We had a scary sink hole in our back yard due to rotting tree and other organic material rotting underground. Seth and his team evaluated our situation and knew what to do, based on their extensive experience with similar issues in Vancouver. The situation was caused by careless, even incompetent contractors who have been allowed to do this kind of thing all over Vancouver. In a little over two days, with the initial work done during heavy rain, they got rid of the leftover organic material, put back good soil, tamped it down into a gentle slope. Then they smoothed it all out and seeded the area and where they had to access through the front yard. Our grass has begun coming up but of course, with the winter it won't be in until spring. The cost was reasonable and fair and I would hire them again in a minute. I highly recommend Seth and his team if you have any excavation needs. read more

We cannot recommend Drainage Masters enough! After our daylight basement flooded during the last storm, we discovered that groundwater was seeping through cracks in our walls and foundation--something not covered by insurance. We called five different companies, each offering a wildly different (and expensive) solution, including jackhammering our foundation for a staggering $29,000. Drainage Masters, however, stood out as the only company that provided a clear, effective, and affordable plan: installing a French drain around the perimeter of our house. Since our home is on an incline, no sump pump was needed, making it a long-term and low-maintenance fix. Despite a snowstorm delaying our initial appointment, they promptly rescheduled and arrived on time with a hardworking crew of eight. Every team member was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind--happily answering my many questions and explaining each step of the process. They excavated over 8 feet of dirt, reaching down to the foundation, and installed a durable rubber lining before laying the French drain and covering it with beautiful river rock. An unexpected bonus? They went beyond the contract and even sealed a few above-ground cracks at no extra charge! They also reconstructed an existing downspout drain pipe, making it even better than before. The final result exceeded our expectations, both functionally and aesthetically. Drainage Masters did a fine job with courteous employees answering all my questions. Some concerns I had after the completed project were laid to rest when Seth came back to address them. Previously, I interviewed several landscape companies and was disappointed with the solutions they offered. The plan Seth offered made the most sense. I hired Drainage Masters in 2018 and had a FANTASTIC experience. From the office staff to the workers; overall great experience which I posted on Yelp. 2022. Contacted them again and was very disappointed. Front office customer service has gone downhill considerably. If I have to repeat myself TWICE on 2 separate requests; heaven knows how bad the communication is internally with employees. Details: 1. Contacted them via e-mail. No response after 2 days so I picked up the phone and CALLED them. Met with Estimator "R". Said I could get "squeezed in bc it was a small job; 2-3 weeks; or I will have to wait until May". 2. Received estimate from Office Person "J". Needed adjustment on the name; and remove one service, and mentioned Estimator "R" said I could get scheduled 2-3 weeks. 3. Revised estimate from "J". Estimate revised; not name. Repeated request for name revision. Job date was scheduled way later than 2-3 weeks (late May); I asked "J" to check with Estimator "R". Again. When I finally spoke to Office "J" on the phone; she was very cold. No how are you? No good morning / good afternoon. "This is J from Drainage Masters". An earlier work date was set (gee, finally) - The finale was "How will you pay?" Again - VERY opposite experience from 2018. I remember the office gal being very friendly, warm and EFFICIENT. Payment was never mentioned; I had to ask from my side how can I pay (on-line, check to Foreman, etc.) Perhaps this job was too "small" for their business (approx $2K vs. $6K in 2018) I will not be calling them again. p.s. I spent $1800 to fix a drywell issue. First rainfall and the same problems occurred before the "fix". Don't bother with this company.

Over the last few years, Drainage Masters has done several jobs at my house and yard, including outdoor French drain, indoor foundation drain and excavating and replacing rain drains in the yard. All of those jobs were done professionally with knowledgeable and friendly staff and were priced reasonably. The most recent job - excavating and replacing rain drains in the yard - turned out to be more time and work than DM had figured in their bid. Even though their bid was an estimate that excluded unforeseen conditions, the owner of DM was very reasonable in his response to the situation, and we quickly came to what I considered to be a fair resolution of the pricing issue. In addition to their technical skills and fairness, I was impressed with DM's professionalism. After it became clear the outdoor rain drain excavation job was going to me more work and time than estimated, I overheard the DM foreman tell his crew that that was not their concern, that the DM owner would work it out with the homeowner, and that the crew was to proceed with the job and do it right no matter how long it took so it would be a permanent solution for the homeowner. read more

I was having a problem with rainwater getting into my crawl space. After consultation on either replacing the drainage system to the street or installing dry wells, I selected the drywelk option. Their estimator was courteous and efficient. The drywell installation went well although the job was a little bigger than the installation supervisor anticipated. They managed to install two dry wells in one day, digging a lot of trenches by hand in the process, and reinstalling any landscaping which had to be disturbed in the process. There were a couple of issues, but once attention was drawn to them they took care of them conscientiously and promptly and I would call them again for any drainage problem. read more

