Cute little coffee shop that is open in the winter (when lots of things are not). Makes a pretty good latte. The barista lacked customer service skills (seemed like it was a chore to take my order) but did make good coffee. Cute fireplace and sitting area to use as well.

    Sunday morning yum!

The mini cooper and motorcycle events made it nearly impossible to get Sunday breakfast. That is until we found this gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside but walk in and it's very comfortable. The food is good and so is the coffee. All reasonably priced. The staff worked very quickly and were very nice.

We stopped by on our way up to the Soo and since it was 10:30 am we got breakfast food. Definitely plan to come back during lunch/dinner next time.

Skip to the end to see my rating scale…read more The three things I look for in a brewery are an inviting outdoor space, accessibility to some good food options, and (of course) some quality beers. Big bonus if a place is dog friendly. Salty Mac accomplishes all of these parameters. It's self-serve, so it's a little different in that regard, but someone was always handy to get you pointed in the right direction with how the taps work - and there are a lot to pick from! They have options for wine, seltzers, ciders, and about a dozen different varieties of beers. In my experience it's tough to have that many offerings and produce a brew that's fantastic and make me want to come back for the beer alone. So while none of the beers were fantastic, there are enough solid options that I found one I liked and happily ran through three within a short time. The flatbreads available were really nice. We had a crab rangoon and a white, both excellent. Lastly I need to point out their tipping policy. The owners decided to pay their staff a good competitive wage so that their income wasn't based on the number of customers through the door. For that reason, all the tips are donated to local charities which were listed on a card near the register. I absolutely love that approach and wish more places did it that way. Much respect for this! My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

There was a wait and the food took a bit too, but it was still doable. I loved all the options and the sandwiches are a good size! They come with a bag of chips, but you can upgrade to get a drink and additional side (I picked the coleslaw). I think I would have just been fine with the chips, honestly. The coleslaw was good, but not anything amazing. I thought my sandwich was pretty good, and I appreciate the dips and sauces they serve with it. The chicken on my sandwich was a bit dry, but the sauce helped a lot. I got to try a different sandwich from my friend and it was good too, but also a bit dry (oddly!). I'd definitely come back here again and I think this spot is a great option. The area is so congested, expensive, and busy, so I appreciated that this was different!

I was very surprised at how empty this place was because the food was so good!! You get a large portion for 15-18$ and it comes with choice of chips. I love the creative combination of flavors, works so well!! After eating American food all weekend, I was looking for something that stood out and Zachariahs was just what I was looking for! Had a hard time deciding between the Mighty Mac and Pistachio Press. Went with the Mighty Mac & it didn't disappoint. High protein and the Greek yogurt ranch was phenomenal. I should have gotten both to be honest because I can't stop thinking of the pistachio press. Lol

The baristas took the time to ask what we were looking for and helped us navigate the menu. The drinks were delicious, and we enjoyed them enough to stop by two days in a row while visiting Mackinaw City. On the first day, I ordered the Coconut Paradise. It was a little heavy on the ice, likely because it was made by a barista in training, but the flavor was well balanced. It was smooth, not too tart, and not overly sweet. The only downside was that the extra ice made it difficult to stir. We also tried the Bird's Eye Latte, which was sweet, flavorful, and very enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who prefers sweeter coffee drinks. On our second visit, I ordered the Maple Harvest Cold Brew. Since it uses real maple syrup, it took some effort to mix thoroughly, and I didn't notice the maple flavor until after stirring. We also tried the matcha, which wasn't sweet and had the rich, earthy green tea flavor that I love. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great drink in Mackinaw City!
