After explaining that we received a wrong order the staff had a stiff face as if we were talking gibberish. Not just us but whomever was next in queue there was no smile, no greetings exchanged! My husband and I quickly stopped by to get some Moomer's ice cream. I had him go inside while I waited with the kids. I did ask for one scoop and they gave me more than one. The total for a cone and a small cup of ice cream was around $20. The price was a little high. However, the ice cream did taste really good. The cow tracks is similar to moos tracks. It did have big peanut butter balls which were delicious. Overall its a great place to stop in for some dessert. They also have food options as well. read more

We recently visited the island and we were starving as we arrived. This spot was quick and efficient and the staff was great! We ordered a 6" BLT with avocado and a 12" #8 that had chicken, lettuce, tomato, bacon and chipotle's mayo to split between two people. The sandwiches were great! Kinda like a mix of jimmy johns and subway but better cuz the ingredients were local and fresh. We found a spot in the front window and enjoyed the soda choices even! We got to Mackinac Island around lunchtime and our first order of business before we did our bike around the island was to do a quick lunch. We didn't want anything too "sit down" at a restaurant, plus the island was busy, so we were also looking for somewhere with no wait so we wouldn't have to waste time. Enter - Good Day Cafe! This spot is SO CUTE and seriously so inviting. It's the perfect spot for a quick pick me up and we were all able to get drinks and a sandwich, which was the perfect pre-8 mile bike ride meal! It hit the spot, and if we weren't chomping at the bit ready to go biking around the island, we probably would've indulged in their Moomer's ice cream selection as well!! Next time! This spot is perfect for a quick bite and honestly, it was one of the few that we spotted on that main road right where you enter Mackinac Island that could do a quick bite with no wait, so definitely a pro tip for all those who are looking for this throughout their Mackinac Island adventures! I had a simple iced latte with caramel flavoring, and it was DELICIOUS. Literally the best iced latte I've ever had, do yourself a favor and keep walking past the Starbucks. Great spot for lunch. We needed a quick, easy, economical meal. We received two terrific sandwiches that survived the 15-20 minute walk back to our hotel patio. My Ta Da Turkey Pesto sandwich hit the mark. Flavorful, filling and enough going on to make it interesting. Served on ciabatta bread. Yum. Husband chose the Island Cuban which was also a nice sandwich. Compared to other prices on the island, this lunch felt like a good deal. They also offered yummy sounding smoothies and ice cream, too! We usually stop by here at least once during our time on the Island. They have a good variety of ice cream, coffee drinks, smoothies, pastries and sandwiches. I like getting the flight so we can try bunch of flavors. The ice cream is pretty good and creamy. It was very clean and had few tables to sit inside. read more

Apparently, this is the hot spot to get ice cream on Mackinac Island, because Good Day Cafe was packed. When we visited, almost everyone was in line to get ice cream, so I'm not even sure what else they serve here beyond ice cream. The ice cream, though, was delicious. I don't even really like ice cream, and I enjoyed every bite. I got cookies n' cream, which had big chunks of Oreo cookies in it. I got my ice cream in a cup, but of course you can get it in a cone, in a sundae, or in a shake or malt. The ice cream they sell here is Moomers, which is local to northern Michigan. There were a few seats inside the shop, but mostly people got their treats to go. read more

Every time I visit the Island, I find myself also visiting Good Day Café. It is a friendly and delicious place to get a quick bite to eat, start your day off with breakfast, or treat yourself to ice cream. It is easy to get to and easy to find within downtown. It is one of its kind on the Island since downtown has either sit-down places or ice cream/dessert only places. Good Day Café offers a little bit of everything too and it is decently priced and comes out quick. My last couple trips were trying their breakfast sandwich and smoothies. The breakfast sandwich was huge and packed with all of the fixings. Very generous with the meat, egg, and cheese - even the size of the bagel was big. The smoothie, Berry Bliss was also a good size for the price. The smoothie was packed with big berry flavor and hit the spot on a hot day. Single stall bathrooms are in the back. Good amount of places to sit both inside and a few benches line the windows outside to sit. A must try when visiting! read more

