My experience at Stay Humble Tattoo Co. was outstanding from start to finish. Thankful I am able to say that Andrew Vidakovich did my very first tattoo and hopefully many more. He was kind, professional, thoughtful, and extremely talented. Trust me when I say that he is well worth whatever wait he currently has. He made sure I understood how to take care of my tattoo as well when everything was over. The shop is clean, open, and very nice. They have free snacks and fun drinks for their clients as well. ALEX_Sabur!!!! (Follow him on IG) Where to begin? I received my first (9 hour) piece from Alex in 2013... Many years have passed, I have moved to New Jersey and still find time to make my way down to Bmore for m'boy every blue moon. Since 2013 I have received about another 10 hours from him and will not go to anyone else.  Alex as a person: Alex openly takes the time to evolve as an artist, AND evolve as a person. How does that matter? The outcome of your work translates PERFECTLY into the vision you thought only you could see in your mind. I consider him an all encompassing tattoo artist, not someone who traces from one idea and slaps it on your skin.  With Alex, you have the opportunity to watch your idea form into a reality. For my most recent tattoo, I asked for 2 Namakubi with afros on the upper back thighs - not easy to describe - but once completed, EVERYONE understood and (greatly) appreciated his work. A coworker drove down with me, came in with ideas-ish, they communicated for a while, he gave his honest opinion about placement and such... BOOM! She is getting even MOAR compliments than me! She cannot stop showing me her (Forearms and one top of foot)  tattoos: They are simple, yet specific. Very clean and well done, IMO. When it comes to Alex's capabilities? STUPID GOOD! Alex is clean, professional, listens and makes sure you are happy before his drawing touches the tracing paper. He is also amazeballs with lines and is fast (thank you, baby jebus). When he is tattooing, you can feel how even he is on your skin and doesn't press hard like he's trying to ink up your effin soul. Last point: I was at a bar in Bmore the night before my session, the bartender and I were talking about tattoos, he has a BEAUTIFUL elephant on his forearm, and we all were drooling about the detail. He asked where I was going to get my tattoo and I said "I only come back for Alex." He said "That's who did this one!!! I want to see him so badly, but I do not know what I want, but it doesn't matter because I trust him." When I walked out, he yelled "Please tell Alex I am on his waitlist!" If that random meeting of strangers does not get you into Alex's chair? I pity you and your crap judgement. (Yeah, I said it. Alex may stay humble, but I won't)  And yes, I told Alex about you being on the waiting list, if you are reading this, Bartender guy. read more

I was at the gym recently when someone asked me who did my newest tattoo. It was then that I realized I've yet to leave a review for Stay Humble! I've only been here once to get a Justice Tarot card piece from Alecia. As some others have commented on here, Alecia is incredibly talented. Alecia's style is truly unique - combining traditional, bold, and sometimes dainty linework all together. I'm not a huge fan of flash tattoos but her designs are some of the best, and most different, I've seen of any tattoo artist. She really takes her time to ensure the placement is just right and takes your feedback if you desire any changes. I think she placed the stencil on my arm at least three or four times but I didn't mind at all because she was making sure the curvature of my arm, while flexed or unflexed, wouldn't jeopardize the integrity of the design. I can confidently say that regardless of how I place my arm, the design stays the same and doesn't move around or contort like some other tattoos I have in similar spots. The only reason I knocked off a star is because some staff members were not wearing masks even though the city wide mask mandate is still in effect. Not to mention, getting a tattoo is one of the most intimate things you could have done, and knowing some people in this tiny space weren't wearing masks made me feel a little uncomfortable. Overall, I'm a big fan of Alecia's and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for something different, bold, and beautiful! read more

Alecia is a wonderfully talented artist! She did my 2nd tattoo, I was a little worried about it because it's a lot larger than my first, but she was great. She's very accommodating and understanding and patient. The shop is very cute and has good, non-intimidating vibes. Everyone who worked there was friendly, and it's well-stocked with snacks and drinks. It's one of my favorite shops I've ever been in (having accompanied friends to get tattoos) in terms of atmosphere - it's hard to not feel a little cowed in shops when you're a novice, but Stay Humble felt really welcoming. I have had a good experience with getting a tattoo and my previous tattoo looks great but I have been cancelled on and rebook so many times in the past, the first time I was cancelled on twice before I got in and got the tattoo done and now I got an email with a cancellation and rebooking again today, I get that people have things going on in their life and all but I planned my whole weekend around getting this tattoo done. I could have spent time with my family but instead while getting ready to leave to head to the shop I got the email with the cancellation losing precious time with my family. It's just a little annoying feeling like my time has been wasted on so many times and that I've been let down so many times. I've gotten tattooed by four different artists here, including two traveling artists and all the work is clean and stellar. It's located in the Hampden part of Baltimore near a bunch of mom & pop shops and some good restaurants. The shop itself is very clean and the artists are all super easy to talk to and make you feel at home. They don't do too many walk-ins to my knowledge so make sure to call ahead about scheduling. Parking on W. 36th is pretty easy, a bit busier on the weekends: pay by the hour with a four hour max. Cash is the best way to go in most tattoo shops. read more

