On a road trip and pulled off the hwy to find this place. The Yelp reviews were right on target. Best bagel sandwich I have ever had. I PROBABLY should have eaten it there but took it to go. I knew I was in trouble when I opened the bag and disposable utensils. This bagel was huge - perfect ratio of egg to cheese to sausage. The staff is friendly, the place is clean and unique inside. I've stopped over in Tehachapi on road trips for years, but this week was the first time I discovered this coffee shop. It's conveniently located but is on a quiet side street with plenty of parking and trees. The drift coffee was strong and delicious although could've been a little bit hotter. I had a bagel, egg cheese and turkey breakfast sandwich. It was delicious. Both the bagel and the egg portions were extremely generous. there wasn't very much turkey though. also enjoy the atmosphere inside the restaurant and the friendly staff. What a gem in this very cute town! The vibes are amazing, lots of options for seating including couches, low tops, high tops, and a work station with outlets and lights. There is art for sale from local artists, a book shelf, and outdoor space for sitting. The staff are lovely. I had their apple tart thing and it was so good. Great ratio of filling to crust. I also opted for a seasonal flavor in my latte, salted honey lavender. It was excellent, not too sweet, and very flavorful. Their WiFi is great and I was able to work and take Zoom meetings with no problem. If I'm ever in town again, this will be my spot for work, coffee, and pastries. read more

My first visit to Mountain Coffee and I couldn't be more delighted! The shop itself has comfortable chairs and a good amount of indoor seating. I asked about their seasonal drinks, whether they could be hot or cold (you'd be surprised that you can't assume). The barista was friendly and answered my questions. I selected the Black Rose Mocha (blackberry & dark chocolate). Another barista asked if I wanted blackberry whipped cream on it - of course! It was on the sweet side but delicious. And the foam was perfection! I also tried the waffle. It was a Liege style so with crystallized sugar. I haven't had this style in years and it was a pleasant surprise. read more

I visited Kamenz Kafe on Friday 07/08/22. It is walking / driving distance from the hotels. It is a cute and small coffee shop. I am a tea drinker. They have a variety of tea lattes. I ordered a Italian cream soda-vanilla flavor. It was delicious. I have been looking for a place that sells Italian cream soda. It was so yummy and delicious. I will definitely be returning when visiting techachapi. They do have food items at certain times throughout the day. I am looking forward to trying the food on my next visit. I love this place. Every time I am in town visiting the bf, I always ask him, should we go out our café spot? and we always know where it is. it's here. Love their breakfast and drinks. The people there are great too. Wonderful customer service. I brought my daughter their once and she was playing with their toys and broke it. I felt really bad, she did too. I told my daughter to apologize and she did. I offered to pay but they didn't want it. They said, all items here are gifted. They are just happy my daughter was able to enjoy it. If you are not familiar with food in Tehachapi, let me tell you that this is one of the best kept secrets. EXCELLENT, DELICIOUS AND UNIQUE SANDWICHES. I have been here many times over the years for coffee and pastries but out of need ordered a variety of sandwiches (not knowing what to expect) and every one was superb. The combinations of ingredients and the uniqueness of the preparation make these sandwiches special. I live an hour away but we like to visit Tehachapi and explore. This business does not follow guidelines to keep customers safe during this pandemic. They haven't since the beginning, masks are not worn by employees or customers inside. When something is said to employees they are not nice about it. Some people in Tehachapi would like to be safe and this establishment does not seem to care about that. I will never get coffee from this place, even when times are better. If you are not happy about how this is being handled you need to contact the Kern County Health Department. read more

Warning: No masks. Very dangerous place to go during the pandemic. This business is not even pretending to comply with local health regulations. When we tried to go in this morning for coffee, there were more than 10 people inside, employees and customers, and not one mask in sight. "The owner says we don't have to wear masks," the employee explained. After politely explaining that this was a deal-breaker for us getting coffee there, the employee had a rude attitude -- the message seemed to be that if you want to wear a mask, good riddance, this is not the place for you. Enough of my loved ones have died of this disease, that I cannot in good conscience support a business that seems to take some kind of sick joy in spreading it. read more

