Absolutely LOVE my first couple of experiences at Romney this past week. As a barre instructor myself, I was so excited to try out the unique class types Romney had to offer! I came with my boyfriend's sister who frequents Romney, and she told me it was their newer location (1320 Magazine St). I was super stoked to see the BEAUTIFUL interior, high ceilings, and absolutely amazing natural lighting in the studios thanks to the floor to ceiling windows! *heart eyes emoji* Not to mention their cute neon lighting "High Vibes" mirror for photo ops. Big plus in my book! BOUNCE: My first class was 6am Bounce with Olivia. I felt pretty nervous prior to class because a trampoline fitness class is completely out of my comfort zone (but that's also why I wanted to try it lol). We checked in at the front, stashed our stuff into the open faced cubbies, grabbed a towel, and hand weights and went inside. The trampolines were set up already and class started right on time. Olivia's energy during class was awesome! The class was SO fun and not as scary as I expected. Tip: look in the mirror to see where you're jumping, it helps A LOT. Fun playlist. The class is split into sections on and off the trampoline. You have to try this class! PULSE: My second class was 8:30am Pulse with Audrey. I found out about Pulse through an instructor who also works at the barre studio franchise I work for. I was instantly intrigued by her pretty photos of the studio on her IG and thought it might be slightly similar to what I do so of course I had to try! SO glad I did. The class is heated (I think it gets up to 95° but it's totally doable), you use one or two sets of wrist/ankle weights optional of course, hand weights, and a yoga mat. The choreography was super fun and the playlist again was great! Tips: bring a big aluminum water bottle to keep your water cold throughout class + my Apple Watch did totally find through the heat/sweat lol. Audrey's vocal cues were on point and she had great energy as well. DEFINITELY coming back for more! Overall, love love LOVE Romney and so glad I was introduced to this beautiful studio. I live in San Francisco and come to New Orleans every couple of months so I will 10000% be back for more, plus I want to try out their other class types! Big thanks to Romney Studios for creating such an awesome first experience for me. Excited to come back!

Being a studio owner myself for 15 years, I love to take class and visit other studios all around the US and world! I signed up for class and it's the cutest studio! They were welcoming and so sweet! It's right across Whole Foods and a blow bar so I got my hair done right after class! They have two rooms one for megareformer and one Classical side and I took the pilates class with samatha and she was awesome! Great cues and well informed on the body and modifications as there were older women with injuries in the class! Love this studio! Will be back for sure!

It was my first time at the studio, it was an amazing experience, they where helpful and professional.

I would likely return with a group again but it's quite pricey so a membership isn't in my current budget when I would still have to supplement this workout with others. I can say that 24 hours later I'm sore in places I forgot existed

After my first class, I wasn't sold on Pure Barre, but…read morewas determined to make the most of my introductory unlimited month for $100.00, because once I set a goal, I'm determined to see it through. My dislike wasn't just because of the awkwardness everyone experiences during the first class (though admittedly, I felt like I sucked at everything at first, heh). It was because I considered the prices for regular classes to be pretty steep for a class that doesn't even last an hour. Not to mention the Pure Barre branded stuff everywhere (which of course is typical of any gym franchise), the cheesy pop music and the fact that the stretching didn't seem to be enough (you can stretch on your own, obviously). I thought it was really just a glorified exercise class that you can get anywhere and didn't really see what the fuss was. And now after 10 classes, I'm hooked on the burn. They say that it takes about 3 classes to get the precision of the moves down (think tiny, intense movements) and that's about right. Now, I find myself doing these exercises just about anywhere. It's strangely addictive to clench your muscles like this. It's a fast, intense workout. Time may seem to stand still as your muscles are shaking, yet it goes by so rapidly that the class is over in the blink of an eye. You may feel that it's so fast that surely this isn't enough of a workout and what the hell did you just spend 25 bucks a class for? But it is. It's a great way to tone that body up (though you'd definitely want to supplement the workout with cardiovascular exercises to keep yourself in tip top shape). People liken it to a combination of yoga, pilates and ballet. I actually don't really see anything too much in common with yoga. Ballet, absolutely, for you're standing at a barre doing pliés which totally kill your thighs. I've never taken pilates before, so I can't remark on that. The teachers are great overall, and of course you will like some more than others. I tend to prefer the teachers that give you some kind of countdown and verbal encouragement throughout. Once the teacher becomes silent, people are more apt to rest, which you don't want to do b/c working the muscles to fatigue is kind of the point (and many will tell you this). Other good stuff: the studio is spotless, fans are plentiful, and the staff is nice. FYI, the price goes down if you buy 5, 10, and 20 sessions at a time. I just bought my next 10 classes. This is a great supplement to yoga and cardio workouts. I yearn for a gym in this city that offers both good classes and equipment, but until there is, I'll be working out at my bare bones gym, Pure Barre and various yoga studios When you compare Pure Barre to yoga, the price is kind of astronomical. (At Life yoga, 90 minute classes as low as 8-10 dollars a pop) but they do have promotional specials and in March, if you take 20 classes you are eligible for a month of unlimited at 100.00, which is pretty sweet.

