Utterly uncomfortable & unhappy. This is a review for Footprints Yoga, located inside Ascent…read moreFitness. I purchased a Groupon for Footprints Yoga and was excited to learn a different style of Yoga. I had been going to another studio in Denver and I love it. I didn't realize that this yoga studio was located inside a small gym (directly off the freeway). If you decide to go, please note you'll need to drive past it, turn down a street, go through an alley, then drive through the Sherman-Williams parking lot to get to the place. It doesn't say Footprints Yoga anywhere on the building either, just Ascent Fitness. I entered and was greeted cheerfully and shown to the yoga studio. A tiny, tattooed young man apologetically told me he would be my instructor for the class and that the most important thing I needed to do right away was fill out a consent form that relieved them of any legal responsibility if I got injured, (all without making eye contact with me). Then he scampered off to a corner in the studio to intently examine his smartphone. For the duration of my time there, he didn't make a single effort to engage me in any conversation, and his body language and demeanor indicated he would rather be anywhere else. I went to the locker room to change. Very nice, Ascent Fitness, you are the reason this review has two stars. Footprints gets zero. The locker rooms were clean and I loved that the keys were already in the locks and attached to a clothespin, brilliant! I came back to the studio, put my mat down and tried to get focused for class. The ambient noise from the gym in the next room was so loud I couldn't concentrate. That, and the yoga instructor kept dragging bags across the floor, and the personal trainers kept shouting "Five more pushups!" and in general the entire atmosphere was the opposite of the calm, nurturing, serene place I was craving. To top it all off, 6:15pm rolled around and I looked around and saw that I was the ONLY person in the class. I haven't felt so uncomfortable, so out of place, and so conspicuous in a long time. I couldn't take it anymore, and I left.

When I called him back, he expressed sincerity, and explained that they fixed the A/C, and he thought the problem had been solved. He apologized, and honestly that's pretty cool. I appreciate them reaching out, and making the upstairs much more comfortable in terms of air flow and cooling. Thank you, Daniel. :)

This is the most intense full body workout I have experienced compared to any other gym - period! I even did Crossfit consistently for six months and this doesn't compare. I thought maybe some of the other reviewers hadn't worked out much which is why this seemed so hard...nope I was wrong. Be ready for a seriously hard workout every single time. But you also leave class feeling super accomplished and ready to tackle any obstacles! The coaches are encouraging, upbeat and pay attention to form. It's a different workout every time so your body won't get used to any one movement. Now it's important to point out that even if you aren't mega fit it's ok! You can modify anything and take it at your own pace. It's not some crazy bro competitive atmosphere either, people are there to work on their personal goals and fitness - that's it! If you want to build muscle/lose weight, sign up for the free week stat. You're likely to get into the class even if your waitlisted FYI, just be good about checking your email! Parking is easy. Be sure to bring a water bottle and a small towel for sweat!

The instructors (Ryan and Cory) were welcoming to this newcomer and every day is different, so it was easy to jump in despite not being a regular. Each class involved multiple rounds of exercises targeting different body parts of the body utilizing free weights, body weight, other equipment like jump ropes and steps, and lots of cardio. It's not easy, but the classes really fly by! The instructors were motivating throughout and blasted music to keep up the energy. I went early in the morning and street parking was easy to find outside. They have some cubbies to put your stuff, as well as a water fountain, but don't expect too many other amenities like towels or showers.

It was my first time ever doing this type of exercise -- it was definitely different for me! Let's just say I'm not the most graceful and balanced dandelion and I laugh out loud when I see my bff thrusting her hips in the air on top of the exercise ball. I'm sorry, I'm a child. Moving on... + The space is open concept and when you walk in through the door, you see basically everything there is to the studio. It was smart to come dressed ready to go and to bring minimal items with me, as there is limited space and restrooms. There're some CUTE things for sale, as well as a child care area. + Glow in the dark isn't a usual thing for them, but it was cool. I don't feel like I had enough space on the floor (girl who I kicked in the face, if you are reading this, I'm sorry) but it's probably because it was a special class. The treats and sips afterwards were a really nice touch. + As for the workout itself, it was really different for me. The small, controlled movements were tough at times. Maybe I'm naive, but I was expecting to use the bar more. But I'm just a newbie, maybe one day we'll get there. Thanks for the free class Barre3!

I was first introduced to this place during a Yelp event but later continued coming to the center for a month because I won a free month through a raffle. It was hard for me to come out to classes since I was/am in a graduate program and I already had automatic membership to my apartment gym as well as an additional membership to my school gym but the trips I did make were absolutely worth it. This gym is small but effective. You know kettle bells are a good workout since the owner Shari is super fit and built. I wish I had arms like hers! She helps each member with their posture and form and makes sure that you are pushing yourself (but not to the point of danger). You get special attention and personal training with each class you go to because class sizes are never too big. There's a lot of kettle bell training as well as yoga and TRX training. Kettle bells really get you sore afterward so a yoga session following a kettle bell class is a nice treat. Prior to this class I had absolutely no experience with kettle bells. Now I am a definite advocate for them and have been incorporating them into my personal workout routines. Come here if you're looking to get fit in a nurturing learning environment with folks who really make you feel like you're part of a team.
