Seafood ravioli

Most of my past dinner experiences at Mountain have been average. However, this time around, everything was better. The food was great! I got a crab cake, and my wife got an excellent seafood ravioli. The kitchen manager brought me a second crab cake because she thought the crabcake I received was not up to her standard. I didn't ask or complain about it; she just did it. Now that's service! As always, the view overlooking the golf course was great, but now that the food and service are improving, I am definitely going back.

Ordered a drink "surprise me," got a delicious white cranberry martini (see photo). The food came out looking delicious (see photo), looks like the martini was enticed! The special fish dish really was perfect. We were all happy to the end (see photo). Our server was responsive and seemed to really appreciate our business. Her name began with a J (a thin blonde). This place is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!! Go in and enjoy

Duet (lamb chops and crab cake)
Becca H.

The last time I came here for dinner was 6 years ago and a lot has changed. I had dinner here on 8.8.20. Positives: I had a reservation and was promptly seated outside. Negatives: the server would go missing for 10-15 minutes at a time. Between getting us drinks she would go missing, she went missing for about 20 mins before we could place our order, and she even went missing for about 10-15 minutes with my bank card when it came time to pay so we could finally leave. Also the food is just not what I remember. The crab dip was cold on top and lukewarm throughout. I ordered the duet (lamb chops and crab cake) for dinner. The lamb chops were cooked well, but under seasoned. The crab cake was watery and had absolutely no flavor. To the point where I only took 3 bites and left the rest on the plate. My partner tried it too and she was not impressed. Honestly, I think the best food on my plate were the green beans and that's sad. My partner got a NY strip, green beans, and rice pilaf. The NY strip, just like the lamb chops, was cooked well but under seasoned. I was looking forward to a nice evening out but left disappointed. The mediocre service and food have definitely changed my opinion of Mountain Branch.

Just don't. It's basically become a restaurant with subpar food. I wouldn't want to be a server here.

The service was great. The food, not so much. It was just not my cup of tea. The lemonade was the best thing I had.

I've had better edamame though because it lacked flavor. A huge shoutout to Bret behind the bar for providing top-tier service. Attentive, personable, knowledgeable, and just genuinely great energy. The drinks were perfectly made, recommendations were on point, and he made the entire experience even better. Between the amazing food, craft cocktails, and outstanding service, this place absolutely lives up to the hype. Decided to have a little "celebration" for a successful year end at our business. The good - attentive service. Called ahead and they held a table for 15 min until we arrived. Friday and it was packed. Cocktails good. Food, I've got some concerns. Appetizers - ordered cheesesteak eggrolls and octopus. Eggrolls were excellent. Octopus thought, I'm used to the presentation at Bacco's so I could do without it being cut into tiny pieces and buried in sauce. Salad - shared the kale salad. Great flavor but the ( wife's pet peeve when I serve it ), the kale was in very large chunks, could use a bit more chopping. Main Course - wife had stroganoff and I had the NY strip. I don't know what it is about Harford County but it's the last time I'll try to get a proper NY strip here. I should have known when it was only $52 on the menu. Steak & Main advertises "best steaks around" and serves the same 1/2" thin cut slice that looks like it came from Ponderosa but they charge $65 which is a ripoff. I like my steak rare and with a steak this thin, it's impossible but at least they were close. Again, stuff all over the top of the meat, a bit too much. Stroganoff - solid!! Dessert- Bananas Foster / solid!! My only gripe is the steak. We will be back for sure but I'm done trying to get one out and will just continue getting a nice cut from a butcher and treating myself at home.

Service is good and they are very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. Server very well acquainted with the menu and they even have specials off the menu. Menu doesn't have tons of choices, but makes sense when everything is prepared fresh and what is on the menu is done extremely well. First, drinks... yum! They have a terrific happy hour deal. That is worth a visit on its own. It's pretty spectacular and the drinks are great. The good news is you can get the HH without sitting at the bar. We had an Old Fashion, a Lemon Raspberry Martini, a Lemon Drop martini, a Sidecar, and a Carajillo. All were well made and delicious. The Carajillo was amazing - better than an espresso martini!! The food was wonderful. First course was the Baked Avocado, Cream of Crab soup, and the mussels which weren't on the regular menu as they were a special. The Avocado was fabulous and not too heavy. The mussels were in a delicious broth. Cream of crab was good but not worth the $21 a bowl (just average as you would get anywhere else). Second course was Filet Mignon, Shrimp and Crab, and House Made Pork Sausage Pappardelle. All were delicious and served with sides that elevated the flavors. The filet is a fav! The portions were a great dinner size and not overwhelmingly huge. We skipped dessert, but they were all great choices. We had previously had their s'mores which is a must try! They do have good coffee as well. Great location, intimate setting, nice people and a wonderful place to visit for a wonderful meal. Worth visiting. Be prepared as they are pricey (over $300 for 4 people). It's odd because their Happy Hour is just such a steal for the craft cocktails available (I guess gets you in the door). Perhaps sit at the bar for HH and just get drinks for a reasonable option. Maybe throw in a charcuterie board to snack on while enjoying the libations. For sure will be back.

They have a small menu, but sometimes that's nice not having to make so many decisions and usually that means the courses are quite good. I ordered the peartini, which was good but didn't have strong pear flavor. They brought out bread with our starters (3 pieces for 2 people - I never understand that!) which was tasty and my salad course was delicious. My husband really liked his soup too! For our entrees, he got the filet mignon which he said was excellent, but my shrimp and crab with gnocchi dish was disappointing. I think the sauce broke so it was swimming in oil. I tried to eat the pieces off the top and the shrimp were huge and gnocchi very soft and flavorful, but I couldn't get over the amount of oil. For dessert, he got the crème brûlée which he enjoyed and I got the s'mores. Mine was good, but the chocolate was very thick and heavy. I was hoping for a lighter mousse to end my meal instead. Overall we had a nice time and enjoyed our date night out, but I think the food is a bit inconsistent.
