Anyways, once you are past that, it feels like stepping back in time--but with upgraded amenities and machines, of course. But I just absolutely adore the historic atmosphere. There are antique weights in a mini-museum in one of the large fitness rooms, the walls lined with vintage gym bro photos (I didn't see any muscle mamis tho...), and even a crystal chandelier! But like I mentioned, the amenities are all updated. There's a good-sized pool, both a sauna and steam room, and a nice sized locker room. The locker room has a bathing suit dryer! My favorite surprise was the cafe/lounge/bar area that's suitable for working, studying, reading, etc. They even have a women-only machine room--love that thoughtful, inclusive touch. You know what New Orleans doesn't have enough of? Tracks. Luckily, NOAC has an indoor track for those who don't like treadmills. They also have a jam-packed group fitness schedule that included improv and acting classes on Wednesday nights--where else do you find that at a gym?! It's probably an extra fee though. They have a Pilates reformer studio that isn't included in membership, apparently. Although it's in the quarter/downtown, they have plenty of nearby parking lots for members. I came on a buddy pass (you only get 6 a year), but my friend mentioned that members can bring their spouses for free on weekends. Only small downside: towels cost $1.50, but honestly, just bring your own. I am so tempted to join!

5 Stars "This place is like stepping into a fitness time…read moremachine -- in the BEST way!" I loved working out here! The New Orleans Athletic Club isn't just a gym -- it's a whole vibe. From the second you walk in, it feels like old-school charm meets modern-day motivation. The building itself is gorgeous -- think chandeliers, brick walls, and history dripping from every dumbbell. The weight room? Massive. The cardio section? Plenty of options. The pool? Stunning and feels like something Gatsby would've done laps in. And don't even get me started on the boxing ring -- I half-expected to see Rocky training in the corner. There's even a Turkish bath. Yes, a Turkish bath -- where else are you gonna find that? The people were super friendly, and there was this kind of unspoken camaraderie in the air -- everyone's working hard but also vibing with the beauty of the space. I got a killer workout and a mini history tour all in one. If you're in New Orleans and want to sweat in style -- this is the spot. 10/10 will be back (probably sore but smiling).

Covering 1300 acres, it is one of the largest urban parks in the US. Bike trails, walking trails, museums, restaurants, sculpture gardens, botanicals gardens and an amusement park for kids. What more could you want? Love art? Check out NOMA. This is often on my agenda. Love the rotating exhibits, Newcomb pottery and collection of impressionist paintings. I use my Graycliff annual pass for reciprocal admission fees. Bonus: One of my besties works here! Want art outdoors? The newly expanded sculpture garden is so beautiful and free to explore. Frank Stella. Yaacov Agam. Beverly Pepper. Take a photo with LOVE by Robert Indiana. Don't sit on Bear with Us by Frank Gehry. Feel free to walk across the Mississippi Meaders Bridge. Take a selfie in the Mirrors Labyrinth. Love to talk a walk here. Sorry, GiGi. No dogs allowed. Love flowers? If you are lucky, you may see tulips or wildflowers. Or visit the New Orleans Botanic Garden. It's also included on the Graycliff Martin annual reciprocal pass. The garden is filled with azaleas, camellias and beds of roses. Love the native Louisiana raised vegetable beds and the butterfly garden. Sit under the oaks on a park bench or a swing to take a rest. Like art? Explore the large collection of Enrique Alfarez sculptures spread throughout the garden. Hungry? Thirsty? This is the best place to visit Cafe du Monde. No lines and the parking is free and so much easier than the quarter. Order a cafe au lait or a hot chocolate with a plate of beignets. Then grab a table with a green umbrella outside to enjoy the sunshine and the famous oak trees in the park. City Park has one of the largest collections of Live Oak trees in the world. Have a kid? Or just feel like a kid? Storyland is so cute! Created by Mardi Gras float makers, it is a New Orleans classic full of whimsy. Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Mother Goose. It is filled with fairy tale and nursery rhyme classics. Fun fact: New Orleans City Park is one of the largest parks in the US. At 1,300 square acres it is almost twice as large as New York's Central Park which is just a little over 800 square acres and does not make the top twenty for size. (But Central Park is still amazing, too!) Parking is free. Or come by streetcar. It stops near NOMA. Thanks for the free flowers on the first day of spring.

It's very relaxing and a huge plus that you don't have to go far to feel surrounded by nature. There's always plenty of space and you can easily find a place to sit and unwind. I'm not sure if he still works here, but Brandon Rousseve is definitely an amazing personal trainer and baseball player! Anyway, I've been wanting to check it out since about 2011 when I heard the jaw-dropping words "indoor batting cages." What could be better than an indoor place to play your favorite sports during our hot and humid summers? Of course, it would be even better if I had come when I could actually PLAY one of these sports; unfortunately, my injured wrist won't be permitting that anytime soon. Besides batting cages they have a baseball diamond, basketball courts, an indoor volleyball court, free weights, and a concession stand just to name a few things. From what I can see, it looks like they have some weight machines on the second floor. I'm guessing this might come with one of their fitness packages. Big Easy Sportsplex is definitely one of New Orleans' hidden gems. It's a great play to play indoors with a very fair price that won't break the bank. Thank you to the person who decided to create this great place! I can't wait to come enjoy it when my wrist is healed. In the meantime, I'll sit back, drink my icee, and watch my friends. I met Josh Tolbert towards the end of the night, and he gave me a mini tour. Thanks, Josh!

Only nearby lights are on the Lafitte Greenway and do not extend to the grass area next to the pathway. Super close the French Quarter RV Park. There are some beautiful large old oak trees in the park that offer shade from that intense summer sun. About three blocks away sits the Lemann Pool which can help you cool off even more(if it's open). I've found the hours of operation to be limited despite the many months of stagnant summer heat.
