I moved here from San Diego a few weeks ago, and just started going to Audubon Yoga. In San Diego I went to Corepower, which is a Vinyasa style yoga, while Audubon Yoga is a Iyengar yoga studio.
Becky was my instructor for both classes that I've taken. She was very thorough throughout the class, showing how to do the pose, adjusting students as necessary, and explaining how the positions improve or alleviate pain in certain areas of the body. In just one class, I realized I had been holding a few of my poses incorrectly which could negatively impact my hips, knees, spine, and feet over time! Corepower never explained these things; they may not have even known. Audubon Yoga's instructors are VERY knowledgeable and helpful.
If you're looking for a studio where you can increase your strength, balance, and flexibility, and KNOW you're holding the positions correctly - in a way that will enhance your body, not hurt it over time - then I highly recommend this studio. It's a great studio to learn the poses, take a couple classes each week, and continue practicing at home. In just a couple classes, I've already seen improvement. I'm looking forward to standing on my head without the aid of a wall soon. :) read more
