We've been meaning to swing into Mountain Branch for brunch and today that happened. The brunch buffet was loaded with options from home made omelets made on a spot, frittatas, pancakes, biscuits, and gravy, cheesy chicken, fish, shrimp, potatoes, waffles, crab, soup, crispy potatoes, string beans, Alfredo, and all the breakfast meats. They had some really good bread, pudding and pastry trays. Service was good and the atmosphere was relaxing. I will say that they have an opportunity to keep those buffet trays, full, and fresh but for $30 a person I thought the value was there if you're into gluttony. Remembered this as a really nice place for Sunday Brunch. Had out of town guests who wanted brunch and this is the only real option in the County as far as I can tell. To be fair, we were seated pretty late ( about noon ) but quite a bit of the options were dry and obviously not refreshed. The good - omelette chef did a great job and was also very outgoing. You'd think that you can't mess up an omelette but I've had plenty that weren't great. This was perfect. My brother didn't get brunch and had an excellent Rueben The bad aside from some of the food being dry from sitting on sterno's too long was that the place was filthy. The area outside the door to the doors to the kitchen looking like someone cleaned the floor by using a leaf blower to blow all the dirt into one area but never swept it up. The table we were sat at dripped condensation on us so they moved us to the adjoining table which did the same. Don't look up because you will be disgusted by the black mold on the vents. We had reservations last night for 7 people. Service started fine, they were busy but my meal, supposedly was dropped on the way out oh the kitchen. An unfortunate accident, but everyone at the table was done before my meal arrived. Not sure what could have been done differently, but no real apology, put a damper on everything, people didn't want to eat, but their meal would be cold. Think I'll spend my several hundreds elsewhere, for the price, it's not a great experience. read more

My brother's birthday celebration was dampened by the terrible service and subpar food. It took over a half and hour just to get our drinks-only a party of 10. Food took 45 minutes to arrive. Once good--but now struggling to maintain standards After many years of enjoyable dining at Mountain Branch, this 2026 Restaurant Week visit was disappointing. It feels like a place that's struggling to live up to its prior standards.    The restaurant week price for the dishes that are offered is no bargain for the customer. None of the main courses on the special menu are on the regular menu, & that's probably just as well. Between the recipes, the kitchen & the service, we hope the Mountain Branch can return to the higher standards it used to maintain.    We started with the Maryland crab soup. This cup of soup was tasty but cold, & we had to return it. It returned hotter, but reheating took a long time, & others at the table had finished their starters by the time it arrived. Not much crabmeat was to be found in the chowder.    The pear & goat cheese salad was nice & tasty. The raw onions were overpowering, but certainly woke you up.    The main courses have a long way to go. The beef stroganoff is plentiful & looks good. The sauce & flavor of the dish was very bland. It's a poor-man's stroganoff. The beef chunks were tough, hard to cut & difficult to chew. A poor cut of beef for a stroganoff. The pasta was nice, but the dish seemed to have been made by a junior or trainee chef who didn't pay enough attention to flavoring.    The chicken marsala was very rich & flavorful. You'll see in the photo it looks strange, but it was enjoyable to eat. The mushrooms are good. There could have been more of them. The generous-sized chicken cutlets are presented on a heavy bed of mashed potatoes. This is a nice tasty dish. But $39 dollars (for the 3-course menu)?     The bread pudding was excellent. Unfortunately, it was heavy on the whipped cream, & very light on the caramel sauce. For many years, it has been the caramel sauce that added a great flavor & interest to this dish. With less of it, a local diner can do this dish just as well.    The server was polite & nice, but rarely to be seen. There were long periods of absence. She must have had many distractions at this 4-o'clock hour. She seemed to have only one other table to serve. The service was not great, & certainly was not attentive.   Removing the stroganoff dish at the end of the meal, she spilled the sauce across my coat & onto an adjacent chair seat. She didn't notice either spillage, & seemed not to know what to do after I pointed out the problems. I cleaned it all up myself. I suppose all's well that end's well. read more

Most of my past dinner experiences at Mountain have been average. However, this time around, everything was better. The food was great! I got a crab cake, and my wife got an excellent seafood ravioli. The kitchen manager brought me a second crab cake because she thought the crabcake I received was not up to her standard. I didn't ask or complain about it; she just did it. Now that's service! As always, the view overlooking the golf course was great, but now that the food and service are improving, I am definitely going back. read more

I went for the Thanksgiving buffet. I haven't had a meal there since they used to have the prime rib buffet, which I loved, so I was super excited about what looked to be a packed menu. The beef tenderloin was more like beef jerky, the turkey and gravy were both completely bland, the bacon wrapped chicken wasn't wrapped in bacon at all and just seemed to have some sort of burnt bits on it that tasted gross, and the french fries were rock hard. The crab soup and dinner rolls were the best items so I spent $45 to dip six rolls in a bowl of crab soup. My son had to ask for refills on his drink several times before they were provided, but the service was otherwise polite and adequate. read more

