She's a doctor...totally into improving her gut health and the whole functional medicine thing and she wanted to check out this joint. The hostess warmly greeted us and encouraged us to check out their quick service area in the back that's more coffeehouse and less restaurant. She said they have a juice bar and my eyes lit up! Upon walking to the back, we took in the beautiful decor and noticed a little alcove where a few folks had setup their mobile offices for the day. Such a gorgeous place to work...definitely beats Starbucks and Panera as far aesthetics. It's got several gluten-free offerings...vegan offerings...veggie offerings...basically, everybody can eat here. The princess of Chicago, Oprah, even vouches for this place! Their brownie has been included on her 'Favorite Things' list...and lucky you, there's a check in goodie - you can grab one for free! SCORE! There a cooler with take home meals ready to grab and go. Perfect for the busy professional or the parent who doesn't have time to cook before soccer practice. There were several goodies on display on top of the counter that looked delicious, but they weren't covered! Very European. And that was cool when I lived abroad, but I'm not so comfortable with that stateside. With the doors open, I'm sure there were flying friends in there. That was a hard pass for me. I decided to try the Hot Shot...a freshly pressed juice drink made with jalapeño and turmeric and fruit/veggie juices. But....the barista said she'd just cleaned the machine and closed the juice bar. Ugh!!!! Apparently, the juice bar closes at 3. Who knew? Definitely not the hostess...I had to debit them a star for getting my hopes up and then crushing my dreams. My friend grabbed some tuna salad that had some different ingredients. It looked amazing! I don't do mayo, so I didn't try it. We sat in the little alcove and had the most delightful time. I am leaving a two rating based on my past experiences for the most part being decent. My experience last night was one of the biggest customer experience debacles I've experienced in a while. My wife and I had reservations for VD weekend and were provided a nice table. Unfortunately that was the highlight of the dinner. From there, we waited over five minutes before anyone greeted us or checked in. While that in itself isn't a big deal, it fits with the overall experience. After our waiter arrived, we ordered an IPA and ordered our meal. My wide ordered the Saturday chicken sandwich special and I ordered the BLT burger, cooked medium rare. The burger came out well done, which was disappointing but the waiter said he would take it back. Unfortunately the waiter got confused and brought the same burger back cooked even more well done. (Meanwhile my wife had her meal for about ten minutes). Then the waiter said he would get a new burger cooked medium rare, but five minutes later a burger came out that wasn't the burger I ordered. #smh Then he brought another burger out and after cutting it, it was well done. At that point, my wife was done with her meal. The waiter then told us we wouldn't be charged for the meal, which I never ate. After which we expressed our disappointment and he told us there wouldn't be a charge. I realize poor experiences happen once in a while but this one was next level. We saw the manager on staff who was standing by the hostess stand and mentioned what happened. He apologized but we left wondering why he didn't help manage the situation in the first place. read more

However, the server didn't come up to us once we were seated for about 15 minutes. We had to ask where they were. I got the salad with salmon and a side of fries. Everything was really delicious! Salad was well dressed and salmon was cooked to perfection. The fries had a sauce to it that I enjoyed. It was a creamy aioli. Once we ordered the food came super fast. read more

My review is a bit overdue. My wife and I came here for brunch. I ordered the burger on their menu and a latte. The burger was really good. This is a place that you can tell takes pride in having all their ingredients fresh. I ordered my burger medium, the way I like it. My burger was cooked to perfection. The fries that came with the burger were really good as well. They were served with this sauce on the side. It was so amazing that I had to call the server over and ask what was in it. The server replied and said it was a "artichoke aioli". It stole the show for me and made having my fries an even better experience. My latte was very good as well. It was served in a very interesting and artsy mug. It was very unique. Moveable Feast is casual but has an upscale feel to it. The establishment is sleek and is white throughout. It felt and looked very clean. It's spacious and has room for couples and saw a few tables with larger groups. The only negative that I would say is that my wife and I were seated on time yet saw plenty other customers seated after us and served before us. The server came and went, checked on and served other customers. I had to call him over and ask about our meals. It took a while but I will say the food made up for the wait. I would just encourage management to ensure customers are being checked on or updated on the status of their meals. Moveable Feast is definitely worth trying if you live in the area. I hate to disagree with the glowing reviews but my experience left me in a very different place. First, the good: fries with artichoke aioli were fabulous. Would definitely order again. The chocolate cherry cupcake was also superb. But that's where it