Mountain Mikes is one of those pizza places that I partly love if only for the nostalgia factor of having grown up eating it. Those teeny pepperonis are my fave though! I love how crispy they get. We got a large Pikes Peak and it was perfect for dinner for two plus leftovers the next day and it was truly STACKED with meats. To top it off we got the dessert pizza which is just my excuse to eat cinnamon sugar on pizza dough and it was delicious (and also saved well). This location has parking in the back that's specifically for customers so it's easy to pop in and out for pick up. Absolutely horrible. We went for lunch and were the only people in there. Paid almost 40 dollars for a small cheese pizza and 6 wings and it took 30+ minutes to come out. I've been coming to this location for a long time, and I was really disappointed to find out the ownership has changed--unfortunately, it shows. The buffet didn't seem fresh at all, even though there were some new items. The quality just wasn't there. What really bothered me, though, was something I overheard that was personal and sensitive info about the previous owners. I was chatting with another guest and then later learned from a manager that the person sharing info was actually a business coach working with the franchise. That kind of private information has no place in a public casual conversation with customers. I work for a Fortune 500 company, so I'm very familiar with the importance of confidentiality and professional conduct. Honestly, this felt completely out of line. Regardless of the intent, it was unprofessional, and it reflects poorly on the brand. I really hope this is looked into--no customer should be told the things I overheard. read more

Mountain Mike's is fabulous. I placed an order for pick up online. I never got a confirmation email though, so I just called to make sure it had gone thru. It did. Showed up 15 mins later. My pizza was hot and ready. I ordered a pepperoni with salami and jalapenos. This pizza has an excellent crunch, amazing crust, and awesome roni cups. I loved it sm. I ordered a side of ranch as well and that was also amazing. Their pizza reminds me of Toppers if you've ever tried that, in a very good way (love Toppers.) The crust was soft on the top with a crispy undercarriage. I also liked the generosity of the toppings and how they stretch it back into the crust so every bite is just as good as the last. Hello, my name is Darla. I recently moved from Corona (Rvsd County) to Costa Mesa. After several loads of packing loading unloading, I was looking for a place to eat pizza sounding the best. I could go into a long detail message about a mishap with the owner of the Corona mountain mikes on Ontario Avenue, but it's not necessary. What I want to say and what's most important is the young lady taking my order over the phone was very kind and professional; asked me if I minded that she put me on hold for a moment she was having problems with the computer. I told her not at all. At that time, a gentleman/manager "Chip" Introduced himself and told me that he was more than happy to continue taking my order. I told Chip that I literally was just moving to Costa Mesa from Corona and was so excited to see that there was a Mountain Mikes so close to my new home. Needless to say, Chip took my order told me it would be there within 45 minutes, the young ladies name that would be delivering my order, and was very happy to have me as their customer. 20 minutes later, I have a knocking at the door and there is my pizza being delivered by a very kind young lady. Being so hungry I could not wait to open that box to have a Mountain Mikes Pizza. It was absolutely fantastic!! Still hot, full of cheese and pepperoni!! the way Mountain Mike's advertises. Look. Some people like to eat thick bread with toppings and call it pizza. Mountain Mike's says this is pizza "the way it should be." This review is not for these people. This review is for people who like regular ass pizza. People who are about to blow $40 on pizza who I know will be disappointed with the pizza, themselves, and ultimately God if they order this pizza. These are my peoples, and I am here to save them. As noted, this pizza is somehow 175% bread. Yes, I get that pizza is technically, largely bread. You will never hear me bad mouthing bread. Bread has gotten me to where I am today. Bread will be in my eventual Oscar acceptance speech. But somehow, this bread is not good. I don't know the physics of it and I'm shocked I would say this, too. But hear me out. It's too much g d bread. I promised myself I wouldn't curse but I can't help it. The pizza also tastes old while it's still hot. I believe them when they say they make the dough fresh. I just think the style of dough has an inherently old taste. I tried a variety of flavors - pepperoni, cheese, veggie (the best of all of them) and chicken. The chicken is inedible due to the slathering of barbecue sauce. When I was a kid bbq chicken pizza was the new shit, I believe CPK first brought it to my small midwestern town in the 90s. And you know what? They're still going strong with it. It is not the same as this pizza. I had a SNOWY ALPS small pizza (pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, Italian sausage, green onions and diced tomatoes on garlic sauce), I asked if possible to substitute the Italian sausage for ham and they did it, no problem with that. Wow! What an underwhelming dinner. I had heard good things about Mountain Mike's but what I was served was precisely meh. The dough is clearly baked from frozen, and I'm guessing ( from my decades of experience in the food industry) that it is also pre sauced. The ingredients are the opposite of fresh and the chicken on our pizza was chewy and processed tasting. The crust was a tragedy, reminiscent of the frozen French bread frozen pizza of my youth. Pretty freaking good if you're on the go and live close. Ideal way to eat is with a glass of wine and an episode of the bachelor. The regular crust is pretty amazing and their gluten free option is good as well! Gluten free is only available in the small size (10") but is very filling.
