, assuming I was uninformed, stupid, or whatever he thought warranted that terrible customer service. Either way it wasn't cool and I ended up leaving feeling shitty about the place. Gonna find someone who's willing to be kind and helpful, regardless of which jewelry I choose to put on my own body. If you want to pierce your nipples- go somewhere else. I had my nipples pierced for 2 years prior (done at Read st. never had problems) and I let them close up. I came here to re-pierce them and let the piercer know they've been pierced before. He said that wouldn't be a problem. He quickly pierced them but the weird thing was the jewelry he used was teeny?? I asked if that was on purpose and he said that once the swelling stops they'll look alright. The next morning I woke up and the piercing was stuck in the middle of my nipple. Like- the ball of the bar was completely submerged in my nipple?? I called them and they told me the same thing again- "just clean it out with sea salt and it should stop swelling in 2 days. wear loose clothes." I've had my nipples pierced before- I knew I was taking care of them right and this totally didn't happen last time. Well, two days go by and I'm popping the jewelry out of my body like 4 times a day. (sea salting twice a day- wearing loose T no bra whatever) I call them and I find out the piercer won't be in for like 4 days so I had to go to another place and pay extra for new CORRECT size of jewelry. Not only that but the piercer there pointed out to me (and this I had noticed but hoped it would go away with the correct size jewelry) that my left nipple ring was noticeably crooked. : I read more

I went in on a Monday a while back when I heard S&S does $10 off piercings on Mondays and got 2 cartilage piercings by Cheyne. Was very impressed with his sterile technique and knowledge, we got to talking and he told me he has been piercing for 14 years! Very friendly and was nice enough to help distract me while he did the piercing since I don't like to see needles even though I've been pierced many times. The piercings healed better than any of the 8 other ones I've had from other shops (including 2 previous cartilage piercings), and I've sent multiple friends to him since then and they've all been very happy. The counter guy Sean is also really funny and he regularly organizes tattoo art charity events for kids, I've stopped in just to say hi when I'm in Fells and to see what tattoos are coming out. I decided to get my tattoo in Baltimore because every shop I came across in NYC quoted me $200 an hour with a 5 hour slot. Originally I emailed Brett Burnham who gave me his email addy when I requested it via IG. Before I decide on who I'd like to spend my money with I almost always have questions. Who wants to pay for a service and not receive what they want/need? Me going forward with you depends on how you respond to these questions. It's never anything over the top. I simply asked if they took cards and asked for a quote in the first email. I supplied him with everything to supply me with a quote from the jump and I was given one. I was told to come in to speak further and I asked if he'd be in the following weekend since I was coming to Baltimore that weekend. He ignored me. I waited 3 days and sent out a follow up email to be ignored again. 2 days before me coming to town I sent a final follow up stating if I don't receive a response I'll take it as he doesn't want my business and leave it at that. Of course he didn't respond but was posting on IG. I know this because I was tagging my friends to show them his work because I was still excited to find someone with work as eccentric as his & I mean that in the best way. Everyone thought he was dope. He has a very distinctive style that catches your eye and stands out. He'll probably still get business from the people that I showed his work to. I came in regardless that Saturday in February. I let them know my interaction with Brett and they proceeded to tell me he wasn't in on Saturdays. They also mentioned just emailing the shop directly. That was the main reason why I wanted to know when he worked so I wouldn't be wasting my time but I had already decided not to spend my money on a person who wasn't responsive. I decided to listen to my gut on this one instead of coming back to speak with him. Booked with the owner, Jim Judeikis. Setup my appointment for April and geeked with Shawn and the other guy at the front desk. They are hilarious and extremely personable. Shawn's funny af. My appointment was at noon on the 15th and I got there a little early to get something to eat and chill out. My appointment started at 12:30pm and ended about 10 after 3pm. I booked a 4 hour appointment and we were done well before. I believe they round up when calculating your rate if you're booking hourly. Either that or they calculate setup time. I don't know. That was kinda weird to me but I do feel like my tattoo was worth what I paid plus Jim is really friendly and sociable. Sometimes you come across those dickhead artists who feel like they walk among the Gods or some ish. We were vibing for a while until that pain started to kick in lol. He was even explaining how artists containers have to now be labeled and how there's another new process when it comes to healing and aftercare. The most intense pain came during the detail work. He numbed my leg to go over the detail and I ended up requesting Saniderm which was $5 for two sheets! I'm like are you kidding?! That's cheap! Only the best for my tattoo LOL! This is and will probably always be the biggest piece on my body. All of that damn pain lol. Jim applied my first sheet of Saniderm after wiping down the tattoo. I'd definitely recommend Saniderm especially if you have a larger tattoo. After 24 hours you take off the bandage and clean it with an antibacterial or scentless soap and allow it to dry. Reapply the last sheet and leave it on up to 6 days and you're healed. Some people may need a 3rd sheet. It allows your tattoo to breathe while sealing in all of the regenerating healing elements that your skin automatically has. Not having to worry about scabbing, ink rubbing off and gels getting everywhere is great. They precut the sheet for you as well. I tipped Jim out and hobbled my way home. He told me after it heals I'll be able to see more detailed work and it'll contrast well against my skin tone. I really like artists who have a diverse background in inking different skin tones. What works for one will not always work for another. read more

