I've been keeping up with my gym schedule but, I randomly decided to switch up my routine and schedule a Pilates class late at night for 8AM the next morning lol. When I went online there were a few options to choose from which was great to say it was so last minute! Annie was the instructor for the megaformer blast class and she was so sweet and helpful! She took the time to explain everything to me before hand (they tell you to come early if it's your first time) and she took time in between to correct and direct me while teaching when needed. Overall, the staff was pleasant and it was clean, equipped and just an overall nice environment. I like their options for classes and scheduling--even the prices are reasonable, so I'll for sure be booking again soon. read more

I signed up for a yoga class because friends invited me - and this studio was the worst I've ever experienced. Facility is obviously past its prime, run down, dirty, smells bad (very strong stinky feet smell when you climb the many floors of stairs up to the hot yoga studio), dirty floors, many broken and stained ceiling tiles and much more. Romney needs to step up its game. very much the worst (dirty) yoga experience in New Orleans and anywhere else including Africa and Europe. read more

Absolutely LOVE my first couple of experiences at Romney this past week. As a barre instructor myself, I was so excited to try out the unique class types Romney had to offer! I came with my boyfriend's sister who frequents Romney, and she told me it was their newer location (1320 Magazine St). I was super stoked to see the BEAUTIFUL interior, high ceilings, and absolutely amazing natural lighting in the studios thanks to the floor to ceiling windows! *heart eyes emoji* Not to mention their cute neon lighting "High Vibes" mirror for photo ops. Big plus in my book! BOUNCE: My first class was 6am Bounce with Olivia. I felt pretty nervous prior to class because a trampoline fitness class is completely out of my comfort zone (but that's also why I wanted to try it lol). We checked in at the front, stashed our stuff into the open faced cubbies, grabbed a towel, and hand weights and went inside. The trampolines were set up already and class started right on time. Olivia's energy during class was awesome! The class was SO fun and not as scary as I expected. Tip: look in the mirror to see where you're jumping, it helps A LOT. Fun playlist. The class is split into sections on and off the trampoline. You have to try this class! PULSE: My second class was 8:30am Pulse with Audrey. I found out about Pulse through an instructor who also works at the barre studio franchise I work for. I was instantly intrigued by her pretty photos of the studio on her IG and thought it might be slightly similar to what I do so of course I had to try! SO glad I did. The class is heated (I think it gets up to 95° but it's totally doable), you use one or two sets of wrist/ankle weights optional of course, hand weights, and a yoga mat. The choreography was super fun and the playlist again was great! Tips: bring a big aluminum water bottle to keep your water cold throughout class + my Apple Watch did totally find through the heat/sweat lol. Audrey's vocal cues were on point and she had great energy as well. DEFINITELY coming back for more! Overall, love love LOVE Romney and so glad I was introduced to this beautiful studio. I live in San Francisco and come to New Orleans every couple of months so I will 10000% be back for more, plus I want to try out their other class types! I only did a few spin classes here when I was using ClassPass. Admittedly not the best class for beginners!! It was challenging, fast-paced, and a good workout! However - newbies beware - you'll need to change into their "special spin" shoes, so arrive early! The class could feel more accessible if we could wear our normal sneakers and also if some of the yelling into the microphone was cut out. read more

i stopped by for a class while i was back in town from school: i wanted to try the megaformer classes because i've never tried anything like it, and it was certainly an experience! the class was definitely difficult, more difficult than a regular reformer for sure. the instructor was great at helping me out and adjusting because it was my first time taking a class here. i will definitely be sore tomorrow. they have lockers, cubbies, and showers, free to use. overall a nice experience, the studio is beautiful. i want to come back to take a cycling class one day. read more

This has been the worst customer service and experience I have had at a fitness studio. I accidentally booked the day of instead of the following day. I immediately cancelled my class and went to rebook then was told since it was within 12 hours, they will charge me full price for the class and will not transfer it or give me a credit. After emailing them twice, they said "I'm sorry to hear that" don't mean to be a karen but these people suck so bad. read more

I'm obsessed with Romney! A friend told me about it a few months before I started going to their classes and I was disappointed with the pricing as it was out of my budget. Thankfully Romney is on ClassPass so I'm able to take classes there within by budget. I'm not knocking their pricing because I think the equipment, instructors, classes, and facilities are worth it. Every class that I've gone to has kicked my butt. I'm not a beginner and definitely not advanced but the day after every class I wake up sore and ready to go back for more! The studio itself is very posh and clean. The front desk attendants are always really welcoming and really knowledgeable. Romney is 5 studios in 1, offering cycling, boxing, BLAST, Megaformer, and mat yoga & Pilates classes... at least 150 classes per week which is great if you want a morning, mid day or evening class. read more

