Went to Mountain Q for lunch today. It is our second time there. It was awesome. That is saying a lot. I come from a family of barbecues.

The wife and I had the tri-tip sandwich and we ate on it two times, it was so tender and worth the price. Excellent place will be back.

It was pretty quiet during lunch, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the salad and it was massive -- easily big enough for two people. The only downside was the beer selection. They were out of quite a few options. Luckily they still had the one I wanted, but another customer gave up the search and settled for a soda. Food and service were excellent overall. Just don't come expecting a fully stocked beer list.

Popped in after a Yosemite-in-a-day mission for dinner, and it was strange. The shopping center felt like it was some strange faux Disneyland town. Very little things were open, and there's also a hotel? This restaurant and the pizza place seemed to be the most bustling. The restaurant has an enormous door that was easy to open from the outside, a little more difficult to open from the inside. Anyway, enough about the ambiance. We had bikes with us, so they accommodated us outside. Menu was pretty basic: appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pastas, and drinks. Everything looked and sounded delicious to our famished crew, but I think they're banking on starvation. All the food was just okay, mediocre. Nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing either. I got the brisket salad. Brisket ($18) was kinda cold and gummy. The cornbread ($6) was a little tasteless. The honey citrus butter with the cornbread had so much potential but was also a little flavorless. A friend ordered pickle chips and that was probably the tastiest thing we had. Our server rang us all up individually which was great for a group. After tax and tip, it was $30, which hurt for such an unsatisfying meal.

This sauce tasted like something I could squeeze out of a store bought bottle. On the other hand, the Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage was phenomenal! I have to say the best one I've had. It has a snap and once snapped, you can see the cheese oozing out, and once you bite into it, you get that kick from the jalapeno! This recipe is mastered. I'd travel a distance to get this. The potato salad and coleslaw are good sides. *Before you leave, check your order. When I was waiting for my food, a couple had to come back because an item was missing. I checked my order and an item was missing too but thankfully I double checked because of what happened to the couple.

We drove near a small hut with a sign that read BBQ with a small line of people so we figured it must be good. We turned back and found no more customers, but we asked the caller what was popular, she recommended tri tip and brisket. We ordered combination plates with macaroni and cheese as the side. We asked if the plates came with bread. We asked if the Mac and cheese was homemade. DISAPPOINTED. Both meats were heavily salted, and the brisket had tons of fat. The macaroni and cheese was bright orange with tons of garlic and it tastes like I was biting into a brick of sharp cheddar cheese. The bread was a cold King's Hawaiian roll. We also ordered a hot link on the side that was dried up and hard as a rock. The bbq sauce that came with the plates tastes like bottle sauce. Sadly, we did not attempt to eat the food and threw away $45 worth of food. We don't live in the area so we were not sure and expected more from this little spot. I really wish it had exceeded expectations.

I am very big into bbq and if i see a spot, my tastebuds and appetite get curious. IMO, there is not a lot great bbq, living in the south for some years, i have had my fair share. This place is a great mention for bbq. From flavor to tenderness. I had the ribs, tri-tip and brisket. The tri-tip and brisket was tender and had good pepper flavor but not over powering. The ribs, amazing flavor with just a bit of a snap. Sides: coleslaw and beans. The beans were delicious. The coleslaw, well it's different but good. To each their own and this place was fantastic to me. This would be my go to for bbq if i lived in the area.

BE AWARE: you will likely wait for over an hour to get your food. the people behind us probably waited longer. they hadn't taken anything off the smoker so we marked off them cutting it fresh. not sure what happened. 2.5/5 the mac and cheese was fairly bland and the macaroni itself was a bit too soft, but the creamy cheese was great and is my personal favorite type of mac and cheese. 2/5 the house pickles were just okay. semi-soft from the pickling process rather than crunchy like a grillo's pickle. i think next time the pickled onions would be a better choice. 3/5 the tri-tip was seasoned decently, but it was not tender and quite dry. it didn't have that rich smoky flavor either and feels like they warmed it without juicing the meat. 3/5 the brisket itself was good. probably the best thing we ordered. the fat was melty and soaked nicely into the bread when eaten. 2/5 i personally was not a fan of the chicken as it was smoked, but slightly dry and didn't have much flavor. it was cooked nicely though and will be tiered 3rd in line. with the cali white sauce, it was decent just not my favorite. 4.5/5 i actually really liked the jojo potatoes! you can taste the tallow it was cooked in and it was nice and crispy, with green onions and a sour cream sauce. i liked it a lot! the potato was salty and cooked through-- would absolutely order again. finishing notes: for the area, this is a nice spot to be to watch the sunset with family. just make sure you're willing to wait the hour. not to mention, the portion sizes are extremely small and this plate alone fed 2 people who are usually only peckish and can't finish a whole lot. i would order the brisket and jojo potatoes again without hesitation. it is a solid spot, though other places shine brighter. i will say, i can't wait to come back to give them another shot. thanks for the dinner guys!