Mountain Coffee House is our go-to local coffee spot. We've been regulars here through all the name changes (first Mill Street Coffee Co then Kamenz Cafe and now Mountain Coffee). My husband also works here when he "works from home" but needs to get away from the kids. Great drinks. Food is pretty good too. We've always had great, friendly service. Sometimes when they have live music it can get too loud for the small space, but other than that, we love the cozy coffee shop ambiance. read more

This is the cute cozy coffee shop you're hoping for. The only things that would make it better are: a drive-through, and allergen-friendly food options. I would be able to spend more time here if I had more food options to sustain me. Being gluten & dairy-free, and the only food option for me is the egg dish IF they have spare eggs to make it fresh. (Usually the eggs are pre-scrambled with milk, waiting to be made.) The egg dish is good, but as it's my only option it gets boring. Also, I'm not always in the mood for eggs throughout the day. The coffees taste great. Their chai is good (hot is more flavorful than cold). Their teas are super fabulous. Things take a while to be made, but I'm okay with that. It's a tad awkward when meeting friends, because I spend a good chunk of time away from my group so I can be within earshot of the counter for when my drink (and eventually my food) is ready. The employees are nice enough. If you engage them, they're chatty and will answer any questions you might have. I love this coffee shop. Absolutely the worst business I've ever frequented. I make it a point to never leave one-star reviews on any business, but the owner of this one is absolutely the worst woman I've met in Tehachapi. It's a shame because her son is wonderful, and his pastries and artistry/love for his craft is apparent in his food only to have been born from a nosy, obnoxious liar. I've gone to this coffee shop every morning/day for the past 3 months since I've moved to Tehachapi. The owner has harassed me on multiple occasions to the point where I had to call her out of her name. If not for Jesus Christ (my Husband), then I would not nearly have been as nice. If the owner had listened to the things I have said about Him when I described Him, she would not need to ask me intrusive and horrible questions. The final straw was today when she told me if I didn't like her probing questions about my personal life then I can go somewhere else. You know what, I will! The Starbucks Girls at the Tehachapi store are amazing, and they don't need to make me feel embarrassed or call me a liar. And they have eggnog now. read more

I've been here twice and both times the food and drinks were really good and we plan to come back in the near future. The pesto avocado toast and jasmine iced tea were especially yummy!!! Customers on the second trip made the experience less than enjoyable, but that isn't anything I would mark the business down for. I ask where a Starbucks was an was told to come here instead , it's a cute little coffee shop . The outside an inside is so cute , the set up is cute kinda reminds me of the cafe in Friends cozy. They have all kinds of drinks, I got Ice caramel macchiato, they ask me about the milk an I was like what ? Starbucks never ask me that , I told them to give me the milk that's popular. When I first took a drink I was a little off on it because it was strong like really strong , I had to stir it for a while an took another drink , it was actually really good after a few stirs. Customer service was awesome the two people working were really friendly an had big smiles. And ask questions was no rush to move along to the next person, it was really nice. read more

I found this coffee shop and it seemed to have good reviews but unfortunately that was not our experience. First off buyer beware the menu prices on the wall don't match the price they charge. Our coffee was almost $2.00 more than the posted price. We got vanilla lattes and they cost $8.00 a piece our total bill for 2 coffees was $17.76 for 2 lattes! For that price the coffee should be excellent but it actually tasted like burnt coffee and was very disappointing. It was too hot to even take a sip right away so we got on the road to head home so once we had the chance to taste the coffee it was too late to go back and get a refund or remake. The cappuccino was excellent, but the egg on my avocado toast had runny whites, which was disappointing. Haven't tried the to-go muffins yet - but they look pretty killer.
