I've been training with Brian for six years now, and it has literally changed my life. At 42, I'm…read morestronger than I was at 32 or even 22, and I can confidently say I'm in the best shape of my life. As a woman, I've become increasingly aware of how important strength training is for maintaining muscle and bone density as we age. And for anyone afraid that lifting weights will make you "bulk up," fear not. I get compliments on my arms all the time, and I love feeling strong while still feeling feminine. The physical benefits have been incredible, but what I value even more is the mental strength and confidence I've gained. There's something empowering about knowing I'm actively taking care of my body for the future. When life throws something physical at me, my first thought is often, "I trained for this." I can lift heavy things safely and with proper form. I have better endurance, more energy, and even during busy periods when I can only make it to the gym once a week, I'm able to maintain the strength I've built. The money I've invested in personal training is genuinely one of the best investments I've ever made. Six years later, I can see and feel the return every single day. The culture of the gym is an incredibly positive, welcoming environment filled with people of all ages, backgrounds, body types, and fitness levels, and Brian is the furthest thing from the stereotypical "meathead" trainer. He's thoughtful and intentional in his approach, genuinely invested in the people he trains, and simply a great person to be around. I'm incredibly grateful to Brian for his guidance, knowledge, consistency, and for helping me become stronger than I ever thought I could be. If you're considering investing in personal training, especially as you get older, do it. Your future self will thank you.

I think I've earned the right to give the first review for Cypress Fitness, as I have left quite a…read morebit of sweat there over the past four and a half months since they've opened. I had been doing kickboxing training with Brian for over a year at another gym when he told me that he and a business partner, Brandon, were opening their own gym on Tchoup. So I followed him there and have been taking TRX, Kettlebell, and various other cardio and circuit training classes pretty regularly. TRX is something that everyone in NOLA who likes to eat, but does not like being fat, should get into. It is effective for everyone from frail grannies to muscled-up ex-navy seals (who developed the system). Drew Brees endorses it (and uses it), so that alone should convince you to try it. Kettlebell training with Brandon will make you strong. Not stare-at-your-arms-in-the-mirror-while-you-do-curls strong, but real functional strength. No machines, just your body moving itself and an object in dynamic, natural movements with your core and stabilizing muscles working the whole time. I was trying to think of an adequate metaphor/simile to describe the results I've experienced from my training at Cypress, and the best I could come up with was "These abs! I look like a white D'Angelo circa 'Untitled (How does it feel).'" Is that too obscure an early '00s R&B video reference? Maybe. Suffice it to say that the trainers at Cypress Fitness will motivate you to get in great shape, in a completely judgment-free, supportive, accessible and fun environment. This is not a chain-franchise-Anytime-Riviera gym -- it is a gym run by people who care about your health, designed for people who want to achieve their better selves.

They bring new work outs to every class, which keeps it fun, interesting and fresh. They combine stretching, core work, cardio, and strength into every boot camp class. There are numerous classes every day at multiple locations, so it's easy to fit it into schedule. The work outs are scaleable so they are great for any fitness level - pro to beginner. They combine classic moves like push ups, sit ups, and squats with jump rope, burpees and kettle bell swings to engage the full body. Chelsey and Shane do a great job of making people feel welcome and creating a community. They share additional online work outs to add to your routine - at no additional cost. They also share healthy recipes, community events, local races, and monthly challenges to keep everyone working towards their goals. I highly recommend GGB!

You'll see every body type and age group working out with you. You'll see women bring their pups and their kids to class (never in a distracting way; but rather i appreciate seeing this because it means that no matter what they WANT you there and for nothing to stand in-between bettering yourself). I can come to class with cat hair on my yoga pants and not feel like i'm being judged. Which in my life working from home, this is a priority. There are multiple different class times and locations to choose from every week day. You don't have to sign up yearly and can go month-to-month which was a big bonus to me since i work seasonally out of state for a few months of the year. You will work harder and push yourself more than you ever could on your own because you are surrounded by women that are not going to quit. That means you can't quit. Chelsey and Shane make sure to walk you through the new exercises and they look out for you and your form. If you have a preexisting injury, they will help choose alternate exercises for you. I've always been more of a runner/pilates type person and crossfit dream baes intimidated and slightly confused me. But here i am friggin' jumpin' rope, doing burpees, whirling kettlebells around and am now bringing in all my groceries in one trip because i'm getting STRONGER. These classes are so worth it. Come join us! Bonus points if you suck at jumping rope. You can come stand by me!

He is very proactive and responsive with scheduling sessions. He consistently pushed me to work harder in our sessions - I was able to bench/squat/deadlift way more weight than I expected. I felt confident pushing harder and going to failure on the sets because he was there to help if I got stuck during the lift. Eduardo also gave me great advice on nutrition, supplements, and equipment to help with training. When I sprained my ankle, Eduardo adjusted our sessions to accommodate it. We switched to circuit-style training and I still made strength progress and beat my one-rep max weights. Eduardo is also very pleasant to talk with and I appreciate learning about his vast experience in the world of strength training and body building. I would recommend anyone to work with him to reach their goals!

I used to be a part of a commercial gym prior to joining PFRX. It was one of those gems that were always clean, had a nice inexpensive monthly rates, and many many machine options. The problem for me was, that every time I went, I had to wait a turn or alter my workout due to the lack of availability of machines. I found that when I would be able to work out I had to somewhat rush myself through my workout because people would always ask me how many more reps do I have left. So I begin to venture out and look for another gym home one that could accommodate all of my needs. That is what PFRX has done for me. There are friendly and knowledgeable staff during staffing hours, location is always clean, if I have any questions on how to use a machine properly during staff hours, someone is happy to help me. They have trainers available. And most importantly for me, they aren't as crowded as your commercial gyms, which allows me the access to mini machines, and to be able to get a workout in without someone asking am I using this machine or how many reps do I have left? For me, those are huge factors! Now, yes, this is not a commercial gym and the price is very reasonable when you are investing in your health and wellness. I am truly enjoying my time at PFRX and I am really looking forward to our relationship in the coming years. Oh wait! I didn't mention the variety of machines and services they have. Wanna know, book your tour! You won't be disappointed.

My journey began when I finally couldn't stand the arthritis pain in my knees that was keeping me from doing anything fun, sometimes even just getting off the couch. I'd fallen a couple of times and had no energy. By a pure miracle, I walked into Anytime Fitness Freret, and met Eric Capers, head trainer and owner of Pro Fitness Trainers. Eric is a physical therapist as well as a personal trainer, and I trusted that he had the knowledge I needed to make progress without injury, so I signed on. Little by little, learning every day, I got stronger, restored my balance, and was able to walk longer distances. Four years later, by consistent work, paying attention to food (not starving, not stuffing), I have lost 40 pounds, dropped my LDL cholesterol by 45 points, walked in three 5k events and the Crescent City Classic 10k (what????) and my doctor says I've added at least five years to my life. I'm 75 now, planning on lots more. If you've been thinking about it, putting it off, getting down on yourself, call Eric and get a free fitness assessment. You can't go wrong. I bought the 12-session package and I'm currently halfway through - we've been working out for 3 weeks so far and I've definitely been seeing some changes. I got a trainer because I wanted to maximize the efficiency of my workouts (instead of just doing 30 min on the elliptical by myself and wondering why I'm not seeing any changes) and it has definitely paid off. also, I LOVE the ease of scheduling appointments with him, it's all online and I'll get a text reminder sent to me a day before our scheduled workout. After the first couple of workouts I was so sore, but I can definitely tell that I'm getting stronger and more toned.
