Communication was poor, simple tasks not being done like pump covers and refilling chemicals, brushing pool, were not consistently done.

I was referred to Mountain View Pool & Spa through pure happenstance, and I'm VERY impressed and very happy to have received said referral! I used a "bio purge" chemical in my hot tub, nine months ago, and ever since, it has had a strong, plastic or petroleum-like smell that was off-putting enough to prevent me from using the hot tub. Despite literally a dozen drain, clean, fill, and "see if it gets better" for several weeks cycles (it never got better), I was facing the possibility of having to replace my less-than-two-year old hot tub. Based on said referral, I called Mountain View Pool & Spa on a late Friday afternoon and left a message. Early Monday morning, an extremely friendly and helpful employee (owner, perhaps?) called me back. He asked me several questions, and recommended that I "make sure the water is well-chlorinated to try to oxidize out whatever the source of the smell may be". I asked if it was possible that a pump seal had failed, and he explained that hot tub pump seals are ceramic, and that there's no oil used in them. This put my mind completely at-ease. He also said that if the chlorination doesn't work, he'd be happy to come out and take a look. I should point out that during each of these drain and purge cycles, my water remained crystal clear for weeks at a time, despite my not adding any kind of sanitizer. To me, this suggested purge chemical residue still hanging around, but the chemical manufacturer was completely useless. My preferred sanitizer is not compatible with chlorine, so I'd never thought to use chlorine during said drain, clean, refill, and wait cycles. Taking Mountain View Pool & Spa's advice, I bought a gallon of 10% sodium hypochlorite pool shock (most household bleach is only about 4%, and a gallon of pool shock cost less and a much smaller bottle of store-brand bleach), and added two cups to my 400-gallon hot tub. I let it sit / circulate for a week. At the end of the week, I still smelled the petroleum-type smell, and could also smell bleach, so it was hard to tell if the petroleum-type smell was less severe than before or not. So, I drained, cleaned, and refilled, added two more cups of pool shock, and waited another week. Two more cycles of this, and there is no more petroleum smell at all! Mountain View Pool & Spa solved my problem, over the phone, and didn't charge me anything for it. This is absolutely awesome, and I'm extremely grateful. Did a great job on what turned out to be multiple spa problems. Had to come back several times, order parts, etc.

One thing our buyers insisted on was a fully functional hot tub. We'd never used ours. The inspector said everything was fine except the bubbler wasn't working. We were due to close in less than a week. Mountain View Pool and Spa was recommended by our local pool shop. When I called and explained the situation, Matt scheduled a visit in two days. He arrived on time, looked at the hot tub, reassured me that it was fixable, and fixed the problem almost immediately! Then he went into the mechanical room and made certain the pump was working properly. He was pleasant, reassuring, knowledgeable and competent. When I requested an email invoice, he told me there would be NO CHARGE as he was in the area and the fix was so quick! Does this ever happen anymore? HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Mountain View Pool & Spa - Water so clear! - Pool Cleaners Near Me - La Center, Washington

We hired Mountain View Pool & Spa to do maintenance/clean our pool once a month, as it was still not being used very much. We didn't get a breakdown of what their service includes, and then we got charged for products that we did not approve. The thing is, it's a new saltwater pool, which we told them, but they didn't tell us that there was no salt & that it was needed, but they added other chemicals. When we brought that up, they said they can add the salt for us and that we needed 15x 40lb. bags at $18.50 a piece. That seemed a bit high since our pool is on the smaller side. We decided to take a sample of our water to The Pool House (they had our pool size in the system because it was added by the company who built it). They said that for the pool size we have, we would need 7x 40lb. bags at $15 a piece. We understand that Mountain View Pool needs to up-charge, that's not the problem. The problem is that they said we needed more than double the bags (a $148 difference). Additionally, they would show up at random times & dates which is awkward, especially if we had guests over or were outside. Lastly, no one came to service the pool in over a month and 2 weeks. No one called to update us on why. We called Dakota to discuss this and they said that they are only in the area Monday's & that it was a holiday so they would come the next time they were in the area. On the phone, Dakota was rude and agitated. There was also a crying baby in the background which was very distracting. We have a 7 month old as well so I told him to tend to the baby and to call me later but he didn't want to do that. We asked them to at least communicate with us what time and day they plan to be here & they responded a few days later saying to find a different service provider. I don't recommend this company to anyone looking for a pool/spa cleaning and maintenance service. Very unprofessional. read more

The guy who answered the phone was so rude! He seemed very annoyed by my questions because I didn't know anything about pools as we just purchased our house recently. There were screaming children in background crying. He didn't want to take the time to talk to me. He was going to schedule me a month and a half out just to access. I was willing to wait but from there he couldn't tell me when he could put me down for maintenance. I told him it would be end of summer by then. I've used this company twice now and have not been completely satisfied either time. My first experience was Oct 2016 for a pool closing. I called and talked to two separate company representatives asking how much a pool closing would cost for my 20,000 gal pool and both times was told $200. After the pool closing was completed I was sent an invoice for $327, which was $127 dollars more than what I was quoted. Reviewing the invoice, Mt. View charged me $200+tax+cost of chemicals for a pool closing, but did not disclose upfront that their $200 quote doesn't cover tax or the cost of chemicals used. They did complete the pool closing, however I found their incomplete quote for the service to be deceptive. My second experience was April 2017 for a pool opening. Again I called and asked how much a pool opening would cost for my 20,000 gal pool and was told $250. I also asked if the pool opening includes cleaning the pool and was told yes. On the date and time my pool opening was scheduled, no one from Mt. View showed up. I waited for a bit to see if they would arrive but late, then I called and left Mt. View a message asking if they were still coming. I received a call back from Mt. View explaining they had called me earlier in the morning to confirm if I would be home but that I had not answered my phone so they did not want to drive to my location; however my husband was at home waiting for Mt. View to show up for the appointment. At this point I checked my phone call log and I did have a missed call from an unknown number that had not left a message, so I had no way of knowing Mt. View was calling about my pool opening appointment. Therefore I had to reschedule my pool opening. At my rescheduled pool opening, Mt. View showed up on time and was very pleasant to work with. They restarted the pool filtration system, tested the pool heater was working, added chlorine and algaecide to the pool water, and then left. Before Mt. View left I asked if they would be cleaning the pool as part of the opening since the pool bottom and sides were very dirty having sat closed all winter. I was told they would be back to "touch up" the pool, however they never returned and left my pool filthy; they also did not even check the alkalinity or pH levels for adjustment. Mt. View sent me an invoice for $347 for the pool opening, which again was a significantly greater amount then what they quoted since their invoice includes tax and cost of chemicals while their service quotes do not. I have attempted to contact Mt. View to remedy the issue of my pool being left filthy but as of today it has been 2 weeks with no response. Due to their apparent deceptive quoting for services, their not showing up for scheduled appointments, their lack of clearly stating what actions their services include and don't include, and their lack of response to billing questions I will avoid doing business with this company in the future.