Being a studio owner myself for 15 years, I love to take class and visit other studios all around the US and world! I signed up for class and it's the cutest studio! They were welcoming and so sweet! It's right across Whole Foods and a blow bar so I got my hair done right after class! They have two rooms one for megareformer and one Classical side and I took the pilates class with samatha and she was awesome! Great cues and well informed on the body and modifications as there were older women with injuries in the class! Love this studio! Will be back for sure! read more

This studio is amaaazzzing. They have so many accommodations and the staff is the absolute friendliest. Everyone that goes here seems to be genuinely happy and are all welcoming. I feel like I was on the fence for so long bc of the price, but it is so worth it because of all they offer + the accommodations. They also offer a first time price so I would definitely take advantage of that. If you don't know which class you want to try, I recommend the megaformer. It works literally every single muscle you can imagine. read more

Romney is one of my favorite fitness studios in NOLA. If I only could go to one studio in town I would choose Romney. I love the pilates reformer classes here. I just wish they were on Classpass! I have tried the pilates mat classes and they are a little too easy for me. I like the spin classes here, though they can get really crowded and hot. The megaformer classes are good, a great workout. The studio itself is really bright and luxe. I especially appreciate the showers to use after taking classes before work. There is a great selection of classes here! read more

I decided to use my class pass to take the Megaformer class and I was in for a huge surprise. Lord that hurt my body! I felt very welcomed even though I was a discount gym goer and the reformer class kicked my butt. I was not prepared to sweat as much as a did, luckily there is a nice open bathroom (with shower) that one jump into to freshen up. I want to come back again to take the barre pulse class and will make sure I return soon! read more

This review is purely based on customer service, which should count for something at a "boutique" fitness club. It was god awful. Romney is a place that already feels inaccessible due to price-point, but combined with the generally made-up workout language (I asked for a Reformer class rather than MEGAformer, and how could I be so dumb as to confuse the two... ), Romney wasn't a pleasant experience. Maybe if I'd made it past the front desk, I'd have had a better time. I called ahead to see if there was room for their 1030am class. Yes, they said. I even explained how it was my first time there and a friend referred me (probably a good idea to pay attention to detail and keep my business by not messing up my first experience). I told her how online it said that class was waitlisted, but ok great, I'm glad it's available! She took my name and because her computer was on the fritz couldn't take any other info. I reserved what I thought was a mega former class at 1030am (thankfully I wasn't able to give my credit number at the time or else I'd have been charged). But when I show up, they made me feel like an idiot with every sentence that came out my and their mouths. First, they told me "there's no class at 1030am." How is that possible, I ask? I reserved a slot in the 1030am class... Then, they say "Well, there IS class but not the class you're referring to. You said Reformer...it's a MEGAformer class." When I repeated, "I signed up on the phone with someone who reserved my slot to a 1030am class. Reformer, MEGAformer, whatever. It was at 1030am." They retorted, "reformer and MEGAformer are totally different classes.." So after making me feel dumb about not using the correct boutique fitness reformer lingo, they then told me that in fact I had asked to sign up for the 10am Ride class. Which was totally not even close to true, since A) I wouldn't have been able to make that class and B) if we're being picky about words, the words Ride and Reformer don't even sound remotely similar. Anyway, as one of my friends walked into the studio and the other who was waiting for me upstairs came down, the front desk girls made no apology for the confusion or attempt to keep my business. That's enough to keep me away from recommending anyone to Romney. Get some new girls! read more

