WARNING! It's Rare to find a garage that wont take advantage of a customer. This one was no different, Calling in I asked if they had a part to fix the rear passenger shock mount as it had failed due to wear. A 20$ Item, 3 screws easily accessible, and 10 minutes of work with an impact driver and WD-40. After calling i was LIED to when the front desk had said that the shock i was looking for was fused and the 20$ part unfortunately has to be a 150$ entire shock replacement as well as an estimate of maximum 100$ for the labour. I took his word for it and agreed to the service.... little did I know.... this was not the case. I asked for my old part back and easily popped off the mount from the rubber gasket and made mention that I must not have had the "factory model" he talked about over the phone. Alas, after lying again and saying Mazda doesn't sell it separately, he shortly corrected himself a minute later saying that they do not buy them separately (no need to get it from Mazda, Napa sells the same KYB mount (Mazda's factory shock choice) or dorman substitute). Irregardless charging me 50$ more than the cost of the suspension. valuing his mechanics service at 300$/hr (took 20 minutes in total in/out while moving slower then a sloth) and openly lying to a customer you'd be better off at a Canadian Tire auto service. Heed WARNING to those who do not know different, speed and monetary cost is in the eye of the beholder and this Snake Oil salesman sells a bitter brew of lies. read more

Wonderful service yesterday! Thank you Jason and Danny. Could not get in to my usual place because of long weekend coming up(???), so tried Mt Pleasant after recommended by a friend. Took car in with broken air conditioner at 9:30 am, Danny drove me over to the subway station, and when I returned at noon, car had been recharged and for exactly the price quoted. As most automotive shops go, there are the somewhat honest and the downright ridiculous. This shop easily falls into the latter category. I was looking to buy my car at the end of its lease agreement. I needed a safety certificate to provide to the leasing company. I live very close to Mount Pleasant Auto Service and chose it out of convenience. My car was only four years old and I had maintained it religiously. I wasn't expecting any issues. The person I dealt with seemed to be the shop owner or manager. After a few hours from dropping my car off, I got a call from him about my car. According to him, I needed to replace two of my tires, had streaking wiper blades, and had a leaking tire that needed to be patched. I had to get all these rectified before getting a safety certificate from him. This was on top of the fee I was already being charged (about $100) for getting the car looked at. Before I could get him to elaborate, he was already reciting how much it would cost me to get the problems fixed at his shop. I was pretty livid at this point because my car had been running fine with no issues, and had just come back from another mechanic. I went to the shop and demanded him to explain the issues. He said my tires were below the minimum tread depth required. I asked him what the minimum level was. He said he didn't know! So I asked, "How could you tell me they're below the minimum, if you don't even know what the minimum is?" After a brief debate he finally called in the mechanic who did the work, and lo and behold the mechanic corrected himself and said the tires were "near" the minimum, and not actually below it. At that point I just wanted my car and safety certificate. I had them patch the "leaking" tire. I went to the dealership and bought new wipers and had Mount Pleasant Auto install them for free. They didn't even test them to see if those streaked too (I explained I had Rain-X on the windshield, which showed up as streaks). If you do not do research on the work you're commissioning them to do, there is a very likely chance that they will rip you off. The same can be said about any auto shop, but this place bothered me in particular because it was such a blatant oversight. Avoid at all costs! read more

This place is HORRIBLE!! Do not go! They try to scam you and say things are wrong with your car when they aren't! Or aren't even necessary !! They just want your $$$ I went in to get a safety certify on one of my cars to get it back on the road. First of all, they told me to leave the car at 8am to get the safety done.. My car was there until 430! Safety is one of the quickest and easiest things to do so I have no idea why I had an appointment for 8am and got my car at 430.. So, they tell me my car needs $1000 worth of fixes to get a pass .. I thought to myself "how is this possible my car was on the road last year no issues" maybe they assumed since I was a young female that I would be blind about all of this and actually pay?? They told me $1000 worth of nonsense repairs such as "needs new wipers" "mirror is loose" "cracks" and apparently my tire tread was below minimum.. and the list goes on... Whatever I laughed and ofcourse had to pay them $100 for the safety test... The following day I take my car to another shop... They did my safety as soon as I got there and passed my car !! With no mention of these nonsense "repairs".. How is it that mount pleasnt auto garbage shop told me I need $1000 worth of repairs and the other auto body shop passed me? Ridiculous. This place is a scam and has TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Go somewhere else. read more

I have always had good and very fast service when I have brought my previous and current car here. They always call me back before they say they will, and their prices are reasonable, as well they are friendly and informative. I have visited them for oil changes, snow tires, tire repair, etc. I'm very happy with this small shop and I recommend it to others. read more

I'm tired of reading the 1 star review from Anton. I never write these reviews, but this is painful to read every time I'm looking for their number. I live around the corner from Mt. Pleasat Auto and have used them regularly for the past 4 years with no problems at all. John, who answers the phone, lacks a bedside manner, but I find them honest and helpful. They inform you of repairs that should be made for safety and that might need replacing in the next 3 months - ie bald tires. Anton seems to be complaining because he wanted a safety and they were advising him how to fix his car keep it safely on the road. If you're interested in spending no money on your car, heed Anton's review. If you're looking to keep your car in good working order, then you shouldn't have any problems with Mt. Pleasant's service. I have been dealing with Steve Celebre for 25 years. He is the owner of Mt Pleasant Auto. He is honest, gentle and a fine man. I trust him with my car and my life. Sure you can go to Canadian Tire or somewhere else and may get a cheaper price but these people stand by their work, give great service and have the car ready when they say it will be ready. I am willing to pay a bit more for convenience and good service. His son, John, runs the front desk and is also very knowledgeable and thorough. This automotive shop has my highest recommendation. Three hours to replace a map sensor???? I called two other dealers after the fact and they quoted me 1/2 hour... Been going there for years, and they have lost years of future business from me to squeeze in two extra hours labour. Very, very disappointed. They used to be reliable, but now I would not recommend them.. I'll take my chances with another dealer from now on. read more

We have taken cars here for various jobs over the years. I have always found them to be both honest and capable. The last two visits they have fixed particular problems (which needed to be fixed right away) within the first ten minutes and refused payment both times. I would highly recommend them. read more