I am shocked that Stay Humble doesn't have more reviews on Yelp, which is why even though my tattoo isn't 100% complete, I decided to share my experience. As a warning, this is a long one but tattoos are FOREVER so it's important to make an informed choice. This was my first tattoo and I was very apprehensive. I've been wanting one for more than 10 years, but wasn't sure if I would ever find the right artist until I saw a Dave Wah tattoo. Trust me, he is a GENIUS. He is usually booked, but if you email him an idea that he approves, he will put you on a waitlist. I was incredibly lucky to be squeezed in based on a cancellation. 1. CONSULTATION: I stopped by a few days before my appointment to consult with Dave. This was a fairly quick process and I explained my concept, where I wanted the tattoo, and colors. I then emailed him some photos of things I liked/didn't like. Be very specific! 2. LOCATION: It's a tricky spot to find, but it's right above the Charmery. If you are standing right at the Charmery's door, just make a right on Chestnut, and you'll see Stay Humble's sign. 3. ATMOSPHERE: Okay, I'll confess that tattoo parlours have always intimidated me. I think of myself as a shy nerdy girl, and imagine that tattoo shops are usually filled with confident tattooed men. But don't worry- they make you feel comfortable. Shawn checked me in, was very nice and reassuring (he could probably tell I was nervous), and made sure to point out all the snacks!!! Yes, they have cookies and chips and delicious beverages for you to consume. The bathroom is also very clean and there's a waiting area. Also, the whole shop smells like ice cream. 4. LAYOUT: It's one large room with several "stations." Dave's area was in the back and there were two other tattoo artists who were also tattooing. You can hear other people's conversations (but that usually fades in the background once your body starts getting tattooed) and there was a handful of people mingling about. Don't be shy because someone will probably comment about what's getting done on your body. 5. PRICE: $160/hour. I don't know if that is higher or lower than average, but I will say that every dollar that I have spent so far was DEFINITELY WORTH IT. If you're going to pay for a piece of art that will be on your body, don't skimp. They take both cash and card, but I would bring extra cash for a tip. 6. THE SKETCH: This was all new to me, but Dave showed me the sketch that he had worked on. I'm not sure how he did it, but from that short conversation we had, he somehow created something beautiful, classy, unique, and exactly what I wanted. I had seen my tattoo concept on the internet, but his drawing was on a whole different dimension. 7. THE PLACEMENT: He then spent about an hour placing the sketch on my back. Yes- that's correct- AN HOUR. I just want to illustrate that he has a very high level of care and clearly wanted to make sure the placement was just right. I also have a friend who told me that Dave spent a lot of time perfectly fitting his tattoo to his bicep. 8. THE PROCESS: Then, the tattooing began. Yes, it hurts, but I think Dave went as gentle as possible. Toward the end, I was squirming and that's when we had to call it quits. We didn't talk at all during the process and there's music playing in the background. It's probably good to bring headphones just in case you aren't feeling what they are playing over the speakers. OVERALL: Personally, my tattoo only has the outline and the black/gray shading complete but it really is so beautiful and meticulously done that it makes me want to cry every time I see it. Save up your money, come to Stay Humble, and get a tattoo you'll love forever! read more

Unquestionably and objectively the most talented group of tattoo artists in Baltimore and I suspect in all Maryland. Superb quality and custom designs. I don't know why Yelp has put 4 dollar signs because the pricing is not really that different than the other tattoo shops in Baltimore and felt all my tattoos there were much cheaper than I expected. I probably would peg this shop as 2 dollar signs for tattoo shops.Of all the artists you can pretty much find any style you want from Japanese, traditional, black line work, neo traditional, or probably anything you want to create... there's someone there who can make your design a reality. All the artists there are super friendly and easy to work with. And the kicker: the shop smells like sugary waffle cones because it sits right above the charmery, which is a nice plus. read more