In order to diversify my workout, I have been checking out different studios around the city, and if I had to pick just one, it would be Romney! The studio is an absolutely gorgeous 3 story building with spin classes on the bottom floor, reformer and megaformer classes on the second floor, and boxing and mat pilates on the top floor. There is also a small parking lot (like fits 4 cars small), but the surrounding area has plenty of parking (and there's a Whole Foods across the street)! My first experience with Romney was a community mat pilates class, which was fine, but nothing to write home about. But I'm very glad that I did not judge the studio as a whole on that one class. More recently, I tried a boxing class with Santiago and a Megaformer class with Jon. They both could not have been better! Santiago was more than happy to go over basics with me and another student before class as well as help us put on our wraps and gloves. The class was challenging, but super fun and upbeat. I will definitely be returning. As for the the Megaformer class with Jon, that was probably the hardest workout of my life, but he not only helped with technique, but also was so encouraging (which I promise, you WILL need). I don't think I could have pushed myself that far without him. I will be back for that class as well, but need a few days to recover. Something else to note about this studio is how great the other clients are! At every class I have been to, someone has introduced themselves to me (and in the case of the Megaformer class) and given me tips once I told them I was a newbie. Overall, a beautiful studio with AMAZING instructors, my only critique for them would to be to come out with more student discounts ;) read more

I was really excited to encounter this place on MindBody when I was visiting NOLA. I love being a fitness tourist when I travel, and it was really appealing that they have so many different formats offered in one space. I went in for a Megaformer class, because I love Lagree and don't have it at home. Because I was taking a lyft, I got there barely at the moment the class started, so I take full responsibility for not getting any tour or big welcome, because they wouldn't have had time, and it's not like they were expecting me. That said, however, I found the instructor (Delphine) to be incredibly crass. I'm a fitness instructor, and I'm down with being chill and relaxed and fun, but you can do that while still maintaining a level of professionalism, and she did not achieve that. The building is a really cool space, though it's not that conducive to being able to take time after class because there's someone running into you because the cubbies are right at the stairs. There's also no signage, so I couldn't even find the bathroom until I poked around a bit. When you have a place that has so many different classes and a layout that was probably a house in the past and not a commercial building, you should really be thinking about that when you design it. read more

Terrible first time experience. Agree with other reviews that the front desk girls are ridiculously incapable. After I purchased my first class I received an exciting email for a great price on a few classes. They said it was limited time and I needed to respond within 24 hours. I did, and received a response from one of the front desk girls explaining that the email was automatically sent out to all first time members, and that I was ineligible for it because I purchased my first class at their first timer rate of $15. This was never mentioned in the email, nor disclosed to me when I signed up for my first class. Also, shouldn't the studio be aware of this and not send out an offer they are not willing to honor? They knew I was a first time customer and they should be able to see how much I spent on the first class. This is false advertising, and I was severely disappointed to learn that the next best offer they could give me was nearly TWICE the cost for the same number of classes. What?? BETTER YET, I then received an email that the front desk girl Rachel, had charged me for another full class THAT I NEVER PURCHASED. The receipt even has another woman's name on it. I called and explained I HAD NEVER PURCHASED THIS CLASS nor did I give permission for my card to be charged. Rachel explained that since we had spoken on the phone earlier about the fake offer, she had my account pulled up and "accidentally" charged me. Glad I caught it. Super disappointed that this was how a new customer was received by Romney. They are money vultures and utilize false advertising with fake promises of rates they will then come up with a reason you are ineligible for. read more

I was in NO and needed to get a spin class in so I read the reviews and tried this studio. I will start by saying that I spin at least 5x per week and this was the worst class that I have ever taken. If I were new to this type of workout, I wouldn't try it again.....the studio is very congested and confusing. As a person who has never been here before it would be nice if someone gives direction i.e. are there lockers, where's the restroom, which studio the class will be held in. Just an FYI there were no lockers, you put your things under a bench, dude really? For these prices THERE SHOULD BE LOCKERS FOR CLIENTS TO USE. I actually took my wallet in the studio and put it under my bike because I refused to leave it out in the open. I could have moved past the space and lack of lockers but once in class it took me about 5 minutes to flag someone down to help with the seat adjustments, again really? The class!!!!!!WHATTTTT, I was so upset/disappointed with this spin class. The instructor (don't know his name) needs to be retrained, I felt like he was a hype man and we were in the club...there was absolutely no direction given on what moves to do or an explanation of what position is what for new riders. My sister was with me and had never taken a spin class before and I had to explain how to change intensity etc. on the bike because the instructor didn't. A great class rides as a pack and there was absolutely no unity in the class, no one kept up with him because they were confused. I'm just going to say if you're looking for a great spin/cycling class this is not it...this was a disappointment, the only positive things about the experience are the Whole Foods across the street, free shoes and $1 water...oh yeah, why are your clients cleaning their own bikes when you charge $300 a month for classes, get it together read more