With one friend who loves barre, my husband and I thought it would be fun to take barre classes with her. While we've all tried barre before, none of us have tried it with Barre3. The three of us purchased the intro special of three classes for $30! Perfect for our six day stay. We were able to book classes every other day, including Thanksgiving day, and experienced a different instructor each day. We had trouble laughing in the days in between class, because our cores were sore. Who knew there were so many muscles in the rib?! Friendly staff, great instructors, and clean facilities. No showers, but there are two private restrooms with towels and toiletries to clean up a bit. As with many barre facilities, it's female-focused, but there are amenities for men. My husband was very comfortable here. We'll be moving to NOLA next year. Nice to have a studio we both love!

I was looking for away to stay in shape since I am now pregnant and cannot do some of the more intense running/bootcamp workouts I used to do. After barely moving for a few months, I was feeling super gross and out of shape. While you are taking the class, you wonder if it is actually doing anything- such small movements, little sweat, and light weights! Then you wake up the next day and can't move your legs, and you know, yes, it DEFINITELY is doing something! I have seen some positive changes since I began taking classes- the "Pure Barre Shelf" has started to appear... basically a nice, round, lifted booty! My husband likes that part! :) I have also seen a lot of increased flexibility. Being a runner, my hamstrings were always SUPER tight, and all the stretching done in class definitely helps. The instructors are great and have given me great tips and modifications since I can't do everything... and I've had to make more and more modifications the bigger I get! It's really encouraging to see so many pregnant instructors and people taking the classes, make me feel like I am not alone! Be sure to sign up for classes early online, the prime times fill up quickly! They sell super cute workout clothes, socks (you need grippy socks to take the classes), and other accessories. I just wish they weren't so expensive! The classes themselves are also quite expensive as well. The packages do go on sale a few times a year, and if you go several times a week regularly, you definitely get your money's worth!

She gave everyone a discount code to try a class free at their studio so I thought I'd give their studio a try. I made an account online and scheduling/ checking out was super easy. They do have a 2hr cancellation policy, after which they will charge you. Price wise, Barre Code is more affordable than its competitors, Barre3 and PureBarre. They have a new member package that is $89 for a month of unlimited classes which I think is superb and you can try a class for free using a discount code. Parking was tough on Harrison and the studio itself is on the second floor so it was a little hard to find. Once inside, the studio was immaculate, clean, and welcoming. The receptionist was very nice and helped me check in. They have spacious bathrooms, a childcare area, lockers, a changing room (which doubles as a mother's room!), and even a nice vanity for freshening up. Towel rental and bottles of water are available for purchase for $1. Kelley was there greeting students and even remembered meeting me. The class itself was great- high energy, challenging, and I'm confident that I will see results. There were around 10 people in my class and my instructor, Marissa, was very down to earth, encouraging, and attentive. There are 3 levels of class difficulty- Barre Code, TBC (total body conditioning), and HIIT. There are also 2 classes on the weekends - HIIT and Barre restore that focus on stretching and recovery.
