Be careful how you ask the ice cream person - who seemed he wanted to be anywhere else - if you want a sample. I asked "to try" one of the flavors, and immediately he began scooping it out for me! (Apparently you have to ask for "a taste".). A single scoop in a cup is $7.50. All's well that ends well, the Coffee Toffee was delicious! I brought it over to the marina and comfortably vegged out watching the water, boats and enjoying my Coffee Toffee. I would have liked more and larger toffee bits, but a small complaint. Seating may be OK for ice cream, although when I was there the cafe was crowded and seats were all taken.

I was afraid the pancakes and french toast would be super sweet, but they weren't. The pancakes were fluffy and not too sweet. The toppings were well incorporated and not over powering. The French toast was perfectly cooked and not too big. The whipped cream was delicious and not overly sweet. I was afraid the coffee would be mediocre, but it was perfect. I wish I lived here so I could try more of the menu! Our server, Audley, was polite, understood the menu, and timely. It was the best breakfast I have ever had, so I wanted to make sure the staff knew what a great time I had. I asked to speak to the manager. Yelp is fine, but I strongly believe in paying compliments directly to those in charge. The manager could not have been less interested in talking to me. A middle aged, medium height, average sized, medium blonde haired woman with large earrings, anxious eyes, and a false smile... she was quick to come over and quick to ignore me. She made minimal eye contact, turned her body away from me, and proceeded to pick up plates before I had finished my sentence. She turned her body away before I was done speaking. As soon as she felt I had spoken long enough, she left. It was a strange experience for an otherwise pleasant meal. If I lived closer, I'd likely choose somewhere else for future breakfasts. When management isn't interested in doing their job, service tends to follow. It's too bad. If only she had managed to stand still, face me, and listen... I might have given this a five star review.

There actually is another Doud's down Main Street toward the ferry area, but it's a smaller grab-and-go convenience store, mostly with snacks and coffee. My hotel was right across the street, so I bopped into Doud's a couple of times during my stay, to grab a bottle of wine (they have a decent selection of wine), some candy for my kids, and some fruit because I needed to eat something fresh. The store is tidy and everything is arranged nicely. They also have self-checkout kiosks, so you can get in and out quickly.