I have been wanting to try Romney out since I moved to New Orleans. I'm super glad I did. The studio itself is clean and bright. There are 3 floors- one for Spinning, the second for Reformer and Megaformer classes, and the third for various classes like TRX, Barre and Bosu. I'm not a huge fan of spinning, but I really like how they turn on the blacklights and disco ball and you're just up in there getting sweaty. I kinda feel like I'm at a club when I'm really just sweating a lot and getting a great cardio workout. They have "theme rides" on the weekends, so you can rock out to 80's music if that's your thing, or party with Beyonce and Jay-Z. They rent shoes for free at the front desk. My favorite classes are the Megaformer and the Reformer. If you have never tried these kinds of workouts, prepare to work really hard! I was nervous about going to my first class because I had never done it before and the machines kinda look like torture devices. They have intro classes so you can get familiar with the classes and the teachers are friendly and patient with you. You will be sore for days and see your body change, fast! I'm hooked. My favorite instructors are Melanie, Jill, Brenna, Sam and Jon... You can tell they are all super knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. Minus one star: the price tag-- I usually prefer to buy monthly unlimited packages at fitness studios, because it forces me to go...350$/month is pretty steep. But I love the workouts, the instructors are fabulous, and my a** is starting to look great.... read more

I have been a member for over a year but the studio has gone downhill recently. I have had multiple classes cancelled on me just hours before they were set to begin. The Uptown location has dropped many of their evening class times and the ones they do offer often are cancelled . Overall I am waiting for my membership to expire and then going somewhere else. Sad that this is happening to a gym I used to love. read more

The good: Julia's megaformer class is the BEST class. I can't move for days after it AND it's fun. TRX is also good. The building is cute and across from Whole Foods. I didn't sweat a ton, but I definitely could feel myself getting sore. Megaformer classes will kick you into shape if you do them a lot. The needs improvement: I'm usually a huge fan of spin classes, but I thought Romney's spin was a little weak. It wasn't very upbeat and I felt as though I could listen to my own music and ride a bike. I like choreographed spin where it's more than just pedaling. The parking nearby is hard to find so plan for that. read more

This studio is definitely one of the nicest in town. It is probably more on par with NYC or LA in that regard. Always clean and the most updated equipment. I have only had good instructors for every class, I've tried barre, megaformer and spin. Every single class has been hard as hell and left me sore for days. They lose one star for the really high price point (although I appreciate that they now participate in Classpass which helps) and the inconvenience of the parking situation. read more

I was in town for one week for work - visiting from Los Angeles - and made a single visit to this studio for Delphine's reformer class. I LOVED IT. I wish I could transport Romney back to LA! Delphine was very helpful, making corrections where needed, and I left the class feeling a little bit stronger and nicely stretched. I highly recommend taking a class here! read more

Romney is amazing!!! The best Pilates reformer studio in New Orleans hands down. This studio taught me to love the reformer. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but if you drive down Arabella you'll find a spot. It's beautifully decorated, calm, and tranquil. I love the reformer classes with Gretchen or Sam, and I've taken boxing with Santiago that kicked my butt! Romney has a wide variety of classes at all hours of the day, but I'm a Pilates addict so I stuck to the reformer classes! Gretchen is WONDERFUL, she makes awesome modifications, keeps the class fun, and really gives one on one attention. Five stars for Romney, I'll always come back when I'm in town. read more

I have been to this studio almost 2-3 days a week for the past a year and thoroughly love it! Brandon Nelson is a fantastic spin instructor. If you are looking for an intensive spin/workout, go with Brandon. I have been to soul cycle in New York and flywheel in Chicago and I believe this studio is better than both of these. I am happy to have such a fantastic studio so close by to my house here! Would highly recommend it. read more

I loooooove Romney Pilates! I love the studio! It's ecofriendly and the way it's decorated is really cool. Overall it's just such a relaxing atmosphere. I usually take the Intermediate Mat Class. It's $120 for 10 sessions which I think is a great price. I love the instructors. Some are better at giving individualized feedback but they are all great (Kyra is the BEST). The beginner classes are great for those just starting out. Again, wish all the instructors were as good as Kyra at correcting your form and giving feedback. I also really love their cushy mats :) I've also tried their new PULSE class which is amazing! Such a good workout! They fill up very quickly which is my only complaint. I think they are working on opening up new class times. I've also tried the classes with the Pilates machines which were amazing, too. They are more expensive (just like they would be at any other studio) and have a smaller class size. One more small complaint: I always wanted to try their Ballet Barre class but they cancelled it every week because not enough people would sign up. They have now permanantly cancelled the class. I'm not sure anyone ever got a chance to try the class to gain interest. I used to do ballet and was super excited about the class so needless to say I was disappointed they cancelled it. I love Romney Pilates! I've always had a great class every time I go. The instructors are reallly good (especially at kicking my butt!) and I've never left without being drenched in sweat and my muscles aching. I've only been to their pulse barre classes, and love them.. but they also have pilates with their machines as well as on the mat. I haven't tried those (yet!) but I have friends who have and love it. It's definitely a must for anyone who wants to get trim fast! read more

