My husband loves breakfast food so he insisted we stop at this place... and frankly we weren't very impressed. You order your food & drinks at the door, then you have to pay and tip before you get service or try the food. We sat down at a table and 20ish mins later we got our food, but the drinks hadn't come yet and we didn't have silverware. I used to give this place at least 4 stars. But the food and price so isn't worth it anymore. Steak wasn't properly cooked, neither were the eggs. Pancakes were meh. Mountain Lyon Cafe doesn't disappoint - it is a cheap breakfast and brunch diner with amazing food, and surprisingly quick turns. Even with the wait, we weren't at the restaurant much more than an hour. I was there a couple weeks ago with friends, and while everyone was happy with their omelets and pancakes and such, they turned green and hot at the sight of my breakfast burrito platter with green chili. This is my dream diner. They had everything I could possibly want for breakfast and more. Every town should have a place like this. It took forever for me to decide what to order. I finally decided on the Denver omelette with potatoes O'Brien and pancakes. All that for $8.95. How do they do it? Their prices are incredible. My husband got the Mile High Omelette with toast and hash browns. They give you so many choices. I love that you can get hash browns or potatoes O'Brien and toast or pancakes. They really aim to please. Both of our potatoes were cooked crispy to perfection. We were both happy campers. We had so much food we couldn't finish eating it. Mountain Lyon Cafe is my "go to" sit down breakfast diner for those lazy mornings where the snow isn't good enough to warrant getting up before 10am. It's always packed inside but they turnover tables quickly enough that the wait is never more than 15 minutes. Service has been good and the food definitely hits the spot. Their green chili has some serious spice to it as well; I find myself with a nice bead of brow sweat. We absolutely loved this place! We stopped in 1/8/15 before making our way back to Denver. Now I think we are both ready for a nap. I ordered the ultimate skillet with country gravy and it was amazing!! So much delicious food! The home Fries were great, it was topped with eggs, cheese, onions, bacon, cheese, and smothered in country gravy! My guy ordered the chicken fried steak and kept saying how good it was! I'm glad we don't live closer or we'd eat here all of the time and we'd be huge!! If you love a good mom and pop shop, this is your place. We love to support small/local Businesses. They have plenty of outdoor seating appropriately spaced apart and welcome your canine family members to join if you'd like. The food is hit or miss. They had one that included ghost peppers. This is what I'm talking about. I smothered my burrito in that sauce and loved every single bite. Also.
