The chili relleno was cooked better than my previous experience and the chili itself was spicy. My combo came with a chicken mole enchilada and a tostada. If you are from Texas or Oklahoma pass on by this place. "Cheese dip" is velveeta. Steak fajitas are actually roast or brisket, and shredded cheese is from a bag. I had really high hopes and decided to order a combo plate bc I wanted to try multiple things and I needed a good Mexican fix. I had the Taco, cheese enchiladas, Relleno, chalupa, beans and rice. The only thing I thought was okay was the beans and the salsa that was on the side. A lot of items lacked seasoning. I'm from New Mexico and live in Texas my palate for Mexican is broad. I hope the chef can continue to perfect what they want to share with the community I understand cooking at this altitude does have its challenges. The best Mexican food in Silverthorne. The top shelf margaritas are great and they have a huge selection of tequila available to cater to everyone (blancos, reposadas, and añejos). Last time we were here it was amazing. Today not so much. Changed to plastic plates - smaller portions. Plates were ceramic and hot which made food hot. This time Food was cold. Last time we had leftovers and were stuffed. Today we easily finished it all. Also the chicken enchilada and chicken burrito were identical. No sauce or cheese or anything special inside. Plain chicken. Both covered with same sauce. ?? Bean tostadas - smear of cold beans. Maybe the smallest pinch of shredded cheese. Not melted of course bc beans cold. Worth 50 cents if hot. This restaurant looks like a really small, hole in the wall type of place, which I love. We tried the street tacos since they had such good reviews and they lived up to the hype! So good! Got here right before closing and they made no fuss about us ordering, which was great. We had a couple of beers and a nice meal. I saw a dish I've never had on the menu, so had to order that one. It was pretty solid, but I did end up with a little order envy. I was considering the enchiladas rancheros, tried my buddy's enchilada with red sauce and it was super solid. The huaraches were also pretty good. I really liked the masa and the beans inside, easily my favoirte part of the dish. I had the vegetarian version which had a nice assortment of veggies, so that didn't disappoint. Portion was healthy. I didn't love the tomatillo salsa, found it a little too salty for my liking. The 3.5 star rating is just plain wrong. Maybe people ordered the wrong thing or something, but I wasn't expecting much when I got here. I should have known from the salsa. It's clearly made from scratch, and insanely good. Cilantro heavy. My tacos were amazing. They smoke the meats and the pineapple flavor isn't too much. In the middle of the Colorado mountains there is a gem of a Mexican food restaurant! Fritangas is an amazing place where you are treated like family and they serve high-quality real Mexican food. This is not just your typical Sonoran food, but also has an influence of DF (Mexico City). I knew this place was going to be good when I arrived. Great salsa (although not do great chips) and lots of customers speaking Spanish (First, their Chile Relleno is delicious. Not a floppy chile with a cube of cheese. This one is crispy and so flavorful. I had a chimichanga (shredded beef) with chile verde sauce and it was good. Lots of flavor! I was shocked when I saw huaraches on the menu! I've never seen them on a state-side menu and it brought back memories of them in a Mexico City open market. Huaraches are thick corn tortillas in the shape of a sandal (huarache) and then anything from beans to peanut butter and jelly is spread on top. Yes this is real Mexican food and high quality. Don't forget to try their Fried Ice Cream. While not spectacular it is tasty especially with the miniature sopapillas that decorate it. read more

Completely agree with previous reviewers that this rating is far too low. I'd say 4 to 4.5 stars is much more appropriate. What on earth are these people comparing this place to? Are they expecting three Michelin stars for 12 bucks? The food is cheap for summit county, it's delicious, and the people are nice. The service has always been great for me, both dining in and taking out. Also the breakfast burritos are awesome. $6.50 for a ton of food and flavor. Breakfast burritos are one of my favorite foods and this one is up there. Try the chorizo, it's a great meat/ cheese/potato/egg balance and isn't messy to eat on the go. Let me preface this review by saying that I live in Houston, and therefore have high expectations for a Mexican restaurant. Fritangas met none of them. In retrospect, the presence of hamburgers (not on the kid's menu) should've tipped us off. But we let our stomachs lead the way and chose this place hoping to have the "best Mexican food in town," as another reviewer put it. Let's start with the chips and salsa. The chips were over greased and under seasoned. The salsa was so packed with garlic that I can still taste it on my mouth an hour later. It tasted closer to bad marinara sauce than anything resembling salsa. Then a momentary bright spot of the meal: the margaritas. It was a solid margarita with a fair amount of tequila in it. The strawberry margarita came loaded with fresh fruit on top, which was a nice touch. Next, the queso. Where to begin with the queso? It was served on a fajita skillet (cool idea) but the cheese itself was the consistency of Elmer's glue mixed with those string cheese packs you put in your kid's lunch. We sent it back to the kitchen to be reheated, but that only made matters worse. We found a fork and knife to be the best method of consuming it, rather than the expected spoon. Finally, our meals came. The fajitas were a surprisingly large serving with plenty of steak, but it was definitely missing the flavor I'd expect from that dish. The fajitas came with a large helping of quacamole, which was little more than a chopped up avocado. Now, don't get me wrong, I love avocado. But if you're gonna call it guacamole, at least add some spices to it! My brother-in-law had the burrito supreme, which was topped with Spaghettio sauce claiming to be salsa (but at least it wasn't overloaded with garlic!) The single best part of our experience was the service. We interacted with a few different servers, all of which were friendly and eager to please. That's honestly the only thing that bumped my rating from 1 to 2 stars. And now, I'm going to brush my teeth a few dozen times to try to did myself of that garlic taste from the salsa. Luckily my wife ate the garlic "salsa" too, so she has to let me sleep in the same bed tonight! read more