I took a class here a few weeks ago when in town for a visit. I took "Pulse" which was fine, not a great workout and a little all over the place, but fine when traveling and needing to move. But it was how dirty the studio was that threw me off. There was more hair on the floor than in a hair salon and the weights were ratty and filthy. When we went down to floor exercises I wanted to die, it was just gross. The ceiling tiles were stained and falling, there were stains on the walls. C'mon, people. read more

I agree with the reviewer here who wrote about how the "front desk girls" at Romney Pilates were "god awful." I had EXACTLY the same experience, only worse. My review is based solely upon my front desk experience, and not on the instructors. Also, this is only based upon ONE particular woman-- usually, there are two. But on the day I had the nerve to seek some customer assistance, there was only one "front desk girl"-- and she was a monster. The young woman at the desk was incompetent, uninterested in answering my questions, snippy, obnoxious, completely unhelpful and exceptionally rude. She then became abusive when I persisted in trying to get information and help. I've never had such an experience at any health club-- ever. At Romney, I bought a month-long "membership" for $350 that was advertised as being "unlimited." But when I tried to take a third lesson one day, Romney's desk girl said that "unlimited lessons" meant "only two lessons" a day. She then began to argue with me about how the word "unlimited" did NOT really mean "unlimited!" She implied I was ignorant for thinking that "unlimited" means more than two. I also signed up for Romney classes online but then received emails from "front desk girls" that, in one case, there was no such class at the time-- even though when I registered, the class was clearly listed. When I tried to cancel classes online, they were similarly unhelpful-- even though Romney charges you for missing a class in their "unlimited" program. In response to the several situations I had with scheduling, the Romney front desk girl responded in a scoffing manner stating that I had obviously made an error-- even though their incompetence was clear. Scheduling itself is difficult because the studio building itself is small and cramped, so classes are exceptionally small. When the schedule goes online for the next few days, signing up online becomes a free-for-all. The solution is to go down in person and try to solve the problem, right? Wrong. At Romeny, customer service is horrible. One afternoon, when I persisted in trying to obtain information about classes from a front desk girl who was becoming less and less helpful by the second, she complained that she was "very unhappy" that I was keeping her at work past her quitting time, even though a spin class was still going on and the business was open. She openly said that she was "very angry" with me because she wanted to leave. When I told the desk girl that she could leave and I would speak with another "desk girl," she said she was "calling the owner" to complain about me. I said, "Please do call the owner, and allow me to speak with her. I have some questions." When I said this, the "desk girl" became angry & abusive-- hysterical in fact, and demanded that I "leave immediately." She started shouting, "Get out! Get out!" She refused to identify herself by name. I was terrified. When I complained to the business owner, I received a ridiculous, self-serving response of her "investigation" that could not possibly be true. I immediately found new Pilates instructors who were honest & completely upfront about payments and scheduling. I will never return to Romney Pilates, and get the shivers every time I even drive by. It's a genuinely horrible place due to the incompetent, nasty and abusive front desk girl I experienced. Whatever you do with Pilates, don't pay BIG MONEY to a place where the front desk girls abuse you and threaten you for simply asking why their "unlimited" membership only includes "two lessons a day." New Orleans has other places even nearby Romeny that teach REAL Pilates, are honest about their prices and services, and have top-notch front desk persons who know that they are the "face" of their business, and treat customers well. read more

I went here once and the instructor was terrible. She did the Pilates with us the entire time instead of going around the room and helping us work on our form. It seemed like she just wanted an excuse to do the workouts herself. In Pilates I find its important to have an instructor who is willing to take the time to make sure that form is correct so no one hurts themselves and so that everyone builds their muscles right and you see results. Perhaps this was just one bad experience but it was so terrible I never went back again. On the plus side, it had a cool atmosphere. read more