My family visited Good Day Cafe 3 times over a 2 day period. While we enjoyed the food and drinks, the service on our last day was unacceptable. Seating inside is very limited so when a group before us did not clear their table of their ice cream sampler I took the time to take care of their dishes for them so my family had a place to sit. I did not see a spot for dirty dishes so I took it up to the counter and kindly handed it to the staff. I was not angry, I was not rude, I just simply handed the dirty dishes (that weren't mine) to the staff. While my husband was still standing at the counter waiting for our drinks and I went to the table to sit with my kids my husband heard the staff drop the F word a number of times cussing me behind my back. I had just spent $60 and cleaned my own table and the staff had the audacity to cuss me out. My husband was so disgusted, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We had a really bad experience when we went for coffee and dessert at the end of the night. (And the coffee from the morning definitely was not good enough to make up for the last experience). The workers behind the ice cream were not nice to us or to other customers. To the point where the 4 groups of people around us commented on how unwelcoming and unfriendly the 2 guys behind the ice cream counter were. I don't know what it is but everyone else on the island was super nice and everywhere else we went this weekend has been wonderful. It was actually shocking how poor of customer service it was. I felt like I had to write a review because the experience here as a whole just sat wrong with our group. I would have maybe given it 2 stars but you really do expect better on Mackinac Island especially when there are so many options around. Leaving this review so that either others can go to a better place or the management can hire nicer people(judging by the negative reviews for the last few years doesn't look like the second one is a good bet). This review is based solely on the ice cream. In my opinion, if you go to Macinac Island, you can't leave without having at least one scoop! You walk inside and the delicious smell hits you in the face. It's in a great location once you get off the ferry and walk a bit to the right. We took our cones to the park nearby and sat down to enjoy them. Definitely recommend any that have Macinac fudge in them. read more

We visited on Saturday July 27th 2024 and the staff was absolutely miserable. My husband stood and waited for our smoothies to be made and the girls making the smoothies bad mouthed every customer in the store. We ordered three smoothies and when she sat them down, he asked which one was which and she rolled her eyes before proceeding to tell him. It's a shame that the staff can make such a difference in your experience because the smoothies were good. I suggest the manager have a conversation with the staff about where they're working and what time of year. Busy should be expected and if they can't handle it they should work elsewhere. We got to Mackinac Island from St. Ignace on the very first ferry in the morning. I believe, for the most part, the only other people on the ferry with us were people traveling to Mackinac for work. We got to the beautiful island, and realized we had not had our morning infusion of coffee! We decided to grab some coffee and do a little walk-see tour before our actual tour begun 2 hours later. Boy, am I glad that we came to this shop. I ordered the Butter Drop Latte, and my husband the White Mocha Latte. Mine was silky smooth, rich and yummy, and his was delicious too. Instead of walking and drinking, we sat in house, seated within the warm and welcoming ambience and enjoyed our coffees to the max before leaving. The ice cream here is from a place called Moomers. I heard this is an ice cream maker in the area. I didn't get to try some of the cafe items, but they looked delicious. I will definitely be back for a breakfast sandwich. Staff was friendly despite being busy. The scoops are huge. Ice cream tastes fresh and homemade. Many flavors that rotate. I noticed they even have nitro coffee that they use for a float. My family loved it here. Highly recommend for a great scoop. Update: I went back for breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was just okay. Lacked salt. Pretzel bun was nice and soft though. The bacon was more like slices of ham. read more

My wife and I went to Good Day Cafe for Moomers ice cream. Honestly, not good. I had the cherry something. Sorry can't remember. It had cherries and brownie in it. It was more like brownie with a little ice cream. Never tasted the cherry. Service wasn't good either. We were waiting and then the servers friends came in and we were totally forgotten. Loved getting ice cream after our bike ride around mackinaw! They had a good selection of flavors and we enjoyed trying a few!

We thought the food was very good, prices comparable to elsewhere. Would have been nice to know that the bacon on the sandwich was Canadian--my friend would not order. Sadly, most of the staff was not friendly, particularly the young woman taking our order--no smile, eye contact, taking care of business only. Actually threw my ice cream away. The Mackinac island fudge has hard chunks of chocolate versus fudge swirls. Rock hard chocolate is not satisfying. They don't offer samples either so you don't know what you are getting. The raspberry sorbet is also lack luster. They had me at "homemade ice cream" and we checked out multiple places looking for something authentic- but this home ain't tasty.
