My husband loves breakfast food so he insisted we stop at this place... and frankly we weren't very impressed. You order your food & drinks at the door, then you have to pay and tip before you get service or try the food. We sat down at a table and 20ish mins later we got our food, but the drinks hadn't come yet and we didn't have silverware. Live in the area, haven't been here in a while, and because I love the Sunshine Cafe and Butterhorn so much I haven't been since their move to the new location. I used to give this place at least 4 stars. But the food and price so isn't worth it anymore. Steak wasn't properly cooked, neither were the eggs. Pancakes were meh. Seriously overpriced fruit plate (Butterhorn's is SO much better). Honestly the whole food experience was meh. It used to be the cheapest good food in the area, but now it's overpriced meh food. Terrible experience unfortunately. This place used to have the best beef dips but when I brought Karen and the kids here for some late breakfast/ lunch we were shocked at the food quality. Bad customer service. My friend and I called and asked if they had a patio and if they allowed dogs. The lady on the phone said yes, come in. So we drive over. My friend waited outside with her dog and I went in to be seated,I waited 10 minutes for a host to come greet me, no came up. (Yes, it was busy) I just walked outside and told w my friend to come sit on the patio. we sat down at a table. They came running out telling us we could not sit there and they don't allow dogs. I explained to the lady, that I called and the person I talked to said it was okay. The lady said that they were wrong. We looked over at the people next to us that were drinking coffee. This was an enjoyable Sunday morning breakfast spot after a long walk along the river. They have plenty of outdoor seating appropriately spaced apart and welcome your canine family members to join if you'd like. The food is hit or miss. My son didn't care for his eggs benedict - "the hollandaise is way too cheesy" - but my chili rellenos (you get two along with eggs and hashbrowns) were the bomb! If you like good, strong coffee... get it elsewhere because it looks and tastes like colored hot water here. This place is the best! We were looking for a breakfast place to go to after church and saw this place. After checking the reviews, we decided this was it. We're so glad we stopped. This is my dream diner. They had everything I could possibly want for breakfast and more. Every town should have a place like this. It took forever for me to decide what to order. I finally decided on the Denver omelette with potatoes O'Brien and pancakes. All that for $8.95. How do they do it? Their prices are incredible. My husband got the Mile High Omelette with toast and hash browns. They give you so many choices. I love that you can get hash browns or potatoes O'Brien and toast or pancakes. They really aim to please. Both of our potatoes were cooked crispy to perfection. We were both happy campers. We had so much food we couldn't finish eating it. This is the best breakfast I've had in a long time. And our waitress was both friendly and attentive. I can't recommend this place more. If you're ever in Silverthorne, you must stop here. Mountain Lyon Cafe is my "go to" sit down breakfast diner for those lazy mornings where the snow isn't good enough to warrant getting up before 10am. It's always packed inside but they turnover tables quickly enough that the wait is never more than 15 minutes. Service has been good and the food definitely hits the spot. Their green chili has some serious spice to it as well; I find myself with a nice bead of brow sweat. We absolutely loved this place! We stopped in 1/8/15 before making our way back to Denver. Now I think we are both ready for a nap. I ordered the ultimate skillet with country gravy and it was amazing!! So much delicious food! The home Fries were great, it was topped with eggs, cheese, onions, bacon, cheese, and smothered in country gravy! My guy ordered the chicken fried steak and kept saying how good it was! Alright. This place is where a good breakfast is. I got the breakfast burrito and my girlfriend got the Mountain lion omelet. The burrito was well worth the 11$. It was smothered with real, spicy green Chile and the hash browns were so good. I loved the service, it was quick and attentive. The real kicker for me was their hot sauce. They had one that included ghost peppers. This is what I'm talking about. I smothered my burrito in that sauce and loved every single bite. Also. My girlfriend loved her omelet, and the multi grain pancakes that came with it. I enjoyed them also. If you're passing through on a weekday, come get some breakfast.
