The ingredients are carefully chosen for premium quality and taste. They soft-opened on 2026-03-05. During the soft-opening, it is walk-in only (no reservations), and they are only open Thu-Sat for dinner. Next week, 2026-03-19, they will open Thu-Sun for lunch and dinner. We ordered the following: 1. Assiette de Bresaola Maison ($24). 2. Halibut et Coquillages au Beurre Blanc ($43). 3. Choux à la Creme ($12). The service was excellent. The Halibut was very flakey and tasty (for a white fish). It was topped with Fried Capers, providing a salty umami flavour. It is also topped with Pangrattato, which is an Italian condiment made from coarse, stale breadcrumbs, fried in olive oil. The Halibut was 5 oz. The Venere Rice (Black Venus Rice) was surprisingly superb! This Italian rice has a deep purple/black colour with an intense nutty aroma. The clams were very good. Bresaola is a type of Italian salami made from air-dried, salted beef. This restaurant uses house cured Ribeye Cap Steak, known as "king of steaks", known for its rich marbling. It wasn't too salty. It was accompanied with Anchoix de Cantabrie (Cantabrian Anchovey Fillets), which are a premium type of anchovy, harvested within the Bay of Biscay. Of course it was salty, but this type is less intensely salty. Good thing the dish came with Duck Fat Toast so that I could put the bresaola amd anchovies on the toast to the balance the taste. The Choux à la Creme translates to Cream Puffs. It is light and hollow , filled with a nice white cream, which was light and delicious. It comes with a chocolate sauce, pour at the table. This dessert was chilled. There is a kitchen in that back where they prepare the base of the dishes. There is a small open kitchen in the front where the main chefs grill meats and fish, completing the dishes. There is a full bar. There are a small tables (seating about 20) and counter seating (seating 6-8) for indoor dining. During warm weather, there is a covered patio seating. The patio might finish renovations by May 2026, with an additional 30 seats. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. The washroom is downstairs (hence no wheelchair accessible) with three gender-neutral stalls and two common wash basins. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-046

Located along Bloor St. W. and Brunswick Ave, this restaurant in the Annex has become quite popular since they opened in early March. They are currently in their soft opening (open for lunch and dinner on select days with breakfast soon to be added) and just like their other restaurants, it is walk in only. I decided to dine at Brasserie Cote on a Friday for a late lunch. The place wasn't as busy but there were still people finishing lunch as well as coming in. As a solo diner I opted to sit at the bar. There was no paper menu for food for lunch but everything was written on a board that was displayed facing the street. When I inquired about the food menu, the staff personally brought the board to me and went through the entire menu with me (there were about 8-10 items). He then put the board near the bar so other people could see. I was expecting that the lunch menu would be the same as the dinner menu but I guess not (some items for lunch are included in the dinner menu though from what I can see). There was also an extensive drink menu with a nice selection of wines as well as some alcoholic beverages (no mocktails unfortunately). Service wise, this could be improved upon. Service was a bit slow and just average. Unfortunately I didn't feel like drinking alcohol mid-day and the bartender didn't really have any mocktails that he could come up with and gave me a list of other beverages like soda and sparkling water. Understand that this is their soft opening phase so hopefully service wise things can feel more personable and friendly. Food wise, I opted for the onglet de boeuf a l'echalote & frites maison ($44), which was a grilled 7oz hanger steak, shallot and red wine sauce. Drink wise I opted for a non-alcoholic option as I didn't feel like having wine mid-day where I had the Goodlot ginger fizz (sparkling flavoured water). Food and drink were prepared and came to me at a reasonable time. In terms of the the steak frites, it was delicious! The steak was cooked more to a medium instead of a medium rare as I had ordered but it was tender. The fries were like the ones you'd get at Cote De Boeuf, slightly salty and crispy, where it came with a side of aioli. I had worked up an appetite so I was able to finish most of the steak frites. Glancing at what other people ordered, the salad looked super great as well. And as always, the steak tartare cannot be missed (this is my usual order at Cote De Boeuf). Overall, a great new addition to the Annex. Brasserie Cote is already popular for dinner so do come early if you'd like to dine here (they do not take reservations). Can't wait to see what their breakfast menu will be like as well!

Everything is incredibly professional, from the staff to the presentation to the chefs. While professional the staff does a great job the engage. I found the sommelier partuculay great, incredibly knowledgeable yet friendly and accessible. Also, he was very open to modifying the wine pairing so it was red heavy (though I still tried some of his favorite whites). All the courses were fantastic, it feels wrong to single out any one but will share my favorites. With the amuse bouche, I love the sushi bite with scallop. My favorite dish was probably the chestnut soup. The tomato stuffed with tuna and caviar is their signature dish and one of the most impressive (and best tasting) dishes I've had. Do not go if the price will bother you but if you want a very special meal, I recommend LSL.

Was back after finding out that Chef Le Squer was in town. The experience was fantastic. As usual. The service was the best in toronto and among the best I've experienced. Service was done in unison from when the plates are presented and removed. Exquisite precision from every member from how the address you, to how they notice what you are doing without even looking at you. Dishes were fantastic with an incredible twist of Japanese freshness and French complexity. Standouts were the signature tomato dish, the sweet shrimp, mushroom soup and the bouillabaisse. But really it was all fantastic. Wine pairing was amazing and well chosen for the meal. The Germany Riesling was a standout for us. Special for us was that this was a week before Le Squer's birthday so there was a surprise birthday celebration for him that included gifts for him and cake and champagne all around. To put a final nice touch. Chef Leroy himself stood at the door to thank us as we left and he even escorted us to our car with an umbrella outside since it was raining. I've only had chefs escort us to the door a handful of times and only twice have they gone outside with us. None have ever held an umbrella for us as we went to our car. We didn't want him to do it as it's not his job but he insisted. Love that guy. This is part of my permanent rotation.

