I've been visiting this clinic over the last 25 years, probably more. I ALWAYS have providers that do a fantastic job. Thank you!

Two days latter - no call. I tried to call two times but gave up after twenty minutes. What they were quick at was the bill. I was okay with paying something. I called - after thirty minutes I gave up. I sent an email with a question. No response. In the real world when services aren't performed there is usually a discount. Maybe 10 percent? The money isn't the issue but the utter lack of follow through and responsiveness was appalling.

I came to this UC because pain was getting worse and ear was draining while I was visiting family in the area and I wanted someone to visually see it in case it wasn't bacterial. My first mistake was picking this establishment without reading the reviews. Staff was professional enough but rushed and appeared understaffed. The male medical assistant became oddly snarky after I revealed I work in dermatology, which was quite awkward. The NP I saw later looked at my ear for maybe five seconds and said there was no evidence of a bacterial infection and I should stop the antibiotics. They said the MD I saw virtually was likely wrong about it being bacterial since they didn't see me in-person. After peeking at my nose and noticing it was draining (I have allergies in Central Oregon) they said all my pain must be due to congestion and to do anti-congestive meds OTC. Sounds reasonable enough. I have a lot of faith in medicinal professionals, so I tried their treatment for the next 24-48 hours. Unfortunately I ended up needing to be driven to the ER a couple days later because the pain in my ear went from painful to agony and it was draining even more pus with some blood. Long story short I needed to be admitted for mastoiditis (seen on CT scan) and had to go on multiple antibiotics and steroids. ER naturally did a culture of the external ear canal too, which grew out a heavy growth of pseudomonas aeruginosa (aka bacteria). My eardrum ended up rupturing from the infection which was extremely painful and may have damaged my hearing (although I haven't seen ENT yet to confirm). Overall, I'm very disappointed with the care I received here. I'd like to assume they were doing their best and I know misdiagnoses happen to even the best of providers. But I can't help but feel that if I had seen someone less rushed, more empathetic, and better trained I would have gotten what the original provider I saw thought was an infection confirmed and received earlier treatment. Maybe then I could have avoided an expensive ER visit and weeks of pain. But who knows. The $300 out-of-pocket cost for a 5 minute visit here just rubbed salt in the wound considering their "care" actually caused me a delay in treatment and caused me great amount of pain in the end. I would avoid this establishment if at all possible.

I was on a camping trip with my family from out of town and needed medical attention…read more And I'm so glad I found St. Charles Hospital in Bend. From the minute I walked into the emergency department I was taken care of in a very kind, efficient and professional matter. It was about 7 o'clock at night when I checked in with a friendly lady (unfortunately I don't remember her name). The check in was easy and quick. After only spending a short period in the waiting area I was seen by a wonderful triage nurse (Jacquie). She asked me some questions and I was immediately taken into a room where another nurse (Mike) looked after me. The room and the hospital itself is very clean and modern. Mike took some blood, brought me warm blankets and started an IV line. Just shortly afterwards I was seen by Dr. Ryan Petersen and nurse Emma who did an exam. Both were very respectful and professional. I also had to get an ultrasound and Erin made me feel calm and took care of me ever so gently. As my husband and son were waiting in our RV just outside on the parking lot we were given a list with nearby hotels and parking facilities, which was truly thoughtful. Both my husband and son were able to come and see me for a short period of time for some much needed support. Later that night I was discharged and Cody one of the hospital administrators took my details. We had a brief yet deep conversation and I could feel that I was not just a number or patient, but a human being with physical and emotional needs. The staff at St. Charles hospital is just excellent. They do listen and they do care!! Dr. Petersen came to see me one more time before leaving the hospital and handing me my discharge papers as well as explaining what had happened and how to handle the aftercare. Even though I was relieved to leave the hospital Nurse Mike made farewell just a little harder! Mike: you are an amazing nurse and such a wonderful person with a big heart! I'm so thankful for you! I must say that I'm more than impressed with the care this hospital provides. The emergency department surely has a fantastic team and everyone is going out of their way to make patients feel comfortable, reassured and safe. I have so much appreciation, respect and gratitude for each and everyone going the extra mile! Thank you ever so much for all your sweetness, kindness, compassion, professionalism and hard work!!!

I do not recommend these practitioners at all…read more I started seeing Flattery about 9 years ago for Lyme Disease. For the first two years we did several expensive treatments (none of which worked). Around 2.5 years into it, I was in a serious car accident and almost broke my neck. The Lyme had already affected my back and neck, therefore I was at a pain level of around ten at all times for about a year solid. I had lost 30 pounds, I was bedridden and I was suffering tremendously. Lyme is a pain syndrome that is astounding. It's almost indescribable. I essentially begged Flattery for pain medication, but he always made me feel like I was a pathetic junkie. One day I even confessed to him in tears that I was ready to end my own life because I was suffering so badly. Eventually I developed a street connection for Oxycontin until I was able to get my situation under control by stopping Flatterys treatments and doing the Buehner Protocol. I have since recovered about 90% and I haven't taken any pain medication in about 5 years. When my car accident attorney requested my records from Flattery, almost every report said the same thing, something to the effect of, Chris looks and seems sad. It was almost as if he was cutting and pasting the summaries. Another impetus for me stopping the treatments was that I had burned through my life savings. It felt like all the interest in helping me was gone once the money was gone. Flattery started making comments like "I'm not sure if I really believe that you're sick" or other jabs about me being a drug addict. Having a Naturopath that approaches Lyme in that manner is not at all comforting although it did empower me to take my situation into my own hands. It was an incredibly lonely time. At that point I was working with Flattery only to refill my prescriptions. One of them was for Gabapentin. It was not uncommon for me to have to place 4 to 5 phone calls begging for refills. Sometimes it would take as long as 20 days for the refills. One time I ran out of Gabapentin on a photoshoot and my withdrawal symptoms were so severe that I literally thought I was going to die. It was the worst panic attack I have ever experienced and it was in front of a new client and some very wealthy homeowners. Eventually I started seeing another practitioner in his office named Keith Bell hoping that I would be able to get the scrips refilled in a timely manner. As of this writing, I have placed 4 - 5 phone calls to their office begging for a refill for ointment for mysterious skin rashes. It has been almost 17 days since the pharmacy sent the first request over and still no luck. It looks and feels like my hands are going to rot off and I have a rash on my shin that's the size of a donut. It's incredibly unsettling. The ointment gets rid of them but I don't have any left. It is not uncommon for me to have to stop by their office, make several phone calls and wait several days to get Bell to do a refill for me. This has caused me a great deal of unnecessary stress. About 4 years ago, I developed a hand infection from the rashes and was hospitalized, had surgery and almost lost my hand. The last thing a person should stress over is something as simple as a refill. My experience with Lyme and the medical community (even the Naturopaths) has been mostly resentment, humiliation and hopelessness. It is absolutely no way conducive to healing. It's demoralizing. Tomorrow I will be ending my relationship with the center for integrative medicine and leaving with what little dignity I have intact.