Seth and his team were GREAT to work with. I had massive amounts of surface water coming through my yard and finally decided to do something about it. Seth answered my questions about different drainage options, concerns I had about neighboring properties, and concerns about sediment movement. I was very impressed with his knowledge of trees also, and his concern and attention in making sure the French drain would not impact any of the root systems (and that the roots wouldn't mess up the French drain!). He even made a few last minute changes at cost to him so that I wouldn't have to enter into an easement with my neighbors. The crew was great, respectful, and were really hard workers. Most importantly, it rained over 1/2" the night they finished and there was NO flooding in my yard the next morning!!!! I couldn't be happier. Total scammers. Please shop around. The two other places I used after them had a completely different and honest feeling way of doing things with no shady behavior. The very first time they showed up with the wrong wrench and couldn't get a pipe opened after 5 min. They asked me to write a $50 check right then, Which felt uncomfortable because they didn't accomplish anything. Saying it would go towards the next visit. That's kind of their thing, you keep paying towards the next visit. In the end on the final day of my project which they left unfinished because I "might need them to improve upon it". The next morning their window came and went with a no show in their part. I called to find out situation and was told I would need to reschedule as the person had got caught up doing paperwork in the office. Rip-off Masters ready to drain your wallet! This outfit provided a bid that was literally three times more than a reputable competitor. And wait, there's more! I was promised by their administrative assistant that I would receive a diagnostic scoping for free during the estimate. After waiting weeks for the estimate, the estimator showed up and told me that I had heard it wrong and "the investigation" was for a fee. I balked and relayed what I had been told. He insisted I was mistaken, and then, after some protest, informed me that another customer had said they'd been given the same information. He then promised the fee for "the investigation" would be significantly reduced! Fast-forward to the estimate in which "the investigation"--significantly reduced--would be $180 bucks. Normally, it's $360! Evidently, drainage masters has an MD on staff who scopes your drainpipe for "the investigation." I complained about this, and I was told that they'd get back to me. They never got back to me. Looking over the reviews, I see a common theme with how this company responds: our exorbitant prices are justified by our incredible warranty and workmanship! No, sorry, that doesn't cut it. You engender trust in your customer by not fleecing them and by not pulling a bait and switch routine. Do honest work, and you do not get the kind of reviews I'm seeing here. I think we have a case of a company that waits in the gutter for unsuspecting homeowners who want the comfort of the amazing warranty, "the investigation," and all the other nonsense seeping out of this operation. If I could give 10 out of 5 stars I would! :-) Drainage Masters installed a french drain in our crawl space in 2015 and went the extra mile at that time to address both the 2-4 inches of water that would accumulate down there and the creek next to our house. Bone dry after they were done. ALSO, the reason I'm posting this review now, 6 years later, is because they TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMER AFTER THE FACT AND HAVE CONTINUED TO GO THE EXTRA MILE WITH THEIR WARRANTY. The french drain was functioning fine, but I had an issue were some water seeped down on top of the vapor barrier that pooled up following a crazy snow storm in March that caused water to enter at through our vents instead of through the groundwater that we planned for. The french drain worked perfect, but since the water was on top of the plastic, it couldn't make it to the drain. Raubdel came out within a week of my contacting them, helped me understand what happened and how to prevent it in future. We needed a professional person to get the ground water to be moved and they came, decided what needed and their crew did the job well. Had a 2 hour window for an appointment today. I stepped away from my phone and as soon as I came back it was ringing with a tech, Jordan, on the other end telling me that he and the office called me 30 mins prior and he waited but had to leave. Long story short, I knew I wasn't gone from my phone that long and the time stamps on the voicemails/calls to and from were about 7 mins apart. So, they gave me 2 hours to wait and they left after 7 minutes, but tried to make it out that they waited for 30 minutes. Lame. And the last thing to tell someone who is not happy with you is that they are over reacting. Sorry brah, I took off work for 2 hours, I'm angry and have every right to be. I had the drainage lines for my downspouts completely blocked by tree roots and water was backing up at my house foundation. Because of all the cement work around my house I was at a loss as to what to do. Drainage Masters ran all new drain lines hardly disturbing any of the cement. These guys are amazing. Not only did they solve my problem but they laid soil over the trench and added grass seed and cleaned up the sidewalks and replaced some dirt that I had dug up trying to find the problem myself. Drainage Masters did some work on the property next to mine. They replaced an illegal drain, which should not have been allowed. Part of the work was done on my property without my permission. The project manager assured me that the stream bed would be at the same original level when the work was done. The stream bed was filled in about six inches higher than the original level, causing flooding on my lot. I could not be more unhappy. read more