stopped. The Avocado BLT Burger was possibly the most tasteless burger I've ever had - with the exception of the bacon which was delish. Meat had no salt or seasoning and the rest of the elements were pretty tasteless as well. Flourless chocolate cake was awful - hard, dense (and not in a good flourless chocolate cake way), strange un-chocolate flavor with runny, tasteless frosting. I truly didn't know flourless chocolate cake could be so horrible. Could barely cut it with a knife. Perhaps it was stale - I don't know. Service was mediocre at best; server was polite but we were ignored most of the evening. To sum it up - they hit it out of the ballpark on some items and the rest were a swing and a miss. This is a great brunch spot! They have a different selection of foods that you would normally find but all is yummy ! I would recommend looking at the menu before going to make sure they have what you like . The atmosphere is decorated so nicely and has fun additions such as a photo booth and bubbly bar! Honestly if I could give this place 100 stars I would. After stumbling upon them online in search of healthy restaurants that have options for those with allergies, I had to try them out. Not only are they farm to table, which is a win for our family who eats mostly organic, but they have lots of healthy options for the whole family. Every time we go we remind them of my allergies and they double check with the chef to ensure I'm good to go! And go I can honestly eat a lot off the menu despite not being able to eat dairy or eggs. Also, the bar is a spot you have to grab a drink too. Old Fashioned is a favorite of ours and there's only one other spot in the burbs that is comparable. Moveable Feast definitely wins! All the cocktails we've tried though are just as yummy. The vibes in here are great too! The modern decor and the downtown Chicago feel without the drive wins us over for majority of our date nights. During COVID lockdown the take home meals saved us so many times! They still do grab n go and when I don't want to cook, these are the best! The staff is phenomenal and it's locally owned- we've never had a bad experience here with service. Friendly, accommodating and clean. The menu was limited so we were pleasantly surprised to learn similar to the Geneva location, there is a refrigerated case of dishes in the back. We both chose to stick to our Geneva roots and get the "3 salad plate" for around $13 or so. We were happy with the food. The service was fine, though a bit confusing. The folks in the back told us we could order our salad plates with our server. Our server thought we ordered at the back counter. Unless we had asked about the back area, I don't think we would've been told it was there by the host/server. And there was a different seating area in the back by the food case and the person working the counter there made it sound like we were encouraged to sit there, but we already had a table in the front. Moveable Feast is a GREAT addition to the Wheaton dining scene. I think they just have a few kinks to work out and then things will be running more smoothly. From the second I walked in, I was OBSESSED. The aesthetic, the attention to detail, every last design choice is flawless at Moveable Feast + Co... (even in the bathrooms!! lol) The food is INCREDIBLE too. So often you leave a restaurant (especially breakfast places) feeling a bit lethargic or it was too heavy... But at MF the food left me feeling ENERGIZED and satiated in the absolute best way. Everything tastes fresh, healthy, and balanced. I would not change a single thing, and my friends that I went there with 100% feel the exact same way. If that wasn't enough, the staff (at the Wheaton location) were absolutely fabulous. Had breakfast there yesterday at my friend's recommendation and was grateful she took me there. The owners are extremely pleasant and chat with customers, their staff is equally friendly and great service. I had billionaire's bacon which is fried and coated with a light flavored syrup. Extremely delicious! I had sweet potato wedges and roasted tomato. It came with an egg which I may omit next time because the bacon, wedges and tomato were plenty and I brought some home. The brunch menu is not overwhelming and had the perfect balance of choices. My brunch date had the avocado toast and said it was probably the best she's ever experienced. Fair warning, we had one 'coffee' drink and one entree each and spent $25 with tax and tip EACH. HOWEVER, I don't mind when the quality, quantity and experience is this good. A fantastic lunch at a reasonable price, Moveable Feast gets bumped to the top of the "next date" list. I had to work remotely and spend the day in Wheaton. This means working out of Five and Hoek's, but for lunch I'm looking for something a little more substantial. This was both substantial and special. It's bright and clean on the inside; white marble tabletops are apparently "in" these days, so that was nice. There also appears to be a fully functioning photo booth in the restaurant. Unless the night hours have gotten a heck of a lot wilder in downtown Wheaton, I'm not really sure *why*. Anyway, I looked the lunch menu up and down. Normally I would get something breakfast-y but by this point I'd had something close to 10 eggs in the previous two days, so... salmon burger it was! The burger came with a side of fries that were crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, salted a touch, and served with some bonus avocado (?) aioli, a.k.a. fancy mayonnaise. I was a fan; even better, the burger was served with a thick, healthy slab of perfectly cooked salmon. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes, a couple of pieces of soft cheese and more aioli rounded out the burger perfectly. Service was friendly and timely, which is sort of to be expected during a weekday lunch, but I still appreciated it. Some of the other stuff on the menu looked interesting, particularly the waffles. Super disappointing. Many of the staff members including what I assume is the owner/manager (salt and pepper shaggy hair, a hat, and glasses) wasn't wearing a mask and would repeatedly go back into the kitchen where another unmasked COOK wasn't wearing his mask. As we were leaving, another table got seated next to us NOT 6 feet apart. Not to mention, it was 100% a group of unrelated people. Like, cmon. I am also a vegan and I had called before going to make sure they could make their vegetarian options vegan. I also asked multiple times while ordering, and when my food arrived to make sure it was vegan. My plate had dressing on it that was not vegan, and since I hate wasting food I just didn't eat it and decided to take the rest home for my non-vegan family members. Beyond the fact that the staff clearly doesn't understand what vegan means, this restaurant is 100% not following any sort of COVID guidelines. I am planning on taking further action and writing to the Wheaton City/Village. This place shouldn't be allowed to be open. Would avoid like the plague. No pun intended. read more

Trendy restaurant with lovely drinks! Definitely has a city feel to it. Lots of seating space here. While it can get noisy in the evenings, it's much calmer and quieter during the day. Based on the inventive menu, I really wanted to love this place. However, nearly everything that could go wrong did. We had a reservation for a Friday evening. Entered the restaurant and was promptly seated in the back on the other side of a wall. We waited for 15 minutes without any interaction (no greeting, no waters etc). Went back to the host stand and was told that a server would be by shortly. Perhaps no one could see us sitting behind a wall? We finally placed our drink orders, as well as three items to share between the two of us. The server told us she'd bring water by but it would be awhile as there were no glasses at this point because they were all in the dishwasher. (How can that be?) During this time we switched out a wobbly table on our own. Our drinks were delivered. My dining companion ordered a weihenstephaner hefe weissbier. Instead received an Allagash White. We explained this to our server and she insisted the Allagash White was the same thing (it's not). We did notice the two beers are next to each other on the menu and decided to just stick with it. But also noticed the expiration date of 9/21/20 (we were there on 4/9/21). Ugh old beer. Our food arrived and we were ready to put our bad initial experience behind us and dig in. We ordered the bacon wrapped plums, the baked cheese and the lettuce wraps. The presentation was nice. However, all three dishes were cold. So we ate our cold dinner (it was flavorable but cold). Throughout our server was running behind - we were not the only table to experience poor service. Tables sat waiting for drinks, water, to place orders. She thanked us for our patience but honestly all of these issues could've been fixed with a better attention to detail. No fault to the kitchen at all but we won't be returning. read more

I love farm to table places and this place was delicious! I got from here for my birthday and we took out and went to a nice forest preserve to eat. There aren't a ton of vegetarian options but some good ones and sadly one of them wasn't available the one day I wanted it. Oh well the options they did have were delicious and healthy and just the way I like it with herbs and a mix of different flavors and ingredients in one dish. The drinks were fresh and interesting. The cookies were vegan gluten free and awesome. The reason I'm not giving 4 stars is because we ordered a salad that normally has bacon on it without the bacon. I asked twice over the phone and even again in person when picking it up to make sure there wasn't bacon and they assured me that there absolutely wasn't bacon. Usually I don't even ask this many times and assume they get it and I don't want to be annoying. I must have sensed something because we go drive to the forest preserve, get situated, open it up and...there's bacon! A ton of bacon actually. I was very angry at this as I'm a vegetarian and it was even my birthday. So please make sure to pay attention. I'm not pleased with this. There should be more vegetarian salads to begin with. So the place looked neat and country upscale inviting atmosphere and the concept and food was great except seriously don't say with absolute confidence there's no bacon when there is. Really I give this 3.5 stars. I wanted to rate it higher but honestly it has a couple issues that drag it down. Issue #1 - it is way too loud. All hard surfaces that amplify the noise level. Many loud tables of women and children (not that there's anything wrong with that!) Issue #2 - salad was overdressed. Issue #3 - the pottery mugs have a rough finish that is unpleasant on the hand and lips. I know some will think this issue is ridiculous but it truly detracted from an otherwise great salt matcha latte. Otherwise, service was great and food otherwise well prepared. Guys, this is more of a "ladies" place in terms of the vibe and clientele. You've been warned. read more