Overpriced but damn good crab dip! I went here because it a suggestion from a friend. I had a mediocre experience. First off, the decor needs a little TLC. There were more con webs than my basement. These were present in the light fixture a throughout. However, the restaurant sits atop a golf course and displays stunning views. This was a plus. #datematerial My friend recommended I try the ribs. So that's what I went there for. Unfortunately they weren't on the menu so I went with the crab dip and a pasta dish. Crab dip: consistently hit the entire time U was eating it. I don't know how they managed to convince the cheese on too to lock in the heat but it worked! This is a must-get! My only complaint is that it didn't come with enough crispy bread. (Insert sad emoji) Pasta with grilled chicken: grilled chicken over penne with a slight cajun cream sauce. This was good but I think the chicken may have been slightly over-cooked for my liking. A few things I'd change are as follows: *have the server talk about the *food specials *dust a little *fix the flooring in the foyer (I know you're going for a theme but someone's gonna get hurt because it's too uneven) I'd recommend this place because it has potential. We had a birthday party of 13 people. At least 3 people had dirty water glasses. I ordered a Rueben sandwich and the meat was fatty and dry (not fresh and tender). I was going to split the sandwich with someone and was informed their would be a plate fee of $7. I was also told I couldn't bring a birthday cake. When I arrived, I was told we couldn't have balloons. I wish I was told this when I made the reservation. My sister ordered the shrimp salad and my daughter ordered a burger and both were disappointed. We spent $450. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and won't be coming back. read more

The last time I came here for dinner was 6 years ago and a lot has changed. I had dinner here on 8.8.20. Positives: I had a reservation and was promptly seated outside. Negatives: the server would go missing for 10-15 minutes at a time. Between getting us drinks she would go missing, she went missing for about 20 mins before we could place our order, and she even went missing for about 10-15 minutes with my bank card when it came time to pay so we could finally leave. Also the food is just not what I remember. The crab dip was cold on top and lukewarm throughout. I ordered the duet (lamb chops and crab cake) for dinner. The lamb chops were cooked well, but under seasoned. The crab cake was watery and had absolutely no flavor. To the point where I only took 3 bites and left the rest on the plate. My partner tried it too and she was not impressed. Honestly, I think the best food on my plate were the green beans and that's sad. My partner got a NY strip, green beans, and rice pilaf. The NY strip, just like the lamb chops, was cooked well but under seasoned. I was looking forward to a nice evening out but left disappointed. I've never dined at MB, so I cannot speak to a restaurant experience. However, I attended a private party during the day and I was anything but impressed. The food and service at this place was severely lacking. They had a few high school age boys working the party, and they could have cared less how things were going. The menu consisted of sandwiches. By the time my table made its way to the buffet, there were only a few sandwiches left and I saw no one making an effort to replenish them in a timely manner. Mind you, the cost was just over $2,000 for an assortment of sandwiches and crappy service. I was appalled! I would never recommend this place for a party. The party planner can hook you up, take your money, but she will not be there to make sure your party/experience is a good one. This place is a joke in my opinion. read more

It has been a while since I've visited Mountain Branch & previously it was mostly for dinner. My previous experiences have been positive. This time we were here for lunch. At 12 we were seated immediately and there were a few other tables occupied but the restaurant wasn't full. I wasn't sure what to have and our server recommend the Blackened Tuna sandwich as it is one of the most popular items for lunch. We also ordered the Chicken Salad. The Tuna was cooked rare as ordered and was seasoned just right. The Chicken Salad was also tasty and seemed like another popular dish as a few other tables had ordered it. Our server was attentive & friendly. A great atmosphere and view as the restaurant is part of a golf course. Great to see the food and service are still excellent! read more