Comfort arrives immediately with the amuse-bouche - gougères filled with molten cheese and topped with a touch of ham. They're incredibly satisfying, yet surprisingly light despite the rich filling. If that's not enough indulgence, order the pain au lait ($16). Served piping hot, the soft buttery bread releases an intoxicating aroma that becomes even better slathered with cultured butter. It's the kind of bread that makes you accidentally eat far more than intended. After such a rich start, I expected the boeuf consommé ($30) to continue in the same comforting direction. Instead, the broth carried an unexpected acidity, perhaps from the smoked celeriac, that gave it a lighter feel. Alongside the raw squash and generous barley, the soup ended up feeling fresher than cozy. Thankfully, the short rib and caramelized onion raviolo was excellent: plump, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavour. The rib eye in the boeuf ($90) was the standout of the evening. Cooked to a beautiful medium rare, it was tender while still maintaining a lovely crust. Interestingly, the steak was cut thick and compact, almost resembling a tenderloin, yet still delivered the marbled richness that makes rib eye so satisfying. Every accompaniment worked well with it, from the sourdough crumble and pomme espuma to the pickled shallot gel, crunchy broccolini, and silky red wine jus. It's one of the better mains I've had at Auberge in years. At this point, I was stuffed (we may have had a second helping of pain au lait) so I sampled desserts from the rest of the table. The macarons ($25) are ideal for sharing, with six per order. The caramel flavour was denser than expected, though my fellow diners assured me the pistachio version was far superior. Auberge's cheese plate ($14 per oz) remains a popular option. Diners can choose from a selection of hard, soft, and blue cheeses, priced by weight. My husband selected a Beemster-style cheese that paired beautifully with honey, berry compote, and crostini. Simple, but very satisfying. Surprisingly, the restaurant was fairly quiet on our Friday night visit aside from a birthday celebration happening in the private dining room. The calmer atmosphere likely helped service shine. Something about Auberge feels more relaxed now. The dining room is brighter, tables are grouped closer together in the centre, and the overall vibe feels livelier and less stuffy than before. Our waiter joked comfortably with guests while still delivering polished service. Le Paradis is a genuinely French restaurant - not one that nibbles around the edge with a couple of nominally French recipes. Let's talk specifics for a moment. My mother and I got a table near the back patio at Le Paradis. It was a great location - except for the incredibly obnoxious patrons that were one table over from us. They were ugly, loud, and I wanted to beat them with a bat, because they made dinner a lot less fun than it would have been, save for their presence. The other thing that was difficult was our waiter - Adam. He was obnoxious and pretentious. When I asked him about the presence of Canadian wines on the menu - he turned incredibly haughty and condescending. I wanted to support Canada during my visit to Toronto, and I knew from previous travels that VQA wines from British Columbia, as well as ice-wines from Quebec are all particularly good and would have added to our meal. Adam shut down my interest with very dismissive comments - and I was pretty disgusted by it. However - my mother and I didn't allow his bad attitude to ruin our meal. She ordered the Pear and Chevre (goat-cheese) salad (with bacon lardons) ($15.00) and I ordered the "Terrine de Foies de Volailles" (duck and chicken-liver mousse) ($10) and both appetizers were amazing. The salad was particularly amazing - and I desperately want to steal it for my next dinner-party. We also ordered a glass of red wine each - mine: Pinot Noir and hers, Cabernet Sauvignon (each, $11). They were very, very good house wines and I would have had another glass, but chemotherapy drugs and alcohol generally don't mix and I didn't want to push the point. I do have to commend the chefs. The hanger steaks in Au Poivre sauce that we ordered were cooked perfectly - my (medium rare) and my mother's - rare / wounded / still moving. We had to concentrate to take our time in eating, because the meals were so good that we wanted to just ravage our plates. For desert - we ordered bananas foster with black berries, huge red raspberries, and hand-made coconut ice cream ("Coupe Cote d'Ivoire") $10.00 - it was *glorious*. The coconut ice cream was the best I've ever had and I've eat versions of it all over the world. I had Earl Grey tea ($3.50) - which was served in a wonderful white ceramic pot, which I'd would have loved to have been able to take it home with me. My mother ordered Cafe Americano ($4.00). With everything, (tip, VAT, etc.), the total was $187.87 CAD - or about $135.92 USD. A meal like that in the Boston area, for perspective, would have been $150 to 200 (minimum). We got a hell of a meal and an incredible deal.

However, I was a little disappointed that this was the only time we got to see him as we couldn't interact with him regarding some of his dishes. Decor is nice, dark and upscale. Standouts included: Le Homard - Nova Scotia Lobster, Coffee Papagayo, Plantain, Sweet-Pepper: Excellent dish that chef has won an award for. Fantastic flavours top to bottom. I think having caviar at the top would have made it even better though. Le Pithivier - Beef Wellington "À la Française", Foie Gras, Spinach, Mushrooms, Beef Jus : I added this for $80 and it was delightful. As an add on i I suggest sharing this as it is substantial. However the taste is excellent. Foie gras instead of pate is a very nice touch. Le Campignon consists of a Mueller (finely chopped mushroom mixture) was also excellent.