I had to go here after another place messed up a nose piercing. I fell in love instantly. Since that first visit, I have had three more piercings and one tattoo, with two more tattoos and one more piercing scheduled. I just cannot recommend them enough. Everyone is very knowledgeable, and will take time to answer your questions and concerns. There is a female piercer on staff for those intimate piercings (yes, I have had that done, yes, it hurt for second, but it healed quickly and is awesome). Their tattoo artists range from good to great, and they will let you know up front who is best for the design you have picked out. They will also be very clear about how your tattoo will look over time, which I think is awesome. It would be so easy to take my money give me exactly what I want and not tell me that my cute little spirals are going to look like crap in a couple of years. But they don't. They understand better than anyone that this is a permanent part of who you are and they want you to look as happy with it on day one as on year ten. Good, clean shop with quality artists. Jim is a nice guy, very down to earth, and does great work. Hunter Spanks used to work here, and did a lot of my work. (I think he works at HFBL in Hampden now). They also carry artwork and clothing, all reasonably priced. I've gotten a decent amount of work done here. Never had a problem. If you notice, a lot of the negative Yelp reviews are from people who didn't know what they wanted, didn't do any research, and don't have any clue what they're talking about. Listen to advice about tattoo shops from people with tattoos...not from sorority girls with a dime-sized unicorn on their ankle that they decided to get while drunkenly wandering around Fells Point. read more

I really appreciated that he followed up with my review, I think it showed he cares about his shop and his customers and I'm now considering going back to have my numbers fixed next time I'm in the area. The tattoo artist that did my tattoo is no longer at S&S and I hold to my previous review that she did not do a good job nor listen to what I actually wanted, but after getting the e-mail from Jim, I would go back and give their shop and another artist another chance. Because I don't doubt that he has talented tattoo artists working for him. To further my review of the shop. It was a very clean shop and girl at the front desk was very nice to me. My Old Review... Got my first tattoo here and absolutely regret it. Not only did the artist not listen to what I wanted the tattoo is is horrible. What part of Grayscale does someone not understand. I got a green tattoo instead. When I commented, she said its only a few highlight and it was only slight. HA, that was a joke. Its ALL green. Good thing its my fav color. The tattoo is very flat and bland no depth at all which is what I stressed I wanted. Also I got a 2 digit number and the numbers are not even. Stood up front for a few minutes while they girls at the front desk ignored me, until they're super sweet piercing apprentice came out to welcome me and go over questions and forms. I came here this past weekend to get a new piercing. I called the week before I came and they said I didn't need an appointment, just to call before I come in to make sure the piercer was in. Theres a decent amount of parking so it wasn't too difficult to get to. After being greeted and signing a waiver and paying, I was introduced to the piercer, Shane. I was kind of bummed there wasn't a female piercer on staff, but Shane put me at ease. He answered my questions and was very professional. I was probably in and out of the room in 4 minutes. Shane kind of surprised me with the piercing, but that was good because I would have been too nervous to look. Also, just a heads up, but they don't allow anyone else in the piercing room so you're gonna have to leave your friend in the waiting room. The pricing of the piercing was reasonable and included the price of the jewelry. If I ever work up the courage to get another piercing or perhaps a tat I'll definitely come back here! read more

My first visit to Baltimore (on my birthday weekend) included staying with my closest friends, partying it up a club, wandering around the waterfront, going to a museum AND most importantly heading over to Saints and Sinners. I can't say that I have any prior experience getting a tattoo since my visit to Saints and Sinners was to give myself a birthday gift of my first tattoo. However, my friend who escorted me there had gotten her first tattoo there about a year earlier (one she designed herself and got on her back on her far left.) with her friend who has gone there several times, so I had two recommendations for their quality of service. They were very friendly, joking around and making me feel less nervous as I filled out forms, had my design reworked and waited for an artist to get ready. I got a small tattoo of the Ancient Greek noun that my name comes from on the back of my neck, right where my hairline is. It was about 3 in. long and 1 in. high, small but with a price tag of $100 which didn't seem unreasonable to me. It only took like 20-30 minutes (small enough that I could get away without an appointment)! The guys were really nice and professional, and their space was very tidy and clean and they explained their health procedures with the needles and ink, and also gave me a detailed aftercare guide for while my tattoo healed. It was a really great experience, and if I ever decide to get another tattoo I might just go back there! read more

She decided to get a tattoo and I decided I was going to get my nipple pierced. Spontaneity! Woo! Anyways, the guys working here are suuuper cool. We didn't really have to wait, they helped us right away. She got a really good price for her tattoo and my nipple piercing was no more than 80 bucks including tip! Clean, sterile environment and not to mention they were playing some kick ass music the entire time. For what it's worth, I have NOT yet had a tat done here. However, LoML stopped in for a consultation about covering up a bad tat, and I started looking around, impressed by the artwork that I saw available. The shop rep was very friendly and knowledgable and talked to both of us about our individual options - LoML's potential cover job and a new tat for me. I had inquired about my being a diabetic (since I know that some shops won't do work on diabetics due to the liability) and they'd said it was no problem if I were able to obtain clearance from my doctor. This is great, since I had previously given up all hope of getting a tat - now it's possible. I looked through the books and was mightily impressed with some of the pieces. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants to get pierced - she's seriously awesome. Went to get the other side of my nose pierced on a Thursday afternoon...was seriously in and out in less than 10 minutes. The dudes were friendly enough and gave me what I wanted at a reasonable price. And it didn't get infected at all (unlike the other side of my nose, which I got done somewhere else). Shane pierced my nose then a bump formed even after I followed his cleaning directions (which I must say, aside from make "some saline", it wasn't much) and now almost 3 months later this bump still won't go away. I had suspected it was pierced at a bad angle because I have the other side of my nose pierced and it doesn't sit like the other one.. and it's not symmetrical at all... It was confirmed by another shop that it got pierced at an angle that won't ever let it heal, so there's a waste of $60. Hopefully it'll heal without leaving a scar on my face and I can get it re-pierced. I'd recommend to do your research before going into a shop with "a deal". read more
