Simply said David was great. As the trustee closing down my parents estate we needed to get thousands of all types of coins appraised (US, Foreign, and any other odd coin made of metal). Obviously I tried coin dealers but they all wanted us to bring our collection to their store during M-F work hours. This is difficult since my free time was only on weekends. In addition my research based on some calls and reviews is that they would not provide a thorough in depth review of all your coins. This was also bad since I had thousands of coins! Then I came across David from MVUAFC! He works 7 days a week, works late (he stayed till midnight), comes to your house, returns phone calls and text messages promptly, provides a thorough inspection of all your coins (he spent 2 nights 8-10 hours total) and at the end literally provides an item by item list and value of all your coins. Most importantly he oozes passion for coins and is more than happy to help you understand and learn. Last you may think it odd to invite a stranger to your house to count money, especially late in the evening, but David is 110% trustworthy. I felt very lucky to find Mountain View Coins. I had already been to two other places with the goal of finding out the value of my parents coin collection. I actually don't know anything about coins. The first two places I went to spent very little time looking through my coins and seemed eager to rush me out of the shop. After those two experiences plus many phone calls made, I felt like people in the coin business are snobby rude people. When I brought the coin collection to Mountain View coins, the experience was the opposite of all the other negative experiences. The person that helped me was extremely friendly and willing to take as much time as necessary to go through my collection. It wasn't just a job for the person helping me, this person truly enjoys coins and was willing to educate me on my coins. There was never any feeling of pressure. The estimate that we received was a little bit higher than what I had received from the other two shops and he seemed willing to match some of the other estimates on some of the coins. Dealing with David was just refreshing from start to finish. Besides being just a lovely human being, he is intelligent, competent, extremely knowledgeable, and truly acts in the customer's best interest. I had inherited many foreign coins and notes from my father as far back as the 1940s, and also had many leftover coins from my own travels, what all added up to about 25 countries. A while ago I had tried to go online and sell them because local banks don't deal in all these currencies. I got so frustrated with the online website that some time later I looked locally and found David on yelp. David responded quickly to my text and was able to come to my house the next day on the weekend. He easily and quickly valued my foreign currency and give me a detailed accounting of what I was selling. I also had inherited silver coins from my father and David meticulously went through all the coins and valued them for me. I have to note that there is absolutely no pressure to sell from David. While he was going through my coins I found out that he also values jewelry, he has a small scale and will weigh items and give you an estimate for your gold and also values silver. There were a few items he wasn't sure about that I allowed him to take back with him and to test, he then gave me an estimate and paid me via Zelle, as with the other items that he paid me for on site. Besides everything else I was able to sell a lot of the jewelry that I no longer use and this was a blessing. I definitely will call on David again if I have anything else to sell in the way of coins, foreign money or gold in any form. David has excellent customer service, he follows up with text and besides the hand written accounting he gives you at your home, sends you a detailed accounting via email, and this was all in the same day.
