I received a quote from the furniture repair company they referred me to for $650. I sent the quote to the company and they said that they would only pay half. They dodge my calls, refused to respond to me, and I'm now left with furniture that is broken because of their carelessness and inexperience. Do not trust this company at all. They are the absolute worst! I am now planning to sue them in small claims court.

They were allowed to do that because they did not provide us with a contract. Michael quoted us right away, generated a contract, both of us signed, and his team was able to move our apartment completely on such short notice. We arrived to San Antonio and not a single thing was broken, they installed all of our furniture, and even took apart our door to make sure our refrigerator fit. Then they quickly put it back on, they really do it all. I am so glad we found them, do yourself a favor and hire Local Lifters for all of your moving needs!

This is a warning to others who may want to use Alex. Alex's original estimate was that it would take 9 hours to do all phases of the move. This was important because we were paying by the hour. We based our budget on 9 hours. Alex and his team worked very hard and were careful with the first stage of the move. However, it took them 12 hours for just that first stage. That already blew our budget. But the worst is yet to come. A few days prior to the final move from storage to the new house, I texted Alex a couple of times reconfirming everything. I received no response. I then called him. His response was that he was on vacation for the next month and wouldn't be doing our move. Had I not called him, on the day of the move we would have just sat there waiting. I can't tell you the amount of coordination we had lined up with other vendors, deliveries etc. Not being able to move on the specific date we had agreed to ~45 days prior was going to be catastrophic for us. I haven't been that furious in a long time. Alex comes across as a nice guy and he does work hard when he is on the job. But he is not trustworthy and is unreliable. You just can't have that in this business or really any business.

Note that the distance between houses was less than two miles, and we only moved enough for a married couple, no kids: - We paid for and started the day with three movers. By lunch time, one of them left and we were stuck with two. When asked why the third left, he apparently broke our headboard and ditched the job. When calling the owner, no replacement mover was en route thus increasing the time and cost of our job. - The repairs for the damage to our headboard was an all-out shouting match with the owner, who wanted nothing to do with making things right. He got testy and in our face about 120 day lead times, and he was doing us a favor for fixing our stuff that his guys broke! You could not ask for worse customer service. The owner could care less about your move and your valuables, and he certainly will not fix anything without making you feel like you were the one responsible. It was even a chore to have his guys put together our busted bed so we could sleep for the night, even though we paid extra for that service as well. I would recommend looking elsewhere for someone that actually delivers what they promise from start to finish. It is a travesty these guys are still in business breaking things in Austin.

However, you do get what you pay for. We have 2 media shelves that we have moved across the country as well as another move in Austin that has stayed in tact and was never an issue being moved. One of the movers picked the first one up and the moment he left the apartment we hear a big crash and a "um the shelf fell apart on its own". Of course no one saw what happened, but the next shelf that was moved was completely fine. They aren't responsible because of a liability waiver they make you sign for anything that is made up of particle boards (and they make you sign a waiver for this - which I haven't done so with any other company). So, I think my husband wouldn't have been as mad if 1) the mover said "I'm sorry, I slipped" or something like that since they can't be liable anyways, and 2) we can fix it, which we tried glue gun and all, but we will just have to get a new one... so, we saved on 1 hour of labor but will have to use that savings on a new media shelf. The other thing that annoyed me is that I was quoted for 2 people, but 3 showed up and they wanted to charge me for the 3 movers vs 2. They told me it's because they were so busy and running behind... Then tried to tell me it's a better deal because they will move faster. We got this resolved, but I have a feeling that if I didn't fight for my quote, I would have been charged $130 vs the $90 I was quoted. If you have furniture from ikea or anything that isn't real wood, don't utilize them, because they won't be liable for breaking them. She asked me only a few questions such as the square footage of the house I was currently residing and the size of the house where the relocation would take place. She asked for me to do a followup email for her records of some of the items I would be moving. On July 10, 2017, I sent her this email ( I took out my address and phone number for privacy): I will be moving the contents of 2 children's bedrooms (queen sized furniture, toys, and clothes), 1 master bedroom (bed never assembled new), refrigerator that is NIB, washer, dryer, dining room set, NO couches or living room furniture except an area rug. I will need assistance packing up some larger pictures and 3 TVs. Pictures vary in size. I will send a picture of the pictures (ha ha) in a separate email from my phone. Right now, the expected closing date is August 3rd. Hopefully I will get confirmation of that soon. Let me know what other information you might need. The following day I received a follow up email from her quoting me $2475 for the full move and that included Darnell and two helpers. Prior to the actual move date, I did a few follow up calls to make sure everything was good. On August 1, 2017, Darnell showed up with only ONE helper and an extremely small truck. He was shocked to see I had boxes. Yes, BOXES. He stated, "you never said you were moving with boxes." Who the hell doesn't move with boxes? He then proceeded to ask me to find additional workers to help load the truck and call U-Haul to rent an additional truck. Frustrated, I began calling friends/family and anyone I knew to help. Meanwhile I was able to secure a U-Haul last minute. This ended up costing me an additional $600 that was not in the original quote! Plus the cost of me hiring additional labor. So now I'm over $1000 for this move. Friends and family pulled through to help. Meanwhile, I must also state that he showed up without tools to disassemble the furniture and only a few moving blankets. My furniture is of high quality, he chose to stack chairs on top of each other without any moving blankets. I even questioned his packing. I was feeling anxious and continuously questioning him verbally regarding his packing. Both trucks were poorly packed. I ended up transporting two cars full of household goods myself to my new home. Upon arrival, my heart sank. All eight of my dining room chairs were severely dented and marred. My Jupe table faired even worse. The brand new entertainment center had a huge chip of wood broken off and the other side had deep gouges. My brand new bedroom nightstand had paint completely rubbed off. Boxes that were labeled "FRAGILE" and "NOTHING ON TOP" were crushed under the weight of 5-6 other boxes inside the house. Crystal, glasses, plates, and pictures were all destroyed. Once again, he showed up without tools. The bedroom furniture was put back wrong. The box spring mattress was placed upside down! My friend had to advise him on how to do his job numerous times. It was absolutely ridiculous! I began taking pictures to document. Darnell only accepted that he needed to repair the chairs. He tried to tell me that the other furniture "came like that." No, it was brand new. As in I had not even used it yet! A week later he showed up at my house to pickup the damaged furniture because he wanted to take it to one of his buddies for repair. There was no way in hell I was going to let that man touch my furniture again! I received a very reasonable quote from Lee Haywood to repair all the damage to the wooden pieces for $600. (BTW, I would highly recommend Lee Haywood!) Darnell refused to pay that. So I hired an attorney to write him a letter. -actually it ended up being two letters. After two letters from attorneys, Darnell finally wrote me a check in the amount of $600. While this does not cover all the damage, time, effort, and extra expenses I incurred, I am glad to be done with I B.E.L.I.E.V.E Movers. I definitely would NOT recommend him to anyone! I just wanted my dresser fixed. Nathan offered the refund after the multiple disasters that happened during and after the move. Although he's offered a refund plenty of times, when I accept the offer he told me he will only do it if I take down review, as I "don't deserve one" because the "Better Business Bureau is breathing down his neck". The repair guy also never told me my dresser needed multiple parts--he kept canceling appointments to repair which I can only assume that he never intended on fixing it. My dresser is still broken and the owner is yet to give a response to the Better Business Bureau