Arrived for Sunday brunch at 1230. Food was cold and hard what there was left. Carving station had 3 pieces of dried up meat and the egg station made a cheese omelette with no cheese inside. First time going to Mountain Branch and will be the last time I ever go there. When you walk in and the hostess points to your table and doesn't take you to the table that's an issue. The waitress was nice, but the service was not very good. The food was absolutely terrible. We had 7 of us and the cream of crab which had zero crab meat, four of the entrees came out lukewarm at best. Instead of re-firing they said they could put in microwave so that would dry everything out, my youngest orders from the kids menu and her burger was dry and burnt and to top it off my oldest ordered Salmon which they forgot and then when it came out the sides were ice cold. If you like mice and black mold, then this is an ideal dining spot. Upon seating, I saw one mouse run from under the table behind us all the way into the kitchen. The second one was as we were leaving, I saw one scamper up the steps by the restrooms. The flies swarming our food was constant too. And that's not even the half of it as when I looked up, I saw the exposed ventilation system and of course there was black mold forming. It is only a matter of time before this place gets shut down. When we arrived ( 6/8/2024 at 5:30) with no one behind us my wife asked the hostess if she knew the Orioles score , no was the response ,not let me see if i can find out ,just no . Then my wife told her Gunner hit another home run last night and her response was , what do you want , i said at that point our dam table , pointing its over there (another couple waiting for us at the table ) she never took us to the table . Thank goodness after that it was all up hill . Food was very good .the service even better . At one point some hit a wrong button and the music came on LOUDLY for about 20 seconds ,lol . My husband and I took another couple to brunch and couldn't have been more disappointed or embarrassed. They ran out of plates and we had to wait. There were no biscuits for the gravy, no salad dressing for the spinach and fresh fruit salad, we waited 20 min. for more steamed shrimp, the omelet guy kept disappearing to hang out in the kitchen. The floor was so dusty and dirty and the carpet on the stairs was so worn and dirty it looked like the health dept should be involved. What has happened to what used to be a nice place. I have enjoyed many a brunch over the years, but today was disappointing. General neglect of details that used to make it so pleasant. Floors were unswept, carpets on steps worn and frayed, omelets not accurately made, coffee was old and burnt. No soap in the ladies room. And the hostess staff piled their bags, shoes, jackets etc under one of the buffet tables on the floor in plain sight. The loud squeak on the kitchen swinging door was grating. Threes of us arrived for dinner 6:15 pm on a Saturday evening. We were seated and waitress took our drink order right away. Proceeded to order dinner around 6:35 pm. The waitress told us at 7pm that it would be just a few more minutes. I was puzzled since there very only a few tables that had customers. She informed me that there was a wedding under the tent and rehearsal dinner upstairs. We finally received our dinner at 7:40 pm. I had crab cakes...they were OK. We were offered free dessert. We started with some drinks - Pear martini & pumpkin martini. The pear martini was light and delicious. The pumpkin martini was creamy and good, but because it was creamy we couldn't drink two of these. I could easily drink two (or more) pear martinis! Mountain branch nachos - cheese sauce is layered throughout & well dispersed. This is the type of spread out toppings we all hope you see in nachos. Thank you Mountain Branch If you're a sour cream person like myself, make sure you ask for a side of it. My fiancée had this & the soup as his meal and was full. All of the other toppings were great too! Half and half soup- classic mix of cream of crab & MD crab soup. Good as always. Burger - added some caramelized onions. Make ask for a size of old bay Mayo! This was so good and we dipped the fries in here too! This burger was practically inhaled so quickly. Salmon BLT - this was now second time ordering the Salmon BLT. The salmon is hearty and flavorful. I just wish there was a nice sauce in there rather than just Mayo. Next time I am going to ask for something else on there. Crab cake sandwich - good! My friend is a picky eater and ate it without the buns. The fries it comes with were super tasty. The services is top-notch when they are there with you. We initially were going to sit outside. However their heater wasn't working and it was pretty dark and cold out. This was disappointing because it's so pretty outside. We asked to come inside though and they were super accommodating. Our waitress was so kind too. But the service, though good, was spotty. As we were trying to ask for a side of sour cream we had to wait a couple minutes and flag our waitress down. Same with when we wanted some more beers on the table. It's a pretty big establishment though, maybe they were a little short staffed. And it is so beautiful there! American fare that is straightforward but sophisticated. The service was excellent. Timely but not overbearing. The house wine was spot on. Unusually good for a house wine. Menu is upscale with a Maryland twist. The place wasn't as busy as it should have been for a Sunday night. Went to mountain branch for fathers day. Called ahead and made reservations. Hostest explained due to COVID that only 6 people were allowed to a party, which is okay because that is standard. Upon arriving there were multiple parties of 10 or more none of which where observing social distancing. Not a stickler about the social distancing...just sad i was told one thing and apparently they were letting other things fly. Food was mediocre, server, Molly, was horrible... did not bus table at all did not care to stop back to check food or refill drinks including alcoholic beverages...really a great way to upsell. Everyone left disapointed and talking about where the view is great everything else was not. We will not be back. Venue does not match up to the "great reputation" they once had. I came back again. Gave them another chance. Food is cold, tasteless, undercooked. I'm honestly scared to eat some things for fear of getting sick. My kids refused to eat any food. I tasted the soup, it's bad. We ordered a tomato juice. It's so bad that you can taste it's sour. How can they serve that? One of the lids on the tray is broken, no handle, so when you open it, it slams. Literally every person going to that tray, slams it open. Nobody came to fix it and it's EMPTY here. Only 3 tables, plenty of employees. The hostess was texting on her phone when we came in and we stood there staring at her for a good minute until she finished texting. Awesome. We ordered a crab dip appetizer, burgers and chicken caesar salads that never came after waiting over an hour!!! Decent course, however their operations are pitiful (take note general manager). I've played here a few times and if you want to grab & go a bite to eat at the turn, forget it. The 6'-5 lunkhead who supposedly manages this is absolutely clueless. He needs to be put back on a mower.
